My apologies for putting it here, it seems the right place and this topic will probably generate feedback from the users. Move it if you deem it necessary.

 

Is the main board supposed to be for diverse discussion of all things Saints, including trips down memory lane, various trivia, but most importantly about the current situation with the team - but in the latter case only as a mutual masturbation glee-club about how wonderful everything is with dissenting or conflicting opinions completely taboo ???

 

Do you guys realise just how much systematic abuse is being dished out for anyone who doesnt toe the "party line" ?

 

I may throw back the odd piece of abuse, but the agression and sheer nastiness has become mostly a one-way street, and there are others receiving this treatment too, just because we dont feel everything is so damned peachy at SMS.

 

Everytime someone questions or doubts the wave of euphoria, a dozen posts come crashing in with vile abuse.

I dont consider it to be ill-informed. This "alpine doesnt know what hes talking about" has simply come about because I dare to live abroad (I dont understand the stigma attached to it, apart from there has always been a bit of a p*ssing contest on here about the amount of games one goes to) And at the moment negative is how I feel, after months of being fairly up about things. Are we only allowed to post nice fluffy things ?

No offence intended Alpine but I've genuinely only noticed that with a handful of posters, you being one of them. There are plenty of people who debate what the club is doing or will point out something negative and don't get yelled at.

I have praised the turnaround today in the second half and written positively about the impact it might have. But that all gets ignored.

Saints have been in poor form for a month. The rest of the season they were the best side in the league and remain top.

You will struggle to find anyone on this forum that isn't concerned with recent form in the league. However the season is far from a disaster, the team despite the poor current form is top and is clearly trying to act in the transfer market to turn things around. I'd rather be in that position than trying to catch up with Saints having had a weaker start to the season like all 23 other Championship sides.

To be fair, the "alpine doesnt know what hes talking about" has come from reading half the stuff you write. You could live in a

tent outside the stadium and it would still be just as negative, divisive and out of touch.

I don't know what to say really, other than not everyone sits back and takes everything they see in their stride like you may think. Stuff like getting annoyed over a lack of transfers compared to other teams when we're barely eight days into the window? I think that's a little rash. There are always going to be different ways of going about business, we have a very different policy to say Leicester, and look where we are compared to them right now. It's also naive to think that stuff isn't going on in the background or hasn't been going on already.

You know what. Out of everyone who has been through this forum in the last few years you are the one poster I would not miss. I dont post for attention, and I resent the accusation. I post in order to feel part of what is going on when I live so far away. Try it and see how it affects your behaviour.

 

I regard myself to be a fairly intelligent person, and feel I have drawn reasonable conclusions, and do my best to explain them. Maybe the emotion of the moment and the immediate inush of a dozen abusive responses prevents me doing so as effectively as I would wish. Its difficult to elaborate on a point youve just made when you're angry at having just been called a "trolling skate tw*t".

 

My current bugbear is the speed with which we do our transfer business. If it takes too long it will hinder our ability to hold on to the top spot. In my opinion, even going back to my "CB watch" posts under Burley, we always take too long on transfer activity.

You are right Alpine it is unpleasant, it is cyber bullying. All too common these days. If these people feel that strongly about your views why don't tthey just ignore your posts. They would probably never dare say those things except from behind the safety of a key board!!!! I don'y agree with a lot of what you say, but you have every right to say it without the level of personal abuse you get. I think the way certain people (i.e you) get ganged up upon is the reason why I have never subscribed!!!

we have already signed Jos, got Lee awaiting a permit and Adkins has said other deals are being negotiated yet you and Dalek won't stop moaning about a lack of effort and activity from NA and NC. We have overachieved, be happy about it rather than being such a spoilt child constantly wanting more. Our form is bad, a new player or two can only help. Every fan knows this, just most others are happy to cut the management some slack in doing this as whatever decisions they have made previously have got us here in the first place.

I never said they arent doing anything. You dont know the dynamic in the activity, maybe NC is playing more Elliot Ward type tricks. You know he hates agents.

 

The "slack" you referred to maybe time or games that our promotion campaign cannot afford. Imo this season is shaping up to be a tight promotion battle. I dont think we can afford 4 weeks to complete our transfer activity - thats 4 or 5 games, 12 or 15 points.

I moan when anyone predicts we will lose by three goals simply because we happen to be losing by a single goal at some point. Let's be honest, if we are losing at half time, then 99 times out of 100 you will be spitting bile saying how awful we are and predicting a loss without taking any other factors into account and without any sort of belief that we can turn it around.

I moan when anyone predicts we will lose by three goals simply because we happen to be losing by a single goal at some point. Let's be honest, if we are losing at half time, then 99 times out of 100 you will be spitting bile saying how awful we are and predicting a loss without taking any other factors into account and without any sort of belief that we can turn it around.

 

Hypo, looking at that team sheet and how the first half went, I dont believe anyone who claims they were confident we could turn that around. I predicted 3 goals based on Coventrys chances and weight of posession. It could have been that up to NAs substitutions if Coventry had played someone who can shoot today.

 

Do you get arsey when we are parked in a teams half and we are 1-0 up and someone says "we'll get 4 today" ?

55 posts in 90 minutes of football all with largely negative connotations I think would be considered "relentless" by most people.

 

Especially considering it was a game Saints won! So those posts were largely in the 60 minutes Saints were losing. "Relentless" at nearly a post per minute?

See, you make it sound like it is deliberate. It is not.

 

I write what I feel. Maybe I shouldnt post during games. But it makes me feel like I am part of something I sadly cannot physically attend.

It would still be relentlessly negative if you only posted once a game, based on the last couple of years. Your first post in the match thread seems to always appear straight after the first opposition goal, as if you were asleep in Kelvin's goal and got hit in the face.

Oh, come on !! Todays Coventry goal was almost the first kick of the game ! Thats hardly fair, I'd only just got to my PC.
