the wedge Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 I'm delighted. A local game for me either way.
Saints foreva Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Quite boring but good chance of getting to the next round.
Gingeletiss Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 People call it "boring" but it is an excellent chance to get to the 5th round. Cardiff and Millwall have in recent years made the final as Championship clubs. Saints could do the same perhaps and we'd all be going to Wembley twice. Is that boring? This ^ Beatable teams all the way, as far as I'm concerned.

Good points... would have preferred a home tie though.
Window Cleaner Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Won't get many tickets from Dagenham though, a few more from Millwall.
LGTL Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Quite a few all prem ties, Saints have a chance of progressing quite far hopefully.
Chez Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Excellent draw. D&R was a fantastic day out match when we played them in league 1 and Millwall away brings back memories of a brilliant night in 2003

Except with our away form it will probably be an easy win for Millwall.
Berkshire Saint Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Decent draw I think. Not had many London away days recently. Hopefully it will be Millwall so we get more tickets.

League and Cup Double perhaps for the Saints
Chez Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Won't get many tickets from Dagenham though, a few more from Millwall.Millwall have that second tier should enough fans want to go.

Cardiff and Millwall have in recent years made the final as Championship clubs. Saints could do the same perhaps and we'd all be going to Wembley twice. Is that boring? But have not gone up. Show me a team outside the top flight who have got to a cup final AND gone up?! This is my concern!
Gingeletiss Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Except with our away form it will probably be an easy win for Millwall. Have you caught Alpineitis?
Chez Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Except with our away form it will probably be an easy win for Millwall.wasn't for Cov
John Boy Saint Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Fairly inert bill of fare dished up by the draw, ITV have something to get über moist about Liverpool v Manure.
Window Cleaner Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Millwall have that second tier should enough fans want to go. yes Millwall should be OK but we'll get about 900 from Daggers, not even enough to satisfy our awayday regulars,so there'll be a ballot and all the old moaning and whingeing that goes with it.
SNSUN Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Terrible draw but I'd rather play Daggers. Dropped like a stone since our stay in League One. Bet it'll be Millwall though. :-(
Dr Who? Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Southampton 1976 Cup 1978 Promotion Not the same year. I think there are plenty. Same season promotion andvcp final does not happen. Teams struggle and even get relegated because of cup runs. You know we will get through a couple and go out, just like the league cup.
LGTL Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Hoping for Dangenham & Redbridge, missed the trip there in League 1 so would be good to cross it off the list.
SaintNeil90 Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Seems to be an awful large amount of 'refs' who are quoting the rules, when in fact they are laws.... "A player who jumps into a tackle two-footed is not in control of himself and therefore if he makes contact with the player, ball and player, or if the referee determines there to be excessive malice in the challenge, he will be dismissed. Where did you get this... Its not written in the rules
david in sweden Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Who wanted Millwall or Daggers? well if you want another game for our youngsters to play in (and go further in the competition) you couldn't have chosen anything easier than D&R.
Dr Who? Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Who dug up Barry Fry and put him on the telly?! My god ITV have scraped the bottom of the barrel.
Chez Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 yes Millwall should be OK but we'll get about 900 from Daggers, not even enough to satisfy our awayday regulars,so there'll be a ballot and all the old moaning and whingeing that goes with it.a ballot, blimey, there's only three weeks before the tie, our lot need about two months to sort out a ballot.
Matthew Le God Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 But have not gone up. Show me a team outside the top flight who have got to a cup final AND gone up?! This is my concern! Why do you think they are mutually exclusive?
Griffo Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Really can't decide whether to bother with this or not. Depends on ticket pricing.
ludgershallsaint Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Another Saturday home 3pm game goes west if we get through 4th round. Due to play Derby on 5th round day.
Saint_Jim Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 If I remember correctly didnt we play Millwall in the 4th round in 2003, its a sign!
VectisSaint Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Except with our away form it will probably be an easy win for Millwall. 100% win rate in our last 1 away game
Chez Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Another Saturday home 3pm game goes west if we get through 4th round. Due to play Derby on 5th round day.who cares?
thefunkygibbons Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Ah well, won't get excited for a few more rounds yet
John Cool Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 If I remember correctly didnt we play Millwall in the 4th round in 2003, its a sign! Last gasp equaliser from Kevin Davies kept us in the cup.
Chez Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 how many aways to get one of the 950 tickets at D&R I wonder?
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 we'll get Everton or Millwall And what are next week's lottery numbers?
ludgershallsaint Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 who cares? I do old chap. Obviously you don't.
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 On Kompany, I thought at full speed it just looked like a tackle and my old man was amazed he was sent off, but when you watch it again he does go in with both feet off the ground. I don't think Foy called it wrong - I reckon 50% of refs would give a red and 50% a yellow. Truth is Kompany was told (as were all players) that if you go in with both feet off the ground it is a red card. If he does it and is sent off, is it Foy's fault??
Chez Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 I do old chap. Obviously you don't.Obviously. Getting through to the next round is more important to me than whether Derby is on a Saturday or midweek.
RonManager Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 How can we possibly play Dagenham in the 4th round? We ARE Dagenham according to Skeletor!
explorer saint Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Good draw for the Hammers they can concentrate on the league
View From The Top Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 who cares? Perhaps the stack of Northern based season ticket holders who can't do mid-week games?
Orange Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 People call it "boring" but it is an excellent chance to get to the 5th round. Cardiff and Millwall have in recent years made the final as Championship clubs. Saints could do the same perhaps and we'd all be going to Wembley twice. Is that boring? This. Although i would have much prefered a lot of other aways its an ok draw. Some more PL clubs will be knocked out, so we can mabye progress. Not too far, and London aways tend to be decent.
Jack Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Not a bad draw at all. Very winnable London away day. Hoping Millwall go through so we get a big allocation
Chez Posted 8 January, 2012 Posted 8 January, 2012 Perhaps the stack of Northern based season ticket holders who can't do mid-week games?I didn't think about them. Sorry chaps, when we get to Wembley perhaps the missed Derby game won't hurt so much.
