Really good 2nd half.

Sounded like a GK howler for the winner, but we pushed very hard in that 2nd half and made those opportunities with a pretty young team.

We needed to end that losing run, and we have. We now go into the Forest game with a bit of a boost.

I'm gonna repost this here because I think it's relevant.

On the match thread, someone asked why Adkins 'gets it so wrong and leaves it so long to change it', and this was my reply:

This nicely highlights many of the problems we have at the moment, but not in a way you might think.

It highlights why some fans' black-and-white thinking (and often Dave Merrington's too) means they make fools of themselves.

Nigel Adkins always has a plan. He watches the opposition, he sends a team and formation out to do a job. He changes things, he tries things, and he is always analysing what is going on. Sometimes it works nicely. Sometimes, the opposition don't play as Nigel might have expected, sometimes Saints' don't play quite how he intended or players having a poor game mean we don't do the job intended. Sometimes luck plays a part. That's football. Stuff happens, things change. It is never a question of simply getting something 'right' or 'wrong'. That only happens in hindsight.

Nigel will get stuff wrong, but everything he does is done for a reason and I would rather someone like him in charge to get us out of a bad patch, rather than rely on luck of a chequebook.

He has earnt our trust IMO. And when the going gets tough, it is even more important to recognise this.

Can't wait to hear how the youngsters did from the fans there. Well done lads, and congrats especially to JWP and Martin.

Excellent confidence boost, with a number of our youngsters playing their part today.

Forest drew today so they will have a mid-week reply to worry about while we can rest...

Please let this be the corner turned..

Well done kids. Wish we hadn't played Lallana though, surely a good time for a rest and let Holmes play.

Result of the day? Forest 0 Leicester 0, extra fixture for both to worry about when we play them.

Good point on the forest result - nice.

Went for a sleep at HT.

Delighted to see the lads pull this around, especially with Martin and JWP scoring.

On a personal note, first time I have never given a toss about the FA Cup. Its really loosing its 'magic'

That sort of thing never seems to make a difference against us. Brighton we knackered and down to their last dozen players, remember ?

Good result. Sounded like a game of 2 formations.

Really happy the nippers were involved in a game we won (after losing to Palace).

I'll take a winnable home-game in the next round please.

still here in a box. Just goes to show football is a confidence game. Changed completely after equaliser. We were like the team we were before the slump. This changes our season for me.

Yes good result good for moral but please NA stop using this diamond formation for long periods, first 45 mins were not at all good, when we went to the standard 442 in the 2nd half we started to dominate.

Very pleased. An important win to stop the rot. Don't care what they say about the cup being a distraction. This will be good for momentum and to ease Adkins' pressure.

Whens the draw?
the number 1 reason why we had to win today as the draw is bloody horrible if you are already knocked out.

Hooray! Now, who do we want in the fourth round?

ManUre at home, followed by a repeat of the home form that followed!! :^)
