Mali group.....

Wifag a subsidiary of the Mali group and has had to shed some jobs.

Katherina is off the board at the Mali group.....Mr Cortese is on now on the board of the Mali group.....

A rough translation....

Two days after the end of the consultation nobody could find out or it was unclear if the 50 employees of the Wifag-were still employed or unemployed.

It looked like the owner of Mali International ag had decided to let the majority of them go. On Friday morning the employees were informed and 31 of them had to go straight away or had to sign their unemployment letters.

Neither Katerina Liebherr or Nicola Cortese were present during the firing of these employees but it looks like she gave Cortese the responsibility for carrying out these actions.

After the surprising death of Marcus Liebherr 14 months ago, his daughter Katerina and the whole team tried to continue the business in Bern in the manner he undertook it.

In the last few months it became apparent that Mali could no longer deliver Marcus's plans for the site. An employee said " all that stuff about the chicken".

There wasn't any sign of entrepreneurial flair subsequent to his death and two people have attempted to be the leaders of the group but haven't been successful at it since Marcus died. It is said that the whole Mali group maybe broken up (and presumably sold on if profitable?).

There seems to be very little left of Marcus's life work except a few patents and the money he earned.

Next on the site in Bern two other daughter companies in Beringen also had numerous redundancies made but nobody at the Mali group wanted to comment on this."

If someone wishes to translate in a better way than the above, fill your boots..........

This is either very concerning or completely irrelevant to SFC,make up your own mind....Mr Cortese is far more involved in the Mali group than i thought.

SFC is a Mali asset, therefore, it could share the fate of the assets of the rest of the group.

Mali seems to be marking time with no-one driving the group, and the businesses are in decline because of it. Therefore, those who inherited Mali may decide to cash in their chips.

This does NOT sound good for the future of SFC - the club could be sold to god knows who.

Or it might be kept as a Liebherr/NC plaything.

Towards the bottom is where it states Nicola joined the board....27/10/11.....and when Katherina left.....

http://www.moneyhouse.ch/en/p/Nicola-Cortese

This just sounds to me like she inherited it, doesnt know what to do with it or how to run it, so its been handed over to someone she trusts.

Problem is, if its having problems, its going to be distracting our Chairman.

My Translation of the key points:

'The Mali Group is lacking someone with an entreprenuerial spirit since the untimely death of Marcus Liebherr'

'Marcus's death changes everything'

A rather dissappointed employee compared Marcus's death as leaving the Mali group like a headless chicken, running around completely randomly before bleeding to death.......... so in other words, not dissimiliar to watching Portsmouth FC play football...

The whole Mali group is breaking up.

Not too sure about Swiss employment law but in Germany it is incredible difficult to fire someone who is already in a permanent job, in fact it is almost impossible unless that employment is caught stealing. The only time you are allowed to fire people is if the business is loosing lots of money and close to going under. . .

All I want to know is whether Southampton Football Club is an intrinsically linked subsidiary of an ailing parent company (Mali) or what....?

And has anyone checked to see if they've started a "Saints Takeover Saga" thread on Pompey-Online yet...?

I assume we won't get a points deduction this time in light of pompey's lack of punishment...

Is it? I didn't think we were ever part of the Mali group.

I'm not sure anybody really knows much about anything that goes on behind the scences at SFC these days do they? What our status/relationship is with Markus's family and estate is anyones guess just like the question of how much money the club does/doesn't have.

As said above,we'll have a better idea how rich we are by the end of the month.

SFC is a Mali asset.

What makes you think that?

When the takeover happened it was announced as being a personal purchase by Markus Liebherr who "also owns and controls the Swiss-based Mali Group". "Also" being the key word.

Even the club's website now says the owner is the "estate of Markus Liebherr", not the Mali Group.

ML's money came from the sale of his shares in the Liebherr group. MALI was set up using that money and his brains. With him gone it looks asc though it has foundered. If anything this is good news for Saints as 1. ML's daughter clearly has NC closely involved with the family affairs. 2. With MALI gone Saints may be the beneficiary of closer attention

I believe this is good news for saints!

The key part of significance is the mention of cortese.

It shows the influence and control he actually holds in Marcus' overall business and ultimately money.

As long as he stays fully behind his Sfc dream, we have nothing to worry about. So to all the cortese knockers out there, please do **** off if you want good of the club...

This rumour has alaready been rubbished on another thread - putting development on hold would be very costly indeed.

I agree. A company can't just 'stop' design and construction progress just like that without incurring costs. I know, as the job I am on currently has gone into hiatus and the Client is paying for my time and a site set up with nothing being progressed. In fact they are paying for me to sit in an office and prepare tenders for other jobs.

I am sure though that any impact would have been felt by now.

And? That's nothing to do with the reason given for work at Staplewood being put on hold.

I think the lad who said it defineately wasnt on hold had a Dad or Brother as site manager down there, so if true, I'm guessing he would know.

Right. So the various others that have spoken to people at the club and have been told its on hold were making it up? I drove past last week and couldn't see any signs at all of construction set-up. Would happily be proved wrong, but it does look like they're waiting until the end of the season which is fair enough.

Drama queen... Trust you to leap on a bit of potential negativity...

We're doomed, doomed I tell ya!

You mean sit in your office looking at Saintsweb, while firing off a few emails with massive attachments full of useless paperwork that the subbies never read anyway? ;-)

We are owned by DMWSL 613 Limited and latest accounts are to 30th June 2010 which have already been commented on. Any adverse trading by ML companies cannot be good for SFC as funds into the family will be reduced. As far as Staplewood is concerned,I can only watch Saints Player and there does not seem any work going on the buildings or anything else as far as I can see. We have asked Tom, whose brother is site manager for an up to date resume, but this has not been forthcoming as yet.

We're assuming that a company has been appointed as the constructor of this project right? I do't recall this happening. It's almost two years since the original plans were made public by The Club and they appointed Farnrise as the company. This appears to have fallen over at some point. Since then, no other news. Would seem to match up that no-one has been appointed given that the only action in two years is the portacabins and nothing else.
