cambsaint Posted 5 January, 2012 Share Posted 5 January, 2012 Not strictly Saints related but it really made me laugh and I think it deserves a wide circulation! ""You're in a shoe shop, second in the queue for the till. Behind the shop assistant on the till is a pair of shoes which you have seen and which you must have. The female shopper in front of you has seen them also and is eyeing them with desire. Both of you have forgotten your purses. It would be rude to push in front of the first woman if you had no money to pay for the shoes. The shop assistant remains at the till waiting. Your friend is trying on another pair of shoes at the back of the shop and sees your dilemma. She prepares to throw her purse to you. If she does so, you can catch the purse, then walk round the other shopper and buy the shoes! At a pinch she could throw the purse ahead of the other shopper and "whilst it is in flight" you could nip around the other shopper, catch the purse and buy the shoes! BUT, you must always remember that until the purse has "actually been thrown", it would be plain wrong for you to be in front of the other shopper and you would be OFFSIDE! Big_Bald_Si Posted 5 January, 2012 Share Posted 5 January, 2012 Wasn't there a sexist thread closed yesterday, and the member in question banned? Just saying.....
FloridaMarlin Posted 5 January, 2012 Share Posted 5 January, 2012 The Queen look a bit puzzled by it all. Will linesmen now carry coins in their pockets and take them out to have a quick check before raising their flags? OP is a bit condescending. My wife knows the offside law. Dimond Geezer Posted 5 January, 2012 Share Posted 5 January, 2012 IIRC should any part of the forwards body that is permitted to come into contact with the ball (ie all of it except the hands), be beyond the defender, then he is offside. Clearly the top of The Queens head is offside.
Turkish Posted 5 January, 2012 Share Posted 5 January, 2012 Surely this post is sexist?
Saint_clark Posted 5 January, 2012 Share Posted 5 January, 2012 (edited) Wasn't there a sexist thread closed yesterday, and the member in question banned? Just saying..... Indeed. Considering how well Sian Massey has done since she started in the PL, I think it's time the whole "women don't know the offside rule" thing is left behind. I've met a fair share of blokes how have no idea how it works. Edited 5 January, 2012 by Saint_clark
