former Saints on the move...

a quick look at the early transfers sees some loans out for 3 former Saints players...

Brett Ormerod now 35 and (sometime favourite in the Strachan era 10 years ago) moved to Rochdale on loan from Blackpool.

(Never a star player but an honest worker, Brett has now clocked up over 450 apps.in umpteen clubs since his teenage debut with Accrington) .

Michael Poke was with Saints from the age of 12..but his time never really came, although he did get a handful of games in our final days in the Prem.MOved to 7 and now loaned out from Brighton (excuse the swearword) now on loan to L2 Bristol Rovers, who are going through a torrid time and sacked manager paul Buckle at the weekend.

Poke replaces Scott Bevan (another former Saints junior GK) who himself was subbed at HT in the 2-5 home defeat which led to Buckles sacking . (Michael Poke's inauspicious start with Rovers was a 2-0 defeat yesterday).

Neil Trotman one time loanee from Bolton ? (remember him ?) .now moved from Rochdale to Chesterfield..just about found his level in L2.

Think you have got poke mixed up with Alan Blayney. Poke never played in the premierleague. That last prem season, our keeps were Niemi, Smith Blayney and Keller

THYX Ben,

Memory playing tricks on me again. We had quite a few young keepers around in that period and almost none of them got to play much....

Remember Poke playing in a 5-0 defeat under Pearson away to Hull. He was carrying a knock IIRC.

That was a hideous performance in the fog! I seem to remember some Slovakian lad on the bench who didn't have the bottle to come on hence why Poke carried on injured... I may have made that up.

Matej Rondos?

He was poor. Remember watching him for the U18s. Error after error after error.

Anthony Pulis has been released by Aldershot after only playing eight games for them. He didn't play any for us, played in a League Cup game for the blue few, and maybe 30 game for a dozen other football league clubs. I never saw him play so have no idea if his father's name cast any impression positively or negatively.

Given he never played for Saints is he really a "former Saint on the move" :?

I don't know.... I saw Pulis play in the pre-season match against Eastleigh last season.....

"Play"? Not really how I would describe his contribution. His team-mates certainly were more than a little reticent in passing the ball to him. He ran around a bit and tried to look interested (well, Pardew was sat in the stands looking on at the team he had decided to take on, so he probably knew he had to make an impression).

Blayney currently at Linfield in Irish League. Saw their game with rivals Glentoran on TV in November, and he made a few errors in that one!

Liked these bits especially; 'The technically gifted midfielder' and "He's played for good clubs - Stoke City, Portsmouth and Southampton."

Maybe they should properly research the number of appearances he made for us...

I like 'it's good for us that he will have his aunty and uncle within twenty minutes of him.'

bless.

......and the bit about Orlando boss Adrian Heath..(didn't he score a painful goal that put us out of a FA CUP Semi-Final one year ?)

(Heath says) ..He...(Anthony Pulis)..comes from a good pedigree.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA --woof! woof!
