BILLY Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Another one for the pot. What is he? A right winger? http://www.monthehoops.co.uk/showthread.php?t=13169&p=37231#post37231 Southampton are ready to bid for "injured" Kris Commons in the next couple of weeks. Im led to believe they are not the only team interested but they will be at the forefront of any bids recieved.
S-Clarke Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Can play left, right or AMC. typical goal scoring/attacking midfielder. Would add good variation to our midfield in an attacking sense.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 28 years old - worthy of a three year contract. Prem quality? Probably. Injury record? Not too good.
dannysfc Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Yeh I for one would most definately welcome that move unless something else happens like that Tandari Lee guy who may be signing or whatever but we'l see!!! COYR !!!
BILLY Posted 3 January, 2012 Author Posted 3 January, 2012 Yeh I for one would most definately welcome that move unless something else happens like that Tandari Lee guy who may be signing or whatever but we'l see!!! We could do with both of them really!
georgeweahscousin Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 He has always looked poor when I have seen him, but speaking to fans of clubs he have played for they all say the same thing. Great player when he wants to be, but sometimes doesn't look interested.
Smirking_Saint Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Meh, i see it like you cousin, on his game he is a great player but when he has an off game is pretty forgettable, plus probably on big wages
david in sweden Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 (edited) think some of these may be "loans" - rather than money on the table, especially if players have an injury record. 81 goals in over 300 league games, not bad for a winger... plus ...9 games for Scotland (2 goals) 2010-11 Edited 3 January, 2012 by david in sweden
Chez Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 he can play when he wants to, but the fact he snubbed Forest's contract offers to join their most hated rivals on a free make me very uneasy.
Badger Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Think he had a rift with Lennon earlier in the season, so they might want to move him on. Not that keen as he does seem as said above a "poor mans AL".
dannysfc Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Yeh I for one would most definately welcome that move unless something else happens like that Tandari Lee guy who may be signing or whatever but we'l see!!! We could do with both of them really! Yeh well lets hope that NC digs really deep into his pockets to get both of them then BILLY!!!
saintstr1 Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 On his day Commons is a fantastic player , Last season he was great at Celtic , This season hasn't put in many appearances due to Injury mainly but also he doesn't always see eye to eye with Niel Lennon. He could just be a good buy if the price is right and he fancies getting to the premiership with saints. On top form I would say he is as good as anything we have.
saint_ben Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 i wouldnt be disapointed with commons as long as its on a loan with a view to pernament move in the summer
SNSUN Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 My word, an HCDAJFU from seasons past. I'd almost given up hope...
John Boy Saint Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Shows how many crocks we have bought through the years and how accepting many fans are of them signing for us. I would hope that NC & NA would not be putting Southampton at the head of queue to pay top price for an injured player: 28 is a funny age for players especially ones struggling to shake off an injury.
Lighthouse Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 I'd rather not if he's got injury problems. There isn't all that much space in our treatment room these days.
dubai_phil Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 One month loan as cover for AL who is off form of late and maybe carrying a niggle? Yeah that works
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 He has always looked poor when I have seen him, but speaking to fans of clubs he have played for they all say the same thing. Great player when he wants to be, but sometimes doesn't look interested. Finally we'd have a proper replacement for Puncheon...
stu0x Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 Shows how many crocks we have bought through the years and how accepting many fans are of them signing for us. I would hope that NC & NA would not be putting Southampton at the head of queue to pay top price for an injured player: 28 is a funny age for players especially ones struggling to shake off an injury. Demba Ba was injured and failed the medical at Stoke, and then moved to West Ham a couple of days later. He seems to have turned out okay. It amazes me how many people are still happy to write a player off based on what happened at another club. Didnt we sign a Celtic reject recently? How did that go for us?
SNSUN Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 Talented injury prone fat lad. Rickie was a fat lad before Adkins got hold of him. As an ex-physio, he's also more capable of dealing with crocks too. If we swoop for Commons, which I don't think we will anyway, I fully support it.
Big_Bald_Si Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 Why are we discussing a player where the source is some lad on a Celtic forum? Why am I even posting this?
Maggie May Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 Scored some choice goals in his early Forest days.
jimbojones10 Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 hes a very good player scores alot of goals aswell not scared to have a shot either.
hypochondriac Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 I would be happy of this were true because it shows we are still looking for a striker.
shirleysfc Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 I would be happy of this were true because it shows we are still looking for a striker. Isn't Commons a midfielder?
Matthew Le God Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 I would be happy of this were true because it shows we are still looking for a striker. He is a winger, not a striker.
hypochondriac Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 Apologies! Certain I read striker on wikipedia earlier.
Paul Chuckle Posted 4 January, 2012 Posted 4 January, 2012 He has played upfront in a support role before
JustMike Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Apologies! Certain I read striker on wikipedia earlier. haha almost as reliable as the football rumours website you like so much
Fan The Flames Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 He played up front for Derby. He's the Darren Anderson of the naughties. Three transfers only one fee of £300k, he waits until the end of his contract and moves for free so maximizes signing on fee or wages. Spells his name with a K. Walk on NA.
Gambol2K9 Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Why are we discussing a player where the source is some lad on a Celtic forum? Why am I even posting this? Neil Lennon's confirmed our interest.
Chez Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 He played up front for Derby. He's the Darren Anderson of the naughties. Three transfers only one fee of £300k, he waits until the end of his contract and moves for free so maximizes signing on fee or wages. Spells his name with a K. Walk on NA. Forest spent £300k and £Celtic 500k, so he has moved once on a free. Forest to Derby. Forest fans hate him because of it.
Dalek2003 Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 At £150k he could be our big investment to push for mid table mediocrity.
Chez Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 At £150k he could be our big investment to push for mid table mediocrity.just in case you forgot we spent 1.8m on Fox, £1m on Cork, £1.5m on de Ridder, and £1m on Jos. Personally I think that a pretty big investment in the side so have no qualms about us not spending £5m on whoever it is you think we should be buying. Remind us who it is we should be signing? And how much should we be spending?

Chez Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Calm down, I was pulling people legs on this one !really? Wow that's new. By the way, calmness personified me and I'm still interested in who you think we should had gone after and signed by now.
John B Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Apart from Fonte who have we ever signed in the window who has been any good. not many i would have thought
ulstersaint Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 The last loan /signing from Celtic turned out great. Trust Nigel.
doughnutman Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Apart from Fonte who have we ever signed in the window who has been any good. not many i would have thought Chaplow? Barnard?
S-Clarke Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Chaplow? Barnard? Puncheon to a degree, was quality with us for his first few months. Seaborne too, was a decent player to have around the place.
Matthew Le God Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Apart from Fonte who have we ever signed in the window who has been any good. not many i would have thought Since the Liebherr takeover... Guly Do Prado Barnard Puncheon Seaborne Chaplow
sotonjoe Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Since the Liebherr takeover... Guly Do Prado Barnard Puncheon Seaborne Chaplow Do Prado originally joined on loan in August before signing a permanent deal later. As a pedant yourself of the highest order, you really shouldn't leave yourself open to correction.
Matthew Le God Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 (edited) Do Prado originally joined on loan in August before signing a permanent deal later. As a pedant yourself of the highest order, you really shouldn't leave yourself open to correction. I haven't, because the question was "who have we ever signed in the window who has been any good". He was referring to the January window and Guly Do Prado signed in January, had he not he would have gone back to Cesena. It meets the criteria asked for. Edited 7 January, 2012 by Matthew Le God
hypochondriac Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 haha almost as reliable as the football rumours website you like so much Hardly the same thing as you well know
Dalek2003 Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 really? Wow that's new. By the way, calmness personified me and I'm still interested in who you think we should had gone after and signed by now. You don't come across like that.
