This Charming Man Posted 3 January, 2012 Share Posted 3 January, 2012 We have a pretty tough run-in this month. We've already lost to Brighton, then have Forest away followed by two tough home games in the form of Cardiff and Leicester. Could it be possible we go pointless for the entire month? With Lambert missing 2 league games now (unless we draw at Cov) we will struggle up front unless a new signing is imminent. This isn't an over the top, knee jerk reaction because of yesterday, I've thought we've been pretty poor for about the last 7 games and have rode our luck on numerous occasion's recently. The transfer window will make or break our season. 3/4 good signings and the automatic promotion charge will be back on track.
Jack Posted 3 January, 2012 Share Posted 3 January, 2012 It's saints, we'll probably get d*cked by forest then win the home games.
Jonnyboy Posted 3 January, 2012 Share Posted 3 January, 2012 We will get points but I think most of us would be surprised if we were still top at the end of the month.

S-Clarke Posted 3 January, 2012 Share Posted 3 January, 2012 We will, yep. We play better against better teams, always has been the case. I expect us to beat Leicester, and we should beat Forest because of the way they setup and the clueless manager they have... We always see posts like this after we've lost a couple, and 99% of the time they are bounced back up at the end of the month because we've got 9 out of 9 or something. 7/9 points from this month, going into feb. on 54/55, probably wouldn't stay top but we'd still be there or there about's. Jack Posted 3 January, 2012 Share Posted 3 January, 2012 Pretty sure if we did get 7 points in Jan (I don't think we will, but for arguement's sake) then we'd still be top. West Ham haven't been all that, Boro got spanked at the weekend. Cardiff are going well but are a few behind.
Turkish Posted 3 January, 2012 Share Posted 3 January, 2012 Without lambert in the team i dont think we have even scored so far this season so it doesnt bode well. 4 points will realistically be the most we can expect considering our form at the teams we have to face. doddisalegend Posted 3 January, 2012 Share Posted 3 January, 2012 We've taken 8 points from the last 24 available. That's terrible... Were you expecting us to run away with the league? we had a great run but there was no way a side straight up from league one was going to power it's way staright into the prem while staying top of the league all season. We're having a wobble there is no doubt (yet somehow we're still top of the league). We've still only lost once at home this season... so we just need to stay in around the top four and hope for a strong finish.
Blandford saint Posted 3 January, 2012 Share Posted 3 January, 2012 Depends who we sign and when Chaplow's back - he was in the form of his life when he got injured.

I'm shocked at where we are at the moment but now we're here we need to capitalise on it. This is a tough league to get out of and we need to make the most of our current position. We're top of the league on merit and it would be a shame to balls it up now.

Turkish Posted 3 January, 2012 Share Posted 3 January, 2012 this. we are doing ever so well. having a blip,we are still top, lets regroup, get one or two players in and hold our nerve. coyr A blip is 3 or 4 games. We have taken 8 points from 8 games. That is more than a blip. All teams get injuries and suspensions, we dont seem to be able to cope with them. Will the Pompey fans be wearing west ham shirts & hoping west ham beat them? They could make up a song about their contribution to knocking us off the top spot!! Dalek2003 Posted 7 January, 2012 Share Posted 7 January, 2012 I am pretty pessimistic about our chances of signing new players. I think our form of about 8 points per month will continue, at best, could even be worse. Unless there is serious strengthening my prediction of 17th will not look so wayward as those predicting top 2 or even top 6 !

MbaleSaint Posted 7 January, 2012 Share Posted 7 January, 2012 I find it very unlikely that a team that went a whole year without losing at home will now lose three home games in a row.
