Rumour: Ched Evans

Currently on my UEFA B down at the AMEX Stadium, ironically. Just sat with a lad from Saints foundation, he seems to think Saints put in a bid for Ched Evans today. Good friends with Aaron Martin from Eastleigh days. He also re mentioned the building work at Staplewood is being delayed due to our current run (so links back to a previous thread).

Thought I'd pass the gossip on.

Don't worry if I see Gus, I'll kick the cvnt.

Isn't he facing a rape trial in April?

A slight distraction if so....

[h=3]Rape charge[/h] On 30 May 2011,Ched Evans and former Manchester City player Javan Vidal were arrested over an alleged sex attack in his hometown of Rhyl.[14] On 26 July 2011 Evans and another professional footballer, Clayton McDonald, were formally charged with rape.[15][16] They both denied the charge and will face trial[17] in April 2012. Evans and McDonald are banned from entering North Wales as part of their bail conditions, however Evans managed to get Caernarfon Crown Court to change the conditions of his bail so that he could visit his parents on Christmas Day under curfew from 9am GMT Christmas day till 10am GMT Boxing Day before returning to Sheffield for training.[12]

They're halting building work at Staplewood because we're not playing well? Good grief. What a lack of confidence. What message does that send out to the whole cclub. Idiotic if true. And/or worrying if our finances are that frail. If we spend a few million on this and transfers, we might get £60m by going up. *sighs*

To create minimum disturbance to players facilities given that we are in shot of promotion.

Makes good sense.

Its a fair point - must be costing a fortune to put on hold just we lost the last two matches - the builders and the companies involved will still want paying if they are told just to sit on their arses for four months.

I'm not sure if this is a wind up post or not, but quite clearly they are suggesting the building work is being postponed due to where we are in the league, and the fact that they want the best possible environment to ensure we give it a good shot. Makes sense to me.

Not sure why they didn't start it after we won promotion tbh.

All building work is done in stages, and if there's no panic the companies involved can use personnel elsewhere...AND if they've be paid upto date -

No problem either. Besides..I wouldn' t want to pay builders double time over Christmas and The New Year.. if there wasn't a good reason to finish quickly.

Back to the player of the thread:

A trip before the beak pending for something as serious as rape! Barney still waiting for a trip before the beak for allegedly bottling someone. Do we have Solicitors lined up for the next shirt sponsor?!

I would imagine the cloud hanging over Barney alone would see us giving Evans a miss until after April/May as Sheffield Utd will want to get top dollar for him. Should he be found guilty how many folks would be impressed at us shelling out what would be over the odds for someone who could be doing porridge for a while.

It's quite simply because what the club want doing, what they want to spend on it and how much it actually costs are miles apart.

You know this for a 'fact'?, and of course, you'd be willing to share that insider information with us all!......or is this yet again, just your wild guess at things, to stir the pot?

I always thought the plans for the training ground would never come to fruition. Getting plans is just something to help NC sell the club for the Liebherr family..........

There is intent to redevelop the training ground. The survey and the designs would have cost a decent wedge, the temporary buildings are also in place ready for when the old stuff is knocked down. That's not made up, you can see those in the videos every week.

So the intention is there, it seems to just be a case of finding the right time so it doesn't affect the first team. Which is sensible, but then when will be the right time....?
