saintchris23 Posted 7 January, 2012 Share Posted 7 January, 2012 Give the guy his due, if you read his tweets and re-tweets, he really doesn't seem to have an attitude, nor does he seem to 'have it in" for SFC either......seems like he's ready to let bygones be bygones etc. He even re-tweeted someone who said " If you want saints fc to be in the prem, RT". del boy Posted 9 January, 2012 Share Posted 9 January, 2012 Puncheon's agent has an interesting balancing act to perform - on the one hand he wants to get the transfer fee as high as possible to maximise his cut, but on the other hand he doesn't want the price to put potential purchasers off. His current stance of stating that Blackpool's offer wasn't unreasonable "for a player currently training with the youth team" shows which side of the equation he's leaning towards Ole Jase must be wishing he hadnt queered his pitch - example well and truly set
ART Posted 9 January, 2012 Share Posted 9 January, 2012 It never ceases to amaze me about the comments made by so called fans that can only be a hindrance to the clubs efforts in signing or selling any of our players. There are those who never cease to rubbish players, their evaluation or abilities, thus ensuring other clubs, their supporters aren't prepared to pay the money we desperately need. Puncheon was worth more than a million but besides his own input, some Saints Web members are just happy to pour on fuel and allow him to become worthless. What type of society do we live these days where we're so quick to destroy, ridicule and write off a person, a player and fellow supporter. Scummer Posted 9 January, 2012 Share Posted 9 January, 2012 Can't believe Blackpool are so poor in the transfer market. Don't they know that if you want to sign a player you have to just get on with it and pay whatever amount the selling club ask for? They should have stumped up the £1m on January 1st, none of this fannying around.

S-Clarke Posted 9 January, 2012 Share Posted 9 January, 2012 We have had this £1m tag on his head for too long now. Clubs will not meet it, as we've seen window after window....which is why he ends up going out on loan on deadline day. Fair play to us for sticking our feet into the ground and wanting the most though, at the end of the day it's no loss either way for us. We either get what we want, or he goes back out on loan has a potentially good spell and then ends up being worth more. He won't be playing for us again anyway, I'm pretty sure of that. Saint Garrett Posted 10 January, 2012 Share Posted 10 January, 2012 His agent clearly wants him out the door. I think someone got it spot on earlier when they mentioned that it would improve a rival and NA doesn't want to do that. He hasn't been out on loan to a team in the same league as us yet, and although NA/NC don't like him, they both know he is a handy player and would do damage to us if he went somewhere else. buctootim Posted 10 January, 2012 Share Posted 10 January, 2012 1 million is a fair price for a 25 year old who had a good season in the premiership. Have no doubt that we will get that price for him. £1.5m is a fair price for a reliable 25 year old who had a good season in the premiership. £650k is a fair price for an unstable 25 year old who had a good season in the premiership but with a history of problems at a succession of clubs and who Saints are keen to get shot of. david in sweden Posted 10 January, 2012 Share Posted 10 January, 2012 according to Puncheon's agent ..Blackpool manager Holloway made a " reasonable offer" - £650K apparantly - for his player who (he says) Saints don't want. Whatever our intentions, every player has a price and even £1 million isn't THAT much for a player (the agent says) is sought after by " several Championship clubs " ....so where's the problem?... if those "other " clubs want him equally badly ...then we'll get our money eventually. I'd also like a sell-on clause because IF - Puncheon does do well and eventually moves onto the Prem..then even £1 million would like like a "steal ". I'm more than happy for Cortese to hold out for the full sum.!
RobM Posted 10 January, 2012 Share Posted 10 January, 2012 Add on top 'wasted' wages and that £650k seems very fair. If we were playing him, or even having him warm the bench, his wages wouldn't be a concern and we could hold out for more. But we're paying him to train with kids - kids who are above him in the pecking order - which is a waste. Even on a modest wage, it wouldn't take long to eat into the difference between £650k and £1m. Not to mention harmony at the club, which has to be considered. Just out of interest, where has this myth arisen that Puncheon had a good season in the Premiership? I believe he made a total of 11 appearances for Blackpool in half a season, and scored 3 goals. He has since made 2 apps for QPR. He has actually had a handful of good games in the Prem, maybe half a dozen in total. Reason they are after him now is because they could see that he might be half decent in the Championship. He really has not shown much as yet to suggest he is premiership quality. Clifford Nelson Posted 11 January, 2012 Share Posted 11 January, 2012 A players value is what anybody would be prepared to pay for him. (Just like buying and selling houses.) Puncheon is overpriced if nobody wants to sell him and underpriced if a lot of clubs want to buy him. The idea that there somehow is the "right" or "correct" price for a player, or for that matter a house or any other commodity, belongs to fantasy land. Estate agents valuations, for instance, are based on recent sale prices for similar houses. So if we could think of somebody very similar to Puncheon (poor and unwilling passer of the ball who repeatedly runs into trouble, as I remember him) and find out what they sold for, then we might be in the right area. Think of the clamour on here to sell Pulis. How can you sell somebody which nobody wants to buy. Hence we have still got Forecast. If I was a manager in the two top divisions I wouldn't even sign him on a free. Not that I am, and thank G for that, but maybe it might put things in perspective.
