Puncheon to the rescue?

Ok, let's wait for these mystical signings to turn up before we do anything to address the teams shortcomings.

Do you mean mystical or mythical? I didn't know that this alleged new striker was a fortune teller?

If you meant mythical I presume you'll be man enough to admit you were wrong when we do strengthen? Or will you slate them, then go quiet when they play well?

I really would like him back, people forget that in his first year he was named in league 1 team of the year and only really lost his place in the side because of the rise of the ox, he can be a very good player. He was sensational for millwall in the champ last year and was no mug in the premier league, if the saints management are going to refuse to deal with any modern day footballer who has a bit of a chip or ego then we should all kiss goodbye to saints ever signing top quality players.

I read somewhere that Punch was having discussions with NA today regarding his future, couldn't guarantee the accuracy though, think the same site said Morgan was going to Villa for 7 million and I doubt that really.

What time do I pick him up?

Well he's been training with the first team squad today and was seen shaking hands and all smiles with Adkins having a joke too........we shall see??

That can only be good news, maybe the report I read wasn't so far off base at all then, hope the second part doesn't come to pass though.

I am probably alone, but if we could get even an 80% interested Punch it could be like buying a new player!! I do believe in second and third chances, but you dont turn into a bad player overnight!

he's a football player for goodness sake (or can be when he wants to). The past is past, he didn't commit murder ...play him and see what happens, if it doesn't work out ..he was on his way anyway.

More Puncheon news at the bottom of this article. Results of fitness tests aside, it reads as if it's distinctly possible he'll be playing for us again.

"Jason Puncheon has also come back into the building for the first time this morning from being on loan. We have done a little MOT on him and assessed him from a fitness point of view, just to see where he is.

"We will sit down and have a discussion as to where we are with it, to see what his future holds with him. He has had almost a year out on loan now at Blackpool and then QPR, so we need to sit down and decide what the future holds."

I cant believe there's any debate over this. There's obviously a problem between him and Adkin's and I know who I'd back every day of the week. If Adkin's wants to freeze him out, then that's fine by me. We are hardly talking about a Matt Le Tiss/Ian Branfoot situation here. The guy "appears" to not want to play for the club, is not paticulary good anyway, so if Adkin's wants to freeze him out, what's the problem?

He's been out on loan at Millwall, Blackpool and Qpr, if he was a good as a few posters seem to think, then why is he still here? The occasional good game and a couple of flashes of good play, are not enough to convince me that Adkin's is wrong over this.

Is there a chance his attitude has changed?

Not in the sense that he's mellowed, but merely that it's no longer a L1 team he's struggling to get into due to a 17 year old, it's the top Championship side, possibly the best team he'll get right now, the chance to be part of a promotion, a team with few wingers and the chance to prove people wrong.

If he came in with the right attitude and the right reception from the fans, even if just for 5 months, he could be a fantastic addition, better than any midfield signing we could make really. His time at Millwall was superb after all. Could even play up front.

That's not a change in attitude though, that's just a change in the surroundings. The point is that we don't want him here because he got so sh*tty about being on the bench in a league one side to a 17 year old.

What if the question was - would you like for NA to give Puncheon another chance? We can easily agree that it's not worth discussing as long as NA (allegedly) does not want JP here, but what if they buried the hatchet - could JP add something to the team? Would the fans accept him back? etc..

This is absolute rubbish from the Echo as normal, I can 100% guarantee that he trained with the first team yesterday, that doesn't of course mean that

he'll be coming to our rescue but it would be nice if his (supposed) attitude is better and that Adkins is prepared to give him a last chance to prove his no doubted ability over the coming months in the race for promotion. I'm sure we will all know the answers to the Puncheon predicament sooner rather than later though?

The echo really do seem to grasp at straws.....

I personally would really like him to do well even if he does have previous with Adkins/Cortese (not to mention turning up to a funeral inapropriatly dressed) mainly due to the fact he's what we at times are missing. I'm sure that at some point he will realise that he will have to knuckle down if he's ever going to be taken seriously by anyone.

This myth has been dispelled a number of times. He was not wearing jeans and a t-shirt, as people seemed to want to believe at the time. He was wearing black trousers and a shirt. I can only imagine people got wound up about him not wearing a jacket - in summer, when nearly all the people outside were wearing Saints shirts and shorts.

I'd give him another go. He's a cracking player, and possibly just what we need right now.

The above statement seems to sugest exactly what you are after.- Expect to see him in a Saints shirt again soon.

The echo continue to do themselves no favours at all. Long gone are the days of something being in the echo about the club, you could take it as fact.... it is the complete opposite these days.

Just to add to what Saints_clark said, it also wasn't a funeral.

I know that but I'm sure you get the jist.

If the jist is skewing facts and inventing stories to support an opinion of someone, we get it.

I don't want to see JP back in the team, I've been open about that for a long time. But NA's comments on the OS suggest he will at least talk with him and see where his heads at. I can only imagine if JP says he wants to be involved again, wants to work for and with the team, will put in the effort and show patience, NA will give him the chance to prove that. If that is the case, I'll support it, I'm a Saints fan.

Somebody said to Puncheon on Twitter: shame u wont settle and commit to the saints , u could be the difference this season =)

Puncheon replied: got more chance winning the lottery than that happening

I think that pretty much sums up where his future lies.

JASON PUNCHEON:

'@saintkev1211 got more chance winning the lottery than that happening'
