Window Cleaner Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 What are you counting as "kids"? Ben Reeves is 20 years old, Ryan Doble turns 21 next month. They haven't been in the academy for a long time now. Yes they haven't played much, but they aren't much younger than Lallana, Cork and Schneiderlin. I meant rather Stevens and JWP plus a defender of some ilk. I haven't done the maths myself though.I fully expect to see Doble, maybe even starting with Connolly.I also expect us to rest Lallana and have Cork on the bench.
bpsaint Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 Judging by twitter Jaidi hasn't travelled with the squad either so I guess that rules him out.
THEVMAN Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 I think Doble and AL are playing upfront tomorrow, the squad has been stretched a fair bit as people have said.
derry Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 I think Doble and AL are playing upfront tomorrow, the squad has been stretched a fair bit as people have said. Might be a good game to miss.
Saint Garrett Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 Lallana up front ? Would have thought he was one player we wouldnt play.
S-Clarke Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 I think Doble and AL are playing upfront tomorrow, the squad has been stretched a fair bit as people have said. Interesting pairing. Doble needs to kind of start making his mark here now, what is he...22/23? Getting on a bit now in football terms! I imagine the squad for tomorrow will be very similar to the one which started against Crystal Palace in the carling cup? Ward Prowse/Reeves etc...
S-Clarke Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 Lallana up front ? Would have thought he was one player we wouldnt play. to be honest, I think he needs the game time to get his confidence and form back. It's not like he's knackered...he's just missing a bit of sharpness, which he lost during his injury.
Window Cleaner Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 I think Doble and AL are playing upfront tomorrow, the squad has been stretched a fair bit as people have said. Might be interesting then , think I must be alone in thinking that total Lambert reliance makes us a bit predictable.
scotty Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 Might be interesting then , think I must be alone in thinking that total Lambert reliance makes us a bit predictable. No you aren't. Even Rickie was quoted fairly recently as suggesting that teams had worked out to play us.
Norm Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 No you aren't. Even Rickie was quoted fairly recently as suggesting that teams had worked out to play us. I've being saying that (to much abuse) for weeks.
Chez Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Jason Puncheon is not in the squad.do you have the full squad list by chance?
Crazy Diamond Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Lukas Jutkiewicz a doubt for tomorrow - 50/50 chance.
surrey1saint Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 As besides anything else,Puncheon is not match fit,no surprises there!
Edmonton Saint Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Never been so unenthusiastic for a 3rd Round FA Cup tie ever. Apathy reigns supreme.
eurosaint Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 There have been suggestions that Jack Stephens will play, I guess that if this actually happens then Butterfield will be on his bike and out of the building ??
Chez Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 There have been suggestions that Jack Stephens will play, I guess that if this actually happens then Butterfield will be on his bike and out of the building ??ideal place to blood him in the first team. Hope he does play and shines.
beatlesaint Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 There have been suggestions that Jack Stephens will play, I guess that if this actually happens then Butterfield will be on his bike and out of the building ?? Unless Butterfield plays right side of midfield to help the boy, he has played there before, although not for us admittedly.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 As besides anything else,Puncheon is not match fit,no surprises there! No suprise. On Soccer AM last week he said he had not been training as he was not involved with the QPR first team so asked Warnick if he could instead spend time with his family. Nice to see just how serious he was taking his football in preparation to come back to us.
Colinjb Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 I've been looking forward to this, another chance to get one over my 'dear neighbours.' I assume we are playing the kids today, will be good to see how they get on. Hope Ward-Prowse is given a run out.
Andy Durman Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Looking forward to seeing our strength in depth today. Honestly expecting to lose, but thats not my aim today. Don't expect to see today Lukas Jutkiewicz. I'll be surprised as Coventry will be selling him shortly. How can Coventry survive with a crowd expected of only 6,000
VectisSaint Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 I assume we are playing the kids today, will be good to see how they get on. Hope Ward-Prowse is given a run out. Hopefully not, we have FA Youth Cup game this morning. Might see some of the Development Squad, given its 7 subs today (I think)
Weston Saint Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Whilst many will be suprised that Lallana is playing, our fit and available squad up front makes it necessary. From what I know of Adam, he will want to play every game and will relish leading the line or playing in the hole. I predict he will shine today.
thorpie the sinner Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 We keep talking about the need for two strikers or not! Today proves it imo if we are serious about promotion!!! Lee and one other, hopefully Sharp, maybe LJ, maybe a n other!!! Give Ricky time to rest on occasion but have solid back up!

From what I know of Adam, he will want to play every game and will relish leading the line or playing in the hole. I predict he will shine today. doesn't surprise me. He has been so off the pace the last month or more and from what you have said he has not been injured, so he clearly needs to improve his fitness and find his best form again. Without Adam firing at his best we are not going to get promoted. He was in amazing form earlier in the season and a major reason why we are top. If he find that again we can cope with missing Chaplow Personally I think one of his best ever games was against Reading at their place in the relegation season when he played in the hole. The position is made for him.
chocco boxo Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 I remember the time, not so long ago, that FA Cup 3rd round day was the most anticipated in the foseason. Always big away support wherever you were playing. Where has it all gone wrong. So true in 1978 this sort of draw would have seen us take 5,000 at least.

Matthew Le God Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Hopefully not, we have FA Youth Cup game this morning. It is a league game.
stuartru Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Could be an omen today as my son is born today come on saints do us proud
Itchen_block4 Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Hopefully not, we have FA Youth Cup game this morning. Might see some of the Development Squad, given its 7 subs today (I think) The FAYC isn't until Wednesday. The game this morning is a youth league game against Palace. That won't stop the best of the kids from going to the Rixcoh.
Colinjb Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Just off to the local. Then a taxi ride to the Stadium at about 2. Safe journey to all those travelling up, fingers crossed that the kids are alright!
View From The Top Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 So true in 1978 this sort of draw would have seen us take 5,000 at least. Shows how far the FAC has fallen.
ecuk268 Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 For any non-locals, as it's not a league game, Solent are allowed to put live commentary on their website.

aintforever Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 I can see us playing for a draw and accidently winning.
Window Cleaner Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 We will engineer a draw. To cut down on league games in Lambert's suspension....forget it, why exhaust the whole group with an extra game for the sake of one player. We will go to win and if we lose, well it's not the end of the world.
Mattio Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Why would we want a draw? Lambert is one player, you can't risk 10 other players for 90 minutes getting injured...

Window Cleaner Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 But what a chance for the nippers! there will be plenty of opportunities for them to be on the bench in times to come.Don't see any of them starting today except for Doble and he's no nipper.
bender Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 just arrived and in our box. Just saw Deano talking to the players on the pitch. Nice ground. Nice box.
VectisSaint Posted 7 January, 2012 Posted 7 January, 2012 Why would we want a draw? Lambert is one player, you can't risk 10 other players for 90 minutes getting injured... Because we can't win or even score unless our Talisman is playing. Bugger the other players, it doesn't matter if they are dead on their feet, with Lambert in the team we will win. In any case if we could get a replay we could field 11 youngsters and not risk any of our first teamers, we could even put Tommy Fourpast in goal to ensure we lost the replay. We only need first teamers today in order to get a draw.
