Like they were for all four seasons at St Mary's in the Premier League?

They have to get their first. Saints would look pretty stupid expanding to 40k and then blowing the promotion, wouldnt they?

QPR will never/should never expand to 45k. Simply don't have a consistent/big enough fanbase for it.

Same could be said for saints when they were getting 17k at the dell. Wed get 45k for the big games but 30k for the likes of Blackburn, Norwich Bolton etc. Thats still a massive amount of different in money to 16-18k which is currently a home sell out.

what did everyone think of their new ground?i personally thought they had 1 good 3 tier stand 2 ends that seem to go half way across and back then stop and another side that stopped half way up so they could write american express in huge letters ,very dissappointed in it,too much concrete and not enough seats

I thought it was the worst new stadium I've been to in ages. The Ricoh is better, and the Ricoh is gash. Convenient for the train, as long as you don't mind walking to the other end of the ground uphill and then back against half the people in the ground walking to their cars, and with ridiculously small stands on 3 sides that make it look worse than Withdean in places. The one stand was just silly, and the stuff they were banging on about on the BBC regarding making it "special" for away fans turned out to be a red light shining on the underside of the concourse roof and an overhead projector showing washed out slides of about 8 current players on infinite loop. They did, apparently, have Forty-Niner for sale, but the queues were so long and it was so packed it was pointless trying to buy one anyway.

As for the "comfy" seats, no better than MK's ground, and used for an equal period of precisely 15 minutes at half time.

Cardiff City Stadium absolutely kicks its arse, and I hate Cardiff City.

Fortunately Brighton itself is full o'pubs and it's difficult to have a genuinely bad day out there even with unwarranted 3-0 red card debacles.

I went to the England v USA match during the RWC in France, which was staged at Lens stadium, Stade Felix Bollaert. 42,000 seated four sided concrete monstrosity with an incline like Beachy head, but a real rough diamond of a ground. Rather like the Dell's ugly muscle bound big brother. Full the atmosphere is very intense and you are right on top of the players. If SMS is ever expanded in the Prem a raised 'Kop' might be an idea behind the goal to provide a focal point for noisy support.

Brighton's Tampax stadium on the other hand seems more National Express stop than football ground. The only thing going for it is that you can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal, you can do whatever you feel! Apparently...

went there in the 98 world cup when england played colombia, with some 35000 england fans the atmosphere was electric
