"We totally dominated first half, game plan worked a treat."

"Created great opportunities, we scored a goal."

"I didn't see it at the time." (on the red card)

"There's a coming together, Rickie is grappled, they got him in a brace, Rickie pushed him away and he has pushed their lad. The referee has sent him off, nothing we can do."

"Because of a coming together it happened, I don't know."

"The sending off changed the whole complexion, it changed the game."

"We believe that we will still win this division. We will stick together, be positive, we are still doing good things."

"There will be urgency in the window, as before today. We've got 12 days and I expect things to happen by then."

"Until pen has been put to paper, we cannot announce or reveal anything. There will be movement."

Well, I find that summary very re-assuring especially the last three points. The proof will be in the pudding.

Agreed. Most reassuringly, it suggests the wheels have been in motion for a while, not just as a knee-jerk reaction to the last few weeks. So hopefully the guys brought in a long-term targets rather than short-term panics.

Spot on by adkins, love the guy, we need to support him now.

I thought Adkins and Deanos interviews were outstanding, and as fans it's exactly the sort of drive and passion you want to hear when you're in a bad patch.

We're still a close group and a 'team', we just need to pull together through our worst patch with these players (words from deano)

He didnt mention our tactics and the fact we cant defend against wide players when we are narrow. Lets hope we can put this right! December and the New Year so far have been a disaster.

We never looked like conceding today until the sending off. Today was not poor because it was a bad performance. We played well... At half time I was confident we would win but the sending off changed everything.

So long as he delivers. It's very easy to pick out the positives, managers are paid to do so - look at SK at Blackburn, been doing it for ages.

The difficult bit, is looking at the negatives and putting them right.

Yes we had some bad luck by the sound of things, but teams that win titles do so by overcoming their bad luck - not capitulating 3 nil.

Yes but I would think Adkins has more than earned the trust from the fans so it is disappointing to see them react with a 'actions speak louder than words' response to that. The transfer window has been open 48hrs. If no movement by the time the Leicester game comes around then fine, but for now put a bit more trust in a Manager who has given the club an outstanding 18 months.

It's action we need not words from the manager. He seems to talk a good talk, he now needs to motivate the players. Has done a good job up until now, judge him at the end of the season.

Lol.

Why laugh, Geof is exactly right. I'll give NA the benefit of the doubt, but he needs to deliver, so do the players. Talking up the 'positives' after a defeat is toutamount to making excuses.

We need to get back to winning ways quickly - don't see anything to laugh about really.

Yet another cock.

Why is he a cock? Because he has a different opinion to you? Why don't you respond to the (fair, IMO) points he's making rather than just insult him? If you care about this team as much as I suspect you do, you should be able to do that quite easily.

Going form 17th in league 1, getting promotion automatic and then with selling one of youre best players and hardly spending any money being top of the league with a newly promoted club, I would say hes delivered so far.

Agree completely. Bog-standard going-thru the motions b*ll*cks from NA.

We've now lost Goolie, we've now lost Rickie, to add to all the other injuries, and he's still talking about a fortnight (better than the month after the BC game, I'll grant you)

When is our next league game? He's aiming to have new additions for Forest.

the fa cup game is a non-game really, not bothered about that either way.

I have total faith in him. But it's no good coming on and highlighting all of these so called 'positives' if we continue with our current form. Points = positives, simple. Played well first half, goal disallowed, dubious sending off, players responded and we came away with a point. Positive. 3 nil defeat, negative, irrespective.

We are still top - but we wont get a better chance than this - time to get back to winning ways - and quickly.

It's good to put a positive spin on things, but in the cold light of day, this was a ****fest. Lambert was totally stupid, throw your arm out and those things will happen, whether you contact or not. If Adkins goes to all the trouble of changing Harding, then he can surely see the folly in not only being let down for this game, but the next league game as well. Just dumb and something we expect of other teams. Brighton were there for the taking, I don't believe they could have faced us in any worse condition than today, all thrown out of the window. We continued with 10 men and a wafer thin midfield, tactically giving Brighton an easy win. Nope, you never did this one justice Nigel. We shall just have to wait and see how expensive this turns into, but we looked like getting 3 points until Lambert threw his arm out.

Anyone who says Adkins has to prove anything to us should be taken out and shot.

After doing so much for us in the first 18 months of his tenure, if you don't support him now you are either:

1. A goldfish.

2. An idiot.

Take your pick.

Recent form has not been great but nothing that is worth having was not hard work achieving. We know we need strengthening. We had some good luck early in the season, and we've had our share of poor luck of late.

But in the words of the manager, we stick together, we go again.

Heres a positive spin, 17th- automatic last year-sold one of our best players and didnt spend hardly anything and we are top! Adkins has been a legend so far.

I struggle to believe that people claiming to be "supporters" are so quick to criticise. At the start of the season most fans would have happily taken being mid table or above at new year and yet are moaning because now we are only top on goal difference! Every team has a blip at some point and I don't understand why, simply because we are Southampton, it shouldn't happen to us. Adkins and this squad got promotion last year when many folks were predicticting failure in the play offs. Adkins has come out today and said he wants to and thinks we can WIN the league. FFS why don't people stop moaning, trust in the manager and squad that have provided us with so many smiles and good times over the past 18 months.

I never said he'd lost the dressing room - I said it would become a question if this bad run (after a brilliant run with nearly the same players) continues. geoffnut didn't say Adkins had to prove himself - he said "judge him at the end of the season".

If there's a cock in this equation it's you because your only response to a different opinion is a childish insult, and because you have to lie about what people posted in order to justify yourself.

In my view because they lack perspective and an understanding of how football works. Few teams (if any) simply go to the top of the league and win every game without some form of setback during the season.

Football is like life. It's not the getting knocked down that counts, it's how you pick yourself up and respond.

Tactics which led us to the top are now being called into question - fans know better than our most successful ever manager apparently...

This is where we prove what good fans we are. Now, more than ever, is the time that the team needs the fans to get behind them. If 'we' start showing doubt during games it will filter down to the players.

Yes, have doubts in your thoughts but inspire confidence in your words and gestures!

We are Southampton, we're top of the league!

Agreed.

We were miles better than them in the first half, played some good football, created chances, appear to have scored a goal. Unfortunately Rickie was stupid and Kelvin spilled the ball. Individual errors are letting us down at the moment. However, these things happen in a long season. I'm more disappointed that Rickie let himself down today by reacting to the last in a line of niggly, horrible fouls by a niggly, horrible team. 11 v 11 and they were no match for us.

Special mention for the officials. They were sh it. Quite how D'Urso missed the push on Rickie at the start of the second half in the area is, frankly beyond me. The linesman in front of the the main stand was a joke all afternoon. He had no bottle and gave everything to BHA. The crowd, and weak officials meant we had to sub Harding.

It's because we as fans are a reflection of society. You get idiots in society, and idiots in our fan base who post on internet forums. I sometimes wonder if some people have forgotten what we've achieved in the last 15 months, and the drivel that we were watching the last time we were in the Championship. Some fans on here sound like spoiled children. We were far superior to Brighton today 11 v 11. Individual errors are costing us at the moment. THere's not much Adkins can do during a game if Rickie loses his head or Kelvin spills a shot.

Are you for real!? So your with Geoff in that Nigel Adkins has done nothing to prove himself this far and thus is where he shows what he is made of!? You moron! He hasn't had to show what he is like in times like this because he has been so on top that he hasn't had to! Yes, we're in a sticky patch, yes we need to sort it, but to say that Adkins needs to prove himself... I'm beyond words.

Just listened to his comments on R5. NA rarely comments on a referee's performance & he mentions decisions without mentioning him personally. He seems really narked by Hardings booking & the lack of a penalty over anything else.

He also mentions, once again, about their tactics of winding people up & he we should have been aware of it.

He gives me confidence when he speaks. Never to high after a win & never too down after a loss.......................

I don't understand why people have to misrepresent what others have said in order to make their own point - especially when they're actually saying something quite similar.

There really are some ******s on this forum. I'm still grateful I have my club to support, with a bright future and the right men to take it forward. No one expected us to do so well and on paper our squad is over achieving, don't have a hissy fit because we are having a sticky patch. Of course it's disappointing but we are still in control, so stop with the cyber depression before I climb down from my morale high ground and open a can of 'banter and seaman all over your ip addresses!!

We've got alot to be positive about you queens.
