sotonian Posted 2 January, 2012 Posted 2 January, 2012 i think how we come through these could decide our season, if we can get 10 plus points+ out of these, we have a good chance of auto promotion as the run of games after look a lot easier Monday, 2 January 2012 Brighton v Southampton, 15:00 Saturday, 14 January 2012 Nott'm Forest v Southampton, 15:00 Monday, 23 January 2012 Southampton v Leicester, 19:45 Tuesday, 31 January 2012 Southampton v Cardiff, 19:45 Saturday, 4 February 2012 Birmingham v Southampton, 15:00 Saturday, 11 February 2012 Southampton v Burnley, 15:00 Tuesday, 14 February 2012 West Ham v Southampton, 19:45
Hopkins Posted 2 January, 2012 Posted 2 January, 2012 We are better against better teams. Teams that open up. All those teams will fancy themselves against us. Forest possibly not but they'll have to start scoring soon and will hopefully make for an open game. I think we will come through the period well.
Saint Garrett Posted 2 January, 2012 Posted 2 January, 2012 Didn't that Birmingham game get moved for TV? Or am I thinking of a different game? Need to get some points on the board in the home games as we're poor away from home! Can't let our home form slip!
Saintandy666 Posted 2 January, 2012 Posted 2 January, 2012 Played all those teams before, nothing to fear. We can beat all of them on our day.

Saint Craig Posted 2 January, 2012 Posted 2 January, 2012 Being in the position we are we shouldn't be fearing any teams in this league. It is them that should be fearing us. Of course, as fans we're always looking a few more steps ahead but it's quite clear that Adkins has the players only looking at one game at a time and rightly so. There's 23 other teams in the same boat as us and the league shows we're the best of them, so less worrying.
saints_is_the_south Posted 2 January, 2012 Posted 2 January, 2012 Got to be aiming to win the next 4 fixtures imo. Brighton & Forest away both very winnable, and the 2 home games. Leicester looked dreadful against the Skates on Saturday, Cardiff will be a toughie. If we can take maximum points from the next 4 then we stand ourselves in good stead for 2 very tough away games at Brum & West Ham. Should beat Burnley at home but they are no mugs themselves having already won at Upton Park & the KC Stadium this season. Minimum requirement: 14/21 Would be very happy with: 17/21
Vershinin Posted 2 January, 2012 Posted 2 January, 2012 The next two away games are very winnable. We need to make them count.
Cricketphilly Posted 2 January, 2012 Posted 2 January, 2012 Go with Alladyce's theorum, two points average per game will do it.
Professor Posted 2 January, 2012 Posted 2 January, 2012 Agree that 2 points average will be enough. Average from the last 7 games of 2011 was 1.14 so 'must do better' but if Connolly is back or there are new signings, past performance will be less relevant.
SNSUN Posted 2 January, 2012 Posted 2 January, 2012 I've gone for a realistic 11 points out of that lot but with signings or hitting form it could be more. Any less would be disastrous. We have to make these six pointers count.

We have to make these six pointers count. The reason signings, if possible, should be made in the next 2 weeks so that they are available for the Forest game and the two probably crucial home games at the end of January.
