SaintNeil90 Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Well thats what I was originally saying...but if he's not going to be ready to play for 2 months...why not get someone who won't need to adjust...just to reiterate..I'm quite excited by this signing. Maybe we will sign other players too?

Gingeletiss Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 One would assume, given that he has already been over here, to discuss a transfer, that the subject of a work permit, would of been investigated by the club, prior to him coming back and signing. Just a thought!

Just a thought! He also has had time to brush up on his English or at least start lessons if this has been in the pipeline for a while.
St.Patrik Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 One think - I work a lot with my works subsidaries in Asia and most of our people are really poor at speaking English since most of them don´t learn that in school. So how good is NA speaking Japanese then...
david in sweden Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 One think - I work a lot with my works subsidaries in Asia and most of our people are really poor at speaking English since most of them don´t learn that in school. So how good is NA speaking Japanese then... Hi Patrik, ...A thought.... by the way Know the problem. I've been teaching (all nationalities) in international companies for years. It's always a problem with people who don't have ENGLISH language skills, but it amazes me why these companies don't hire in a native speaker to help newcomers (especially if you've laid out a millionor two in transfer) in the early stages. Mind you - we don't know what T.Lee's skills are already? Most jobs have a very limited range of technical terms (fackspråk) often less than 300 words - surely it can't be so many in football. As I recall there was a rumour that some players in the Saints side didnt understand Gordon Strachan when he took over at SMS...and some of them were British !
shurlock Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 If it's him I saw a few months ago, then his second time in England, one would suspect. First time. From the horses mouth.

So how good is NA speaking Japanese then... Or how quickly can the Japanese lad learn the thirty or so cliches that make up the bulk of his vocabulary? /ducks
Tokyo-Saint Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 If he has been following the regular school program, he will have been studying English since he was 5 years old. Allowing for footballers being of below average intelligence, he will be able to speak at least basic English. He will however have trouble with idioms, slang and the usual football clichés. I am sure the club will hire someone on an average salary to help him settle in. I am sure he will speak like a country bumkin in a few months. Look at Guly, he already speaks like he grew up in Hythe

opthomps Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 If the Japanese education system is like the Korean one then in my experience i wouldn't expect him to speak a word of English. Anyone good at sport gets a pass to skip languages. I'm sure he will be honest and hard working though, so if managed correctly doubt languages will be that much of a problem to performance.
crouchi Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 One would assume, given that he has already been over here, to discuss a transfer, that the subject of a work permit, would of been investigated by the club, prior to him coming back and signing. Just a thought! Sadly we have been through this all before with Marians Pahars who eventually did get in after appeal and numerous others that didn't. they agree personal terms, fees between the clubs and then they try to get the permit. He hasn't played enough internationals over the last 2 years to play in the UK unless he gets some kind of special dispensation, usually only reserved for Man U, Arsenal or other gig clubs, not the likes of us.
Super_Saint Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Bah nevermind, just saw the previous posts about the flight to London
Turkish Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 I have been advised by very good authority, who i am not going to name, that he was picked up from Heathrow tonight and is staying at the De Vere with his agent. The deal has been agreed and all that is left is to confirm personal terms. An announcement could be as early as tomorrow provided all goes smoothly.
Badger Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 In the country now apparently. Good, but not yet on the bus or in the building ?
shurlock Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 I imagine it would have been his agent if anyone. Nope from the lad himself over a coffee.

Crazy Diamond Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 That makes more sense than most British newspapers and pretty much every kid under 16 nowadays. Ha ha. Too true.
Scudamore Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 So if I've got this quite straight...he's definitely signing...and shurlock has had a cup of coffee with a horse... Interesting...
Saint Fan CaM Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 I reckon this could be very good business indeed for us if he is utilised well. If possible, Nigel should get him playing on Saturday - nothing to lose.
shurlock Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 So if I've got this quite straight...he's definitely signing...and shurlock has had a cup of coffee with a horse... Interesting... But an extremely knowledgeable one with a keen interest in our league position
Crazy Diamond Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 I reckon this could be very good business indeed for us if he is utilised well. If possible, Nigel should get him playing on Saturday - nothing to lose. Well, according to that article and my new friend in France, he won't be signing until next Friday, not this Saturday.
shurlock Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 I reckon this could be very good business indeed for us if he is utilised well. If possible, Nigel should get him playing on Saturday - nothing to lose. The horse told me he was saddling up for the Leicester game.
Scudamore Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 But an extremely knowledgeable one with a keen interest in our league position Mick Channon's horse whispering leaves us in a great position to really exploit the lucrative horse market...
Saint Fan CaM Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 The horse told me he was saddling up for the Leicester game. Shame. Was the horse your neigh-bour? (; (Gets coat...>)
Crazy Diamond Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Shame. Was the horse your neigh-bour? (; (Gets coat...>) He's a skilful player, he won't be HOOFing it.
dubai_phil Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Oh this is legendary Director Adokinsu There's only one Adonisku, ONE Adonisku Mind you with the trouble some on her have with spelling AtAdkins.....
Badger Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Shame. Was the horse your neigh-bour? (; (Gets coat...>) Unlike signing Rodriguez at £5m, at least this bloke won't leave us saddled with a huge debt
latter day saint Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 The horse told me he was saddling up for the Leicester game. i hope so as we don't want this dragging on furlong
Badger Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 i hope so as we don't want this dragging on furlong with Saints though, I've a nagging suspicion it might.
Badger Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Tadanari could be a good signing and become our mane attraction.
St Chalet Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 (edited) Some posters are very blinkered on this issue. Edited 3 January, 2012 by St Chalet Neigh used
shirleysfc Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Lets hope he gallops in. ... and doesn't have a mare ...
shirleysfc Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Is he going to filly the role of support striker to Lambert?
Badger Posted 3 January, 2012 Posted 3 January, 2012 Hope his skills do for Japanese football, what Eric Canterna did for the French (see Neal Trottman loaned out in L1 again if anyones interested)
