shurlock Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Haven't seen anywhere official say he has signed I just have a hunch the work permit will be a killer in the deal No chance - told me it was a formality
thorpie the sinner Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 No chance - told me it was a formality So how did you just happen to be having coffee with him again??
shurlock Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 So how did you just happen to be having coffee with him again?? Tuesday Terminal 3 Heathrow.
thorpie the sinner Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Tuesday Terminal 3 Heathrow. chance meeting? you recognised him? you are his agent lol?
scott_saints Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Someone is probably joining our club to play football. 18 pages of discussing it so far? Weirdos.
S-Clarke Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Haven't seen anywhere official say he has signed I just have a hunch the work permit will be a killer in the deal tbf they wouldn't have gone all the way down the line without investigating the work permit, and if there would be any real issues.
Colinjb Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Someone is probably joining our club to play football. 18 pages of discussing it so far? Weirdos. Yeah, so odd that a football forum wish to discuss our transfer movements and future transfer potentials.
SB Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 You're not cool enough to be a troll, good attempt though.
qwertySFC Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Given that we have reached agreement with the player and his club there is no reason for not announcing the move - it may also put a little pressure on whoever has to approve the work permit. It, of course and as you rightly say, has absolutely nothing to do with the Brighton result, and any suggestion it does is just Alpine's megalomania getting the better of him. Has he been viewed as a panic signing? Who hasn't given him a fair crack of the whip? I don't think a single person on this thread has suggested that he isn't a player worth signing. It is within an interview in the Korean press that SFC representatives were at the Asia cup final - so I agree it is not a quick fix I get the impression that Lee is a player we have been monitoring for some time - maybe one of the players NA has been indicating about for some time _ the homework on Lee has been done
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 5 January, 2012 Author Posted 5 January, 2012 The work permitt is just a formality He has signed, is in training and is fit to play! Just waiting on the nod which will come sooner than you think.
beatlesaint Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 The other thing for me is Fraser. Probably the most improved player this season and have loved his pin point crosses but... and a small but, technically he is lacking. So with that in mind could we be after another young cultured right back long term? a la Clyne perhaps to provide competition for the slot? Technically lacking ? I tell you what, he could teach Fox a thing or two about defending.
thorpie the sinner Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 The work permitt is just a formality He has signed, is in training and is fit to play! Just waiting on the nod which will come sooner than you think. rumours that work permit might be forthcoming Tomorrow, any truth?
Dr Who? Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Come on sign him up, get the work permit, and get him in the starting line up for the FA Cup game!
Avenue Saint Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Technically lacking ? I tell you what, he could teach Fox a thing or two about defending. No, agreed. Defending he is very able at. But going forward, barring crosses, he's not the sort to go beat a couple of men, cut in and bury it in the corner. Bit rigid. Don't get me wrong however, this position being considered at a stretch. Kudos to Fraser this season!
View From The Top Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 He'll shoot he'll score he'll eat yer Labrador Tadanari Lee, Tadanar Lee.
Scudamore Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 No, agreed. Defending he is very able at. But going forward, barring crosses, he's not the sort to go beat a couple of men, cut in and bury it in the corner. Bit rigid. Don't get me wrong however, this position being considered at a stretch. Kudos to Fraser this season! Gary Neville was a bit rigid then...
Avenue Saint Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Gary Neville was a bit rigid then... Can't disagree with that.
JackFrost Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 If all else fails with the Tadanari Lee chant, why don't we just go for "Oh Leeeeee oh lee oh lee oh leeeeee. Oh leeeee oh leeeeee etc.
Suhari Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 He'll shoot he'll score he'll eat yer Labrador Tadanari Lee, Tadanar Lee. That I like.
Thedelldays Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 football agent in twitter reckons he will get his work permit by tomorrow
hypochondriac Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 football agent in twitter reckons he will get his work permit by tomorrow Could have looked on here and posted that.
Crazy Diamond Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 football agent in twitter reckons he will get his work permit by tomorrow More than one source saying that, sounds promising.
sfc4prem Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 He'll shoot he'll score he'll eat yer Labrador Tadanari Lee, Tadanar Lee. Doesn't fit
Whitey Grandad Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Come on sign him up, get the work permit, and get him in the starting line up for the FA Cup game! He needs to be registered with the FA by midday tomorrow if he's going to play on Saturday.
hypochondriac Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Is there any way we'll get a not at all racist chant for him? I wouldnt call it racist, more stereotyping like saying Mexicans are lazy or Americans are fat and Chinese people are good at maths.
Colinjb Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 He needs to be registered with the FA by midday tomorrow if he's going to play on Saturday. If as reported earlier he's going home straight after his work permit is cleared, then we should probably just wait for the Forest game.
JRM Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Is there any way we'll get a not at all racist chant for him? Do Korean / Japanese people eat dogs? yes or no. if it is a fact then why is it racist to sing a song about it. Lee Lee wherever you may be you eat dogs in your own country but it could be worse, you could be a skate eating rats on a council estate
Saint_clark Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Do Korean / Japanese people eat dogs? yes or no. if it is a fact then why is it racist to sing a song about it.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Do Korean / Japanese people eat dogs? yes or no. if it is a fact then why is it racist to sing a song about it. Can you seriously not see what is wrong with making sweeping generalisations?
JRM Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Can you seriously not see what is wrong with making sweeping generalisations? it is not a sweeping generalisation in a negative sense, aka Dianne Abbot, it is a football song expressing our joy at the diversity of our football squad, if i went to Japan and they called me a pie eater i would embrace that
shurlock Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Do Korean / Japanese people eat dogs? yes or no. if it is a fact then why is it racist to sing a song about it. Lee Lee wherever you may be you eat dogs in your own country but it could be worse, you could be a skate eating rats on a council estate The Japanese don't eat dogs - they're as surprised and shocked as the rest of us that some Koreans do. At least, get your stereotypes right
Sour Mash Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 The Japanese don't eat dogs - they're as surprised and shocked as the rest of us that some Koreans do. At least, get your stereotypes right He's at least half Korean isn't he? Therefore probably eats dogs.
Whitey Grandad Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Can you seriously not see what is wrong with making sweeping generalisations? On the whole, sweeping generalisations are always wrong.
JRM Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 The Japanese don't eat dogs - they're as surprised and shocked as the rest of us that some Koreans do. At least, get your stereotypes right wrong again Mr Shurlock get mr watson on the case, he is of Korean descent and even played for their U20s http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tadanari_Lee facepalm
JRM Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 He's at least half Korean isn't he? Therefore probably eats dogs. it is no coincidence that Sammy the saint no longer features at St Marys
Sour Mash Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 it is no coincidence that Sammy the saint no longer features at St Marys Good shout. No-one can tell me that is a coincidence.
shurlock Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 wrong again Mr Shurlock get mr watson on the case, he is of Korean descent and even played for their U20s http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tadanari_Lee facepalm I know his background - spoke to the lad myself Came across as very Japanese to me (reportedly his Korean is so-so). Just makes the song forced and is more needless manc worshipping.
Mouldy Coat Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 Now now here come the pc brigade. In my opinion I think most imported players would see the funny side of a song like this. I certainly would if I played in a foreign country. It is sung for positive light hearted humour embracing our player, no intention to cause offence. We could have a poll about the labrador song?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 It just doesn't work, he is Japanese not Korean. I think his grandparents are korean but that's it. Even if he was Korean, have they actually eaten dog for years? Anyway as he is Japanese it does not matter. It would be like singing a song about Le tiss eating snails and frogs legs.
Black Sea Saint Posted 5 January, 2012 Posted 5 January, 2012 I live in Korea and can confirm that they do eat dog, however I don't see how it has any bearing on this debate as Tadanari Lee is Japanese. Anyway, isn't it about time we dropped the xenophobic stereotypes?
trousers Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 What's wrong about eating dogs anyway? No different to rabbits and guinea pigs IMHO. P.s. Sammy the Saint was parading around the perimeter at the Bristol City game
Colinjb Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 What's wrong about eating digs anyway? No different to rabbits and guinea pigs IMHO. P.s. Sammy the Saint was parading around the perimeter at the Bristol City game Yes, best enjoy the mascots while we still can.
PhilippineSaint Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 Does anybody know a person that has actually eaten a Guinea pig????? Dogs cats horses not fair game Rabbits good game meat. cant go for Venison as its dear
trousers Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 Does anybody know a person that has actually eaten a Guinea pig????? Yes. I worked with a Peruvian lady in 2007. Guinea pig is a national dish :-) http://www.shelfordfeast.co.uk/guineapig.html
hypochondriac Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 I live in Korea and can confirm that they do eat dog, however I don't see how it has any bearing on this debate as Tadanari Lee is Japanese. Anyway, isn't it about time we dropped the xenophobic stereotypes? The best comedy stems from xenophobic stereotyping. I'm thinking knowing me knowing you.
Window Cleaner Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 More than one source saying that, sounds promising. Not Nigel though "The opportunity has come for him to come in and train with us with a view to try and sign him. The work permit situation is going to take a period of time because we have to work through that."
Orange Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 He'll shoot he'll score he'll eat yer Labrador Tadanari Lee, Tadanar Lee. Love that!
trousers Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 Not Nigel though "The opportunity has come for him to come in and train with us with a view to try and sign him. The work permit situation is going to take a period of time because we have to work through that." And when have you ever known our Nige to give a 100% candid view of who we're signing and when? If Nige is giving off signals that it's not imminent then that's normally a cue for us to expect an announcement in the next few hours ;-)
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 6 January, 2012 Posted 6 January, 2012 I live in Korea and can confirm that they do eat dog, however I don't see how it has any bearing on this debate as Tadanari Lee is Japanese. Anyway, isn't it about time we dropped the xenophobic stereotypes? tbf Lee is an ethnic Korean - not that I'd join in with a song about eating dogs.
