The final with Australia didn't end within 90 minutes and was extended into 15-15 periods. At 4 minutes in the second extra, FW Lee (Sub) made the beautiful left foot volley from DF Nagatomo's long and accurate cross from the left side and this was the GOAL to the 4th championship! The MVP of 2011 Asian Cup tournament went to Honda Keisuke. Today's MVP could be our goalkeeper Kawashima, who blocked numerous shoots from the tall and physically strong Aussies.

Right footed volley and cross from the right side surely?!

Great to be bringing a good player in to the building - but it is more on the right that we need reinforcements rather left as suggested above.

(although having seen the goal v Australia that did appear a cross from the right).

I would imagine he can play either side, as with most wide players. We needed to strengthen the flanks and up top, looks like we've killed two birds with one stone on this.

Let's hope he settles quickly. There have been some real jems come into english football from the Asian leagues, the lad at Bolton springs to mind recently. Quite excited if this all gets confirmed.

yep at him. The guy at Wolves years ago too wasn't too bad.....it's not a bad standard in asia at all, and if this kid is performing in Asian cup finals then we could have a bit of a gem.

indeed...that part of the world is what scandinavia was like 15 years ago for us..........could..COULD pick up a good player for next to nothing...

just hope he does not take too long to get used to the team etc

I think i will make a judgment on how good he is until i see him in the flesh......cue all the 'best of' youtube clips......we know how well that often pans out, don't we.

Here's hoping he will live up to the billing he appears to have by many on here already.

I don't think he's been built up massively at all, it's just the sort of player we could do with to freshen things up. It's been a long time since we've signed any current internationals...

Yes there is also that factor. Having not played in English football it may take a while to adjust when we don't really have time.

Dont be silly. Saying he looks good before seeing him is just as sensible as saying he looks bad. Nothing wrong at all with making judgements before you have seen a player.

Work permit rules says picked in 75% of the games he was available for over last 2 years. He has 10 caps in 2011, so he looks a bit short of qualification to me.

I'm sure any work permit stuff was sorted out and investigated long before we even offered him a deal.

Japanese friend tells me he cost 500K

As he's only joining on a one-year contract to begin with, supposedly special conditions apply for visas

He will be having an interview with the home office at the start of January and hopefully joining soon after

Supposedly 1899 Hoffenheim of Budesliga 1 were looking at him.
