No we don't.... we need good players where ever they come from washed up old PL has beens and champoinship journey men are not what we need. Jos has no PL/champ experince, neither does Lambert(up until now) both look pretty good to me. It's about getting players N/A and the coaches can work with and fit in to the team......not about names that will appease the fans becuase they look good on FIFA 12.... Verbal Kint Posted 31 December, 2011 Share Posted 31 December, 2011 Great, so in other words we are going to ponce around in this window too. Last thing we need. Why are you so negative about this team? Genuine question. I've enjoyed the first half of this season more than any ever i can remember. We play some fantastic football, we get to watch some very talented footballers and we're winning far more than we're losing. I think if you were able to go to games you might have a differing view on the club... We're a newly promoted team and only brought in a couple of additions over the summer and the players have stepped up to the mark and delivered for us. I don't know if we'll go up, and i don't know if we'll sign anyone in January, but i find it quite sad that a squad of players that have given absolutely everything they've got over the last 12 months or so still get criticised on here when we lose a game. You know Cortese and Adkins are ambitious and will be doing everything to bring players in on the right terms. Have a little faith and stop acting like a spoilt little brat. Congratulations to the players and manager for a fantastic 2011 and particularly for the the last 6 months. As long as they give everything they have you can't ask for more, and that's exactly what they've given. If that isn't enough for some fan then you really are supporting the wrong team. I sometimes wonder what happened to our fans, when did they suddenly think we had become Man United?

As um pahars says, hes probably got his stats wrong, I just cant be bothered chasing up the evidence like he rushed to do when he saw I wrote "relegation form". dronskisaint Posted 31 December, 2011 Share Posted 31 December, 2011 The tw* with 17299 posts has more to do than involve himself with internet one upmanship with an internet happy clappy. Aside from your terminal negativity the fact is that over the past two seasons your interpretations and predictions have been utterly discredited - this is largely why you irritate nearly everyone on this board. Insulting you is just a venting mechanism...nobody gives what you say any credibility.

Dalek2003 Posted 31 December, 2011 Share Posted 31 December, 2011 On a positive note, and I mean this, if we miss out on promotion due to a lack of squad depth, at least the time we were top of the league will give us something to work on over the close season. By then we may have made some good buys and will have learnt to buy decisively in the summer so that we are ready for the whole season. This season is all about learning and as I have pointed out countless times the lessons are often best learnt the hard way. So, half way through the season, despite my predictions of a mid table finish appearing gloomy, there are some very positive aspects to the first part of the season which we should hold on to if the wheels continue to come off due to lack of summer preparation. mikee Posted 1 January, 2012 Share Posted 1 January, 2012 Right, so trying to do everything we can to sustain it is unimportant, because we've exceeded expectations, right ? To even insinuate that we are not trying to do everything to win the league this year is frankly ludicrous - what do you think has got us into this position in the first place - it can't be luck after 24 games. we may have exceeded expectations but we have also raised them. The only people that don't seem comfortable with that are those fans that seem to prefer it when we fail as it gives them the opportunity to vent their frustration / anger / negativity. As others have already said on numerous threads 2011 has been one of the best years for Saints - ever! If you can't enjoy that then you really should consider whether following Saints is worth it! I wish the Palace and Bristol games were in the other order as we would all be feeling a lot more positive if we had just put in the performance we did on boxing day. happy new Year to all saints fans and I have a feeling that 2012 is also set to be a memorable year as there is no logical reason why we can't repeat our current points tally over the next 23 games - we can even allow for another bad month like December. Can't be right, we all know that the group (including Nigel I guess) "doesn't get too high when we win nor too low when we lose". although the amount of injuries we've got racking up would worry most managers (and fans for that matter). Professor Posted 1 January, 2012 Share Posted 1 January, 2012 how quickly you forget, we were there when it counted last May. How? Because we kept bloody winning. Funnily enough we are top of the table 6 months later because we keep bloody winning. Not quite that simple because we aren't still 'bloody winnning'. We are top because in the first 17 games the form was W12, D3, L2. 39 points from a possible 54 (2.29 points per game). In the next 7 games the form has been W2, D2, L3. 8 points from a possible 21 (1.14 points per game). To be 2nd at the end of the season needed 84 points last season and 91 points in 2009/10. As at 01/01/2012 Saints have 47 points from 24 games (1.95 points per game). To finish on 84 points requires 37 points from the remaining 22 games (1.68 points per game). If we continue the season average, we will finish on 90 points which should be enough for 1st or 2nd but to do that requires a return to the early season form. If we continue on the current (last 7 games) form we will finish on 72 points which would be round about 10th place. The manager's team selection has obviously been limited until now (01/01/2012) and fans who want to see that choice improved, and quickly, have been subject to abuse by some very narrow-minded individuals. The club has a fantastic opportunity from the present league position to get promoted, but it can still throw it away if present performance is not turned round. Other clubs are already strengthening, Blackpool for example, and so are we if the T Lee signing takes place. If a few people on here are so complacent that they think nothing needs to be done, and go so far as to abuse anyone who wants to see the management taking positive action, thats up to them, but such attitudes are very blinkered and unlikely to be in line with what the club actually does. It is inconceivable that NA and NC are not fully aware of the opportunity the club now has and the risks if the squad is not strengthened significantly. Thats why its not just Alpine Saint who has been calling for signings, but Nigel Adkins as well.
