If we had hung on to this Hassli guy, we would be playing champions league by now. Lowe out!

I have spent a few minutes silently weeping over this issue every day since 2002 and it has really affected my support of this otherwise fine club.

Incidents involving p/ssed up players highlights it wouldn't you agree?

Dont believe everything you read. The only two of the incidents I imagine you're referring to that I have direct (ie immediate family, rather than a friend of a mate in the pub who heard blablablaa) accounts of both gave an entirely different view of the incidents as published in our irreproachable press.

Yep, its really f**king offensive. I know of at least one person during my time at Uni who killed himself during finals in this manner, and its continual refrain on here is disgraceful. I have never thought of topping myself due to a Saints result.

I find the term "happy clapper"extremely offensive. I had a friend who clapped himself to death in 2005.

Quick question alpine, obviously in your opinion you try and give a balanced and objective opinion on saints at the moment. One which you may agree, in the spectrum of objectivity is in the fair middle. Not pessimistic or "happy clappy", just rightly in the middle...

What I'd really like to know mate is what, in YOUR opinion would you give as an example of someone being unreasonably negative and pessimistic of saints current position? One which you would argue is totally unreasonable as is at the other end of the scale the happy clappy one?

Genuine question, really curious to know your answer?

Dalek saying we will finish 17th, and continuing it even now is somewhat absurdly negative. There is still no evidence to support that.

I still reckon we can we win the league and get promoted if the management act NOW, not the end of January. However, our current form is total pish (we have far too many "off nights" to be acceptable) and if we leave the absolutley vital transfer activity to the end of January (and maybe fail to close it), the boat is going to leave and we are going to end up mid-table because our results over January and February are going to be poor. Dont forget that there is a group of posters on here who maintain that squad strengthening is not necessary, and another group who thinks we should just be grateful with what we have achieved so far this season because it was unexpected and dont seem too bothered if we sustain it or not. I find that to be bizarre.

I think this viewpoint is reasoned and not overly-negative, and fail to understand why it attracts so much abuse.

Well, when you put it like that, it seems a fair argument. I personally, like you think we need a couple of players in the window but until and UNLESS we come to find a situation where this fails to materialise, I won't be getting hung, knew jerk animated.

This is a forum and to expect everyone to be on the same page is ridiculous, but what we can all strive to do Alpine, is temper our posts, being less tragic and most importantly not losing sight of our current position, top!

Happy new year.

Fair comment, its just frustrating to see opportunity being wasted. We could have had a commanding lead by now.

And for every counselling against sounding tragic, an equal argument could be made against aggression and intolerance of other opinion.

All the best for 2012.

Way too much common sense for this forum!

Problem withthe likes of Alps, Dalek and 'Crestfallan' is they dont seem to appreciate that what we have achived since January 2011 - a calander year in hich we have played 50 League games - won 34, drawn 8 and lost just 8 - a total of 110 points in 50 games.... whatever the poor form of December, any team that has those stats deserves huge credit. Especially, as those with a brain know that the side has OER achieved since getting promoted with NA as you say squeezing teh last drop oout of the side that is on paper between 3-8th IMHO.

If NA gets teh opportunity to freshen the side with added quality, there is still the chance we can be top 2 but it will take a gargantuan effort - and for a side hjust promoted even top 6 would be a monumental achievement.

What really ****s me off though is the agressive bull that these posters display, as though we should be 'walking the league' etc and that someone must be at fault for, or we are somehow failing - there is so much venom its unreal. Sure be disspointed, but no matter what Decmeber has been like, it has obviously been crap for the the likes of West Ham and Boro too as we are still top. Yes we need to pick things up now, but FFS give the side a break - look at those stats and tell me you are not [proud of your team - if you cant be, then feck off and support someone else as we dont need such bull sh!tters...

I think that some posters still have not got to grips with what a tough league this is. It is interesting that, even though we have been stumbling, we have not yet been overtaken. Why? Because all our rivals keep stumbling too. And the reason for that is that it is a flaming tough league - as I said. Bristol City may be near the bottom of the league but they were still a hard team to play against and as chances kept evading us the possibility of them sneaking a somewhat flukey win was always going to increase. There are still few players in other teams that I would trade ours for - position for position.
