Supersubpuckett Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 oh dear, this is going to be a tough 2nd half to the season
Leicestersaint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 very disappointing - we have been off form for a month or so and are really missing Chaplow and all that he brings.
alpine_saint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Absolutely dire. The team was not up for the game at all. Cant win promotion with games like this in the season record. Hope we dont all look back on this game as the one where promotion went away. Absolutely essential to bounce back on Monday with a win, and to back this up with some pretty prompt transfer activity.
Monk Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Not good enough tonight but hey, the lads have been fantastic over the last year so won't cry over it, unlike a few of you queens.
David Strover Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 **** poor result - still no matter it will make some people very happy - Dalek, Alpine, so every cloud has a silver lining....and we'll still be top after Saturday too. Mind you a few more of these games and we won't....
Dr Who? Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Bloody Friday night football!!! I believe the last time we lost to Brighton at home on a Friday?!
K,Billy's supersound Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 oh well cant win all the time. inc ott reactions whines and moans. can the server handle it i wonder?
alpine_saint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 **** poor result - still no matter it will make some people very happy - Dalek, Alpine, so every cloud has a silver lining....and we'll still be top after Saturday too. Mind you a few more of these games and we won't.... What a ridiculous and childish thing to say - why on earth would be happy?? F**king grow up.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 For all the worriers..three words. Poortvliet and Wotte. Some have very short memories.... We'll be fine.
Dalek2003 Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 oh dear, this is going to be a tough 2nd half to the season As I predicted, with a small squad. Mind you our fantastic autumn run should see us comfortably finish in a mid or lower mid table position which is still a reasonable finish for a newly promoted team.
alpine_saint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 How do you know. You weren't even there. Well, that one took a long time to raise its head. The sad, bankrupt side-swipe of someone with no argument to make.
alpine_saint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 oh dear, this is going to be a tough 2nd half to the season Especially the next 2 months. We could end up around mid-table, I reckon.
Micky Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Said after the loss at Bristol that many seem to be quite blase about it - and that seems to still be the case. We have missed some fantastic opportunities to really put a marker down in this league, but failed on each occasion. Totally hacked off, can only see this giving other teams a boost, really expect to be overhauled quite quickly. Will be interesting to see if we can play catch up, or get through the play offs.
SuperMikey Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Shame that we couldn't build up a bit of momentum after an excellent performance against Palace, but we struggle against Brizzle for some reason. Lets put tonight behind us now and look forward to the Brighton game.
Dalek2003 Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 **** poor result - still no matter it will make some people very happy - Dalek, Alpine, so every cloud has a silver lining....and we'll still be top after Saturday too. Mind you a few more of these games and we won't.... You couldn't be more wrong. I wish I was wrong but my prediction of 17th will probably be much closer to the truth than those who predicted top 2 and even top 6.
geoffnut Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Always going to lose at home sometime but to a team 3rd from bottom! Wonder what will happen when we play the good teams. Anyway what a great 2011 our team have given us, a win at Brighton will be a nice start to 2012.
adrian lord Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 I maintain my preseason prediction of Champions, despite this setback.
baxter Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Best to get rid of that bogey result before end of 2011
Secret Site Agent Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 There goes 'Fortress St Marys'. I think there is more evidence for a Striker in the January Sales.
Thedelldays Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Everyone out NOW!!!!! Am disgusted Adkins should resign
dan17 Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 To sum up my thoughts from match thread............. Fecking annoyed, but we have enjoyed a fantastic year!!! Had to lose sometime I guess....Onwards and upwards..Need investment if we are really serious about promotion.
alpine_saint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Everyone out NOW!!!!! Am disgusted Adkins should resign Shut. Up.
DT Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Shame that we couldn't build up a bit of momentum after an excellent performance against Palace, but we struggle against Brizzle for some reason. Lets put tonight behind us now and look forward to the Brighton game. We were very average against Palace.
Dalek2003 Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Absolutely dire. The team was not up for the game at all. Cant win promotion with games like this in the season record. Hope we dont all look back on this game as the one where promotion went away. Absolutely essential to bounce back on Monday with a win, and to back this up with some pretty prompt transfer activity. You are right Alpine but I am not confident that we will act promptly in the transfer market. Either we cannot afford the quality, their is not the will to invest in quality or we trying to do it more cheaply by building slowly over a longer period of time.
Dalek2003 Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Especially the next 2 months. We could end up around mid-table, I reckon. Yes we will as I predicted.
Appy Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 What an awful game to watch, in an awful mood at work now. Lallana was woeful.
Micky Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 For all the worriers..three words. Poortvliet and Wotte. Some have very short memories.... We'll be fine. Being fine and being promoted are two completely different things. As others have pointed out here - we are in a position that will be very hard to emulate in later seasons. If we do not capitalise from here, then we could remain in this league for many seasons to come. Yes, we will be fine - but fine is not the aim.
baxter Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 nice that being top and losing still makes you disappointed,,,
alpine_saint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 You are right Alpine but I am not confident that we will act promptly in the transfer market. Either we cannot afford the quality, their is not the will to invest in quality or we trying to do it more cheaply by building slowly over a longer period of time. That would be f**king mental. We are top after 24 games, even if the original plan was to do the build-up more gradually, it should be changed in the light of our over-achievement.
wessex saint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Well, that one took a long time to raise its head. The sad, bankrupt side-swipe of someone with no argument to make. Not really. You weren't there so to use words like dire are amazing. Were you there for the Palace game? Because at that game we showed we were way classier than the oppo.. the result was never in doubt for those who were there although I'm sure it sounded very different on the radio. I am gutted to lose against a team like City but I won't comment on the performance as I wasn't there. It's terrible being a Saints fan isn't it? Top of the league.... Top scorer and joint 3rd in the division. Things look bleak eh??
Dalek2003 Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Said after the loss at Bristol that many seem to be quite blase about it - and that seems to still be the case. Totally hacked off, can only see this giving other teams a boost, really expect to be overhauled quite quickly. Will be interesting to see if we can play catch up, or get through the play offs. Sorry to add to the depression but the slide is starting and will accelerate as the season draws to an end. We have enough points to finish 17th or just above.
Appy Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 That would be f**king mental. We are top after 24 games, even if the original plan was to do the build-up more gradually, it should be changed in the light of our over-achievement. You don't take Dalek seriously do you Alpine? He is a bigger WUM than you ffs.
dan17 Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Shame that we couldn't build up a bit of momentum after an excellent performance against Palace, but we struggle against Brizzle for some reason. Lets put tonight behind us now and look forward to the Brighton game. Really wouldn't call it that....
alpine_saint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Being fine and being promoted are two completely different things. As others have pointed out here - we are in a position that will be very hard to emulate in later seasons. If we do not capitalise from here, then we could remain in this league for many seasons to come. Yes, we will be fine - but fine is not the aim. I am starting to see a worrying parallel between Burley's full season ending in play-off heartbreak and this season. This really could be our big chance that we are about to blow if NC and NA get the decisions wrong over the next couple of weeks.
BlakeySFC Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 I think this one was written in the stars to be honest. I'm bitterly dissapointed as everyone is but: Bristol City haven't lost their last fixture of the calendar year since 2000, and we haven't beat them since 2008
RobM Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Sorry to add to the depression but the slide is starting and will accelerate as the season draws to an end. We have enough points to finish 17th or just above. You're enjoying this 'as I predicted' doom and gloom lark a bit too much.
Winnersaint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 No knee jerk reaction here but I genuinely don't think we will go up this year. Maybe in 2012 tho! whatever pans out a big thanks to Nigel and the players for a fantatstic calendar year
smithy Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Listened to the game on player and we did not deserve to lose. We were unlucky and got caught on the break. I do agree that we need to strengthen the side, we need better options from the bench. I think it's a little early to write of our promotion hopes.
thornhill_saints Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Just back from the game, thats the worst performance all season, apart from the 2 - 0 away to bristol. They could of had 3 goals, ricky, Gully, no at there best today!!!
Rasiak-9- Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Yes we will as I predicted. As you predicted etc. I could understand if there was some sort of tone of regret or disappointment to any of your posts. But every single time the emphasis is solely on the fact that "you predicted it" "my prediction of 17th will be closest" etc.etc. You're making it very clear which outcome is preferable to you.
alpine_saint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 You don't take Dalek seriously do you Alpine? He is a bigger WUM than you ffs. He might be a bit "persistent" with his outlook, but I dont view him to be a WUM. I dont understand why people are labelled this when they have strongly-held opinions which dont corellate with the majority outlook.
DG Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 On the way back, we got what we deserved from the game. We were shocking, 90mins to forget.
St Chalet Posted 30 December, 2011 Author Posted 30 December, 2011 You're enjoying this 'as I predicted' doom and gloom lark a bit too much. At least he has STFU about Hoddle as a result.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 You couldn't be more wrong. I wish I was wrong but my prediction of 17th will probably be much closer to the truth than those who predicted top 2 and even top 6. I see you're from Norwich - are you Alan Bloody Partridge? FFS start talking about Hoddle again. Please.
thornhill_saints Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Listened to the game on player and we did not deserve to lose. We were unlucky and got caught on the break. I do agree that we need to strengthen the side, we need better options from the bench. I think it's a little early to write of our promotion hopes. We did FACT!
