Play like Pompey to make the Play Offs

If last season is anything to go by we only need to match Pompey's results over the first first 23 games to guarantee a place in the Play Offs

Of course there would be a great deal of disappointment if we didnt make the top two but it shows all would not be lost if there was a bit of slippage in the second part of the season

With some stregthening in certain areas and good fortune with injuries/suspensions, we should be OK

Didnt realise that Swansea lost 14 games last season but got promoted through the Play Offs

I think the encouraging thing is that we're top even with very poor away form. Obviously we've needed near perfect home form to maintain our possition, but if we can get close to that in the second half of the season and get 4 or 5 wins on the road, we shouldn't do too bad. 3 points at the Amex would be a most agreeable start to 2012.

It's all about perspective.

Given where we are, and how long we've been there, not getting promoted will be a disappointment. As would not going up automatically, surely?

Spurs this season similarly will be aggrieved if they don't get a Champions League spot. Last year they were saying that a Europa League place was as good as it was going to get.

As daft as it sounds, the ambition should be to just win as many of our games as possible and see where we are at the end of it. Forget everything else. It's down to us.

We need the poll from pre season with the predictions on to see who is proved right apart from Dalek with 17th which everybody knows is wrong.

mine was Champions by the way so am half way there

Blimey, another one who thinks the season finishes at the end of 2011 !

I predicted a top half finish with outside chance of playoffs before the start of the season.

Revised that to expecting at least playoffs after 10 games.

At the halfway point, I'd be disappointed with anything less than 2nd now.

Revisions don't count, stick to your original like me.

I know it is obvious, but if we want an automatic spot we really need to up our away form, as we can't just rely on our home form. We have lost 4 away games so far which I think is as many Norwich and QPR lost by the end of last season.

Not so much, a final 23 matches of something like W11 D6 L6 would probably get us there. We've 11 home and 12 away games left I think so if we could win 3 aways as per the first part of the season we'd only need to win 8 out of our remaining home games. I can see 8 very winnable at home,in fact nailed on winnable Doncaster,Brizzle,Barnsley,Coventry,Ipswich,Derby,Skates and Burnley, 3 away games to be won,say Watford,Palarse and Forest leaving us needing to just pick up 6 draws from all the rest, so you see winning at Brighton on Tuesday could even be a bonus

More interestingly is that QPR drew 7 home games and Norwich drew 6, something we don't look close to doing. So worrying too much about mirroring what others have done (aside from the points tally) is fruitless.

If we keep up our unbelievable home form - say remain unbeaten and draw a couple more - then our away form can be pretty average.

I think QPR and Norwich both lost 4 away from home last season?

Well, was the Championship as strong last year as it is this year? Don't think so.

West Ham, rejuvenated Middlesbrough, a brand new Cardiff, it's going to be tough regardless of how we do. Still, as I previously said, let's just keep winning and see where we end up. It's Nigel's philosophy and it's not done us any harm so far.

Yes or thereabouts !

However, f we make significant signings in the transfer window, and I doubt we will, then I will probably be proved wrong.

Are you still taking bets? I've asked several times with no reply. I'm happy to bet we finish in the top 10. Any sum you want - at evens.
