Saints don't want Sharp or Maynard

we never really got to the bottom of the Sharp transfer collapse, but on face value it looked like he wanted more wages than we were willing to offer. His wife's pregnancy has subsequently been used as a reason for not wanting to move, but I don't think that had anything to do with it. Why chat at all of you didn't want to move. The Maynard deal never seemed to get off the ground as it appeared Bristol City wanted a sum far exceeding what we feel is right for a soon to be out of contract player. It therefore wouldn't surprise me if we spent the last 5 months scouting elsewhere.

Quite happy, as I'm not a huge admirer of either. There could well be better players from abroad more reasonably priced and demanding lower wages.

Agree with this. Sharp fell through and I would be very surprised if the club tried to resurrect it. As for Maynard, they may well feel that he is going to end up in the Prem. Strange wording though, I'm sure they'd want both of them, just that they have targeted elsewhere as their priorities.

This is the man then. Heard on 5 live about a month ago that he is on his way to us. During the Coventry v Posh game.

Not that I doubt your logic, but makes you wonder why we didn't sign him on loan when it was rumoured. He would have helped us to a few more points in our sticky December I reckon.

maybe coventry did not want to...we can't just sign who we want when we want...?

They would have done I reckon - they are desperate for any sort of cash coming their way - if I recall the manager as much as admitted that on the radio after one of their games.

Everytime i see those two gags along with the Forecast and Pulis ones, even after the 5749992 time, i dont know if i should PMSL or LMFAO.

Personally i think that both of them (JOKES) have really really passed their sell by date.

Whoever comes in - if any, I will get behind them 100%. COYR we have had an amazing 2011, lets kick on and make 2012 just as successful.

Hardly has a dazzling scoring record and has never really stood out when i've seen him. Jordan Rhodes would be great, but like I said I think it may be someone from abroad.

Good for a crap team like Cov. More than Rodriguez, and I think, Sharp.

Not sure if LJ is the answer myself either, but his scoring record bodes reasonably well.

Good jokes are timeless, just look at Tommy Cooper.

Jay Rod was our number 1 target in late august, I know that from a pretty decent agent I've known for years. We did bid for both Fox and Jay Rod, that definitely happened. We went back in against on deadline day for Jay Rod, even Sky Sports confirmed that, but it was too late really for anything to be sorted out then.

I still expect him to be our top target. He'll cost a fair bit of money, but the bid we made from what I've heard is still on the table and was to be revisited in January. So we'll have to wait and see.

marvin sordell seems to have gone under the radar. we had a £4million bid turned down on deadline day and were rumoured to be going back in for him apparently. fits the young, english talent everybody bangs on about

F*ck me we bid for everyone on deadline day didn't we? So far i've heard Jay Rodriguez, Sordell and Beckford, along with Lukas J on loan deadline day all of them knocked us back or fell through for one reason or another apprantly.

Without wanting to sound like Corp Ho, my oppo at Burnley, who told me about the Jay Rod and Fox deals in the 1st place, as I said on here at the time, has said that Saints left the deal on the table but Burnley hadn't heard anything since. He's away on a cruise for the next 2 weeks so I can't hassle him for an update!

Certainly something was very close to happening with Lukas. You only had to hear the interview with the Coventry manager to know that.

I'm the Echo story at the time was that we would look to buy him in January but were prepared to pay a bit more for a loan in November + a permanent move in January. Maybe Cov opted for the latter in the hope Lukas scored enough goals to give them a fighting chance of avoiding the drop before departing. Even Lukas was pretty non-committal when questioned about the move, saying something along the lines of "it wasn't the right time to comment on the speculation" rather than a firm "I'm staying at Cov". Didn't someone also post today, on another thread, that he'd heard Jay Rod was a done deal? Whatever happens, the first we'll truly know will be on the OS as always but it would seem two of the liklier candidates can be struck off the list, if this info is true.

Rhodes currently scores at a rate of 1 in 2, Lucas and Jay score one in 4.

and Rhodes is playing for one of the best teams in a lower league and Lucas is playing for an awful side in this league. I have no opinion on Jay Rod, dont know enough about him.
