Lorry Mack Posted 29 December, 2011 Share Posted 29 December, 2011 Does anyone know what the latest is on the re-development of Staplewood. Haven't heard anything about this from the club for ages. Has work started and if so when is it likely to be be completed?
S-Clarke Posted 29 December, 2011 Share Posted 29 December, 2011 The temporary huts have been up for a while, but as far as I know no work has started and all the old buildings are still in use. Went passed a month or so ago and there wasn't a sign of any building activity what so ever. May have changed a bit since then though.
*Halo* Posted 29 December, 2011 Share Posted 29 December, 2011 Does anyone know what the latest is on the re-development of Staplewood. Haven't heard anything about this from the club for ages. Has work started and if so when is it likely to be be completed? It's not often that I personally get to hear any possibly useful snippits of 'inside information', but I was told something recently on the development front during a random chance conversation with someone employed at the Club, which you may be interested in. (I do not "see him socially every couple of weeks" though, so take the info with a pinch of pickled pepper). This gist of the conversation implied that it was decided to put further work on hold until the close-season. The reasons given for this decision were along the lines that we have done so well so far, to give ourselves the opportunity of gaining Promotion this season, that the Club do not want to take the risk of any unnecessary forms of distraction affecting our performance on the pitch. "We don't want there to be any available excuses for failure", it was phrased. Another sentence I recall from the brief conversation was: "Right now, Staplewood is a proper little hive of intensive focussed endeavour. Maybe turning up to work at a 'building site' everyday would not be considered conducive of the best environment for our team of players and staff to excel under". (maybe not exactly 'word for word', but pretty much what I can remember) The general thrust of the message though, was that right now, everything going on at the Club is highly focussed on promotion, and they do not even want to take the slightest risk that could lead to distraction. I don't know with any particular assurance that this information is "FACT", but seeing that you asked, thought I'd offer what I'd heard. Makes sense to me though, and I have no particular reason to doubt the source either. It was just a few 'on the spot' remarks in response to a question I asked similar to your OP. The source was someone who I would deem respectable, and can't see why he would feel the need to make that up, when he could have simply just told me he was unable to comment. Anyway, hope it was of some interest to you.
Matthew Le God Posted 29 December, 2011 Share Posted 29 December, 2011 Sounds sensible really.
trousers Posted 29 December, 2011 Share Posted 29 December, 2011 Cheers for that insight *halo*. Makes perfect sense to me. Shows that the club are paying attention to every little detail.
Crab Lungs Posted 29 December, 2011 Share Posted 29 December, 2011 For those of you not satisfied with the positive quality of the rumour, fear not -someone will be along shortly to offer the palatable theory that all the financial backing of the club has been withdrawn and the Liebherr's are selling up. Haha, I thought I'd say it tongue-in-cheek before someone genuinely does offer that as a theory. :-o

*Halo* Posted 29 December, 2011 Share Posted 29 December, 2011 Cheers for that insight *halo*. You're welcome. Makes perfect sense to me. Shows that the club are paying attention to every little detail. Indeed. I very much get the impression that all this "attention to detail" and "Together as One" lingo emanating from the Club, is far from just empty platitudes for the fans to lap up. Seems to me that the entire Club currently exudes a spirit of positivity and togetherness that could just well prove to be the 'competitive edge' that gets us over the finishing line to Automatic Promotion. For those of you not satisfied with the positive quality of the rumour, fear not -someone will be along shortly to offer the palatable theory that all the financial backing of the club has been withdrawn and the Liebherr's are selling up. I did hear this too to be fair, from someone I do "see socially every couple of weeks"; but then, he is full of sheet, so I tend to treat him with the contempt he deserves, and not take anything he says even remotely seriously. Well anyway, I'd better save my last post of the day, for the albeit extremely unlikely event, that I may find something else of any particular value or interest to contribute. So that's me signing off for the night.
