Tony F Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 Thats great - Saints are a Premiership team already - so much for editorial accuracy!!
um pahars Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 I remember that when it first appeared!!!!! Someone should have kept a list of all the players we were linked with: Drogba et al
Piran Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 Did anyone see the date of that article? August 2001!
saintscottofthenortham Posted 29 December, 2011 Author Posted 29 December, 2011 Did anyone see the date of that article? August 2001! NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Really!? Ohhhhhhhhh maaaaaaaaaaaan!!! I actually thought we were actually going to sign Oliver Bierhoff!!!
stevegrant Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 I remember Lowe's (perfectly reasonable but not especially diplomatic) comments after it fell through when Bierhoff wanted £35k a week: "Oliver has to realise we are not Manchester United and he is not 27 anymore"
Big_Bald_Si Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 Even more gutting is that Marian's facing a race to be fit for our next game. Could really do with him against City
Saint Garrett Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 Adebayor, Saha and Malbranque signed yet ?? STTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Never heard that, but that is brilliant!
The Majestic Channon Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 If my memory serves me right we had Drogba at st marys talking over a move too, fell through due to high wage demands i think
Crab Lungs Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 I remember when Colin Lee and David Platt were always linked to the managers position
Crab Lungs Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 Oh, and another transfer miss - Rosicky when he was at Sparta Prague (I think?). We were quoted £10m, I believe.
VectisSaint Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 If my memory serves me right we had Drogba at st marys talking over a move too, fell through due to high wage demands i think I thought it fell through because Lowe thought Drogba had an attitude problem. Still we had Brett Ormerod so no worries.
Crab Lungs Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 ...the Mido/Paul Sturrock incident, Lol.
The Majestic Channon Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 Oh, and another transfer miss - Rosicky when he was at Sparta Prague (I think?). We were quoted £10m, I believe. I remember platt being linked, and Graham taylor, remember the sun back page ' saint turnip'
Thedelldays Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 will never forget when wigley was announced and 'head coach'....we had been linked with gerrard houllier and other top managers...lowe said the saints job was one of the nations top jobs.... i thought wigley getting the job was a joke....seriously
SuperSAINT Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 I remember Lowe's (perfectly reasonable but not especially diplomatic) comments after it fell through when Bierhoff wanted £35k a week: "Oliver has to realise we are not Manchester United and he is not 27 anymore" Brilliant, Steve. I remember that too.

Been thinking back to the lowe days reading this thread and it reminds me of how lucky we are with our owners / chairman now,i haven't felt this good being a saint since the Lawrie days.
ART Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 (edited) Shame Edited 29 December, 2011 by ART duplicate posting
ART Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 Shame that Saints weren't interested in OLIVIER GIROUD last season when he was available for peanuts. Amazing player and some lucky club as going to get him from my local team Montpellier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR_kI9eA5lQ
JackFrost Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 This was just after we signed killer from Troyes for £2million

Kingsland Red Posted 29 December, 2011 Posted 29 December, 2011 Still got my AC Milan 'Bierhoff' fake shirt I got in Corfu and wore to the first game of the season. It was a certainty when we left for that holiday !!

Hockey_saint Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 Going back some, but I was thinking the other day about some of the players we've turned down....Gazza for example; just imagine him and Le Tiss as 2 attacking midfielders behind one Alan Shearer. But then as I pointed out to a Blackburn fan friend of mine the other day; It all really boils down to how the manager can utilise them a-la Branfoot struggling at the bottom of the premiership with the bases of a team that won the league. :s
manji Posted 30 December, 2011 Posted 30 December, 2011 ...the Mido/Paul Sturrock incident, Lol. My favorite. The Egg Sandwich one I presume ?
