Saintandy666 Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 Never really broke into the first team and we are probably going places that are beyond a player of his skill(which is good, just not Premiership). Good luck to him if he leaves.
Saint Charlie Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 Should be looking to move on the players like him that aren't up to the level we are at. Holmes, Dickson and maybe even Barnard as well as Forte.

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 (edited) But who would we measure speed against if he went?? Edited 28 December, 2011 by Ivan Katalinic's 'tache
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 Would free up some of the wage budget as would Dickson & Holmes going. Will always be grateful for his intervention against the Dons but perhaps it's time he moved on for his own career if nothing else.

Agree about the others though unfortunately and really should be operating on a one in one out style policy.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 Seeing as we only gave barnard a new contract at the end of last season i'd be surprised. Agree about the others though unfortunately and really should be operating on a one in one out style policy. I was watching that YouTube compilation of all last seasons Saints goals the other day - a worthwhile reminder of what a fine and prolific finisher Lee Barnard can be on his day. Works his socks off for the cause as well. Good enough for the Premier League then ? .... well no I guess, but Bret Ormerod did a job for us back in the day and Barnard may well be on a not too dissimilar ability level. Leicestersaint Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 I would not include Holmes - I think he has considerable potential
SNSUN Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 We're aiming for the Premiership, with potentially the chance to get there next season. If that happens, I'm afraid sentimentality doesn't come into it - quite simply it's out with the old and in with the new. Forte will be swiftly forgotten, but his name will always have it's place in Saints history - for the two goals that we believe played a big part in us getting promoted from League One. S-Clarke Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 I have no idea why or how people are coming to the conclusion that Barnard is not good enough for us anymore. How many minutes has he had in this team this year to even give it a good shot? Exactly.
Lighthouse Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 I would not include Holmes - I think he has considerable potential He's 24 and rarely troubles the bench in the Championship. I don't really think I'd class that as Premier League potential, even ignoring all his injury problems. Also he's not all that different to Lallana. Skilled, good on the ball and can put in a decent delivery, but really not up to much when it comes to strength or pace. I'd like to find another De Ridder/Antonio/AOC type winger who can run at players and cause them problems. Forte has to move on, sooner rather than later. Hopefully he doesn't just turn into another Pulis/Forecast happy just to sit out the entirity of his contract with endless loans to lower league sides. He is an average League 1 player, nothing more. Not a Championship player and certainly not a Premier League player. He gave us 3 great minutes against MK Dons, but has done bugger all else. david in sweden Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 .(Forte) He gave us 3 great minutes against MK Dons, but has done bugger all else. ....but it was a very valuable 3 minutes, as I recall. It's not his fault really. NA brought him in an emergency, and he did a job for us on the day. He deserves regular football and perhaps somewhere like Walsall is about his level...
