Another victim of this fawning, pretentious city full of f()ckwits?

The supposed venue isn't in the City Of Southampton; It's in the Test Valley district - so please p1ss off with your constant and pathetic slating of my city... or feck off to the PO post-code areas you love so much.

Union Street was pretty bad when I went to uni there, my mate got stabbed outside Millenium.

the police adopted a zero tolerance policy a few years back..and it cleaned the place right up..that and all the bars shut at different times..rather than 1000's of people getting kicked out on union street at 2am

It's not the worst, very standard average sized town mentality. Most people in town are nice enough, but there's also a fair number of morons. Nothing unique to Southampton. In my experience, Cardiff had more trouble, although probably more friendly people too. I find least trouble in London personally.

Still, it takes nothing for a footballer to be reported as in a bar fight. I still remember a Beattie incident when someone literally walked up, shouted in his face then hit him. Not that hard, minor scuffle but unprovoked and over very quickly, but the papers went with the Beattie in drunken bar brawl angle. Fairly daft to judge either way when nothing absolutely nothing. Could be his fault, could not be, could be a minor thing either way.

I remember Beatts doing a newspaper interview to set the record straight on that one and donating the fee received to charity. Also remember his little ruckus with some Skates in a Chinese restaurant where he threw a spoon at one of their heads.

Shame Lambert had to get involved in something like that at such an important time for us but if he was merely defending himself from some gobby little skates and dished out a few slaps then he's even more of a legend to me.

No need mate, I think it's fair that we have established all cities have their bad element.

He's only on a wind-up. Or he might not be, I don't know, but he's taken a disliking to me for whatever reason so he's going to be a bit more damning towards me if he doesn't agree with something I say.

I really hope this isn't too bad.

Before the West Ham game I was in the press room at SMS and a journo said he had heard Lambert was injured in a warm-up and would miss the game. The West Ham media people suddenly had wide smiles on their faces. I texted a West Ham fan I knew to tell her and she immediately announced 'oh we're going to win now'. Not a word of a lie.

The guy strikes fear into the opposition, or at least people around the team. If we lose him, it'll be a blow to say the least.

So I repeat - here's hoping it's not too bad.

I would say Southampton, IMHO, is one of the worst for it in my experience. Never been to Cov, but of course, you're defo right when you say there are ****heads everywhere.

Southampton always been bad for bitter twisted hot heads but was out in cov last week and the tension there was very tangible and weird......They were literally begging for a fight..............

Reading the locals versus Scouses angle of the Sun story, which sure doesn't mean it's gospel, that's about the last thing we needed with the window about to open and "big clubs" sniffing around for him.

don't think will make 1 bit of difference with the Jan window and clubs sniffing around, he won't be going anywhere anyway.

Probably true, but liking the area, liking the Club and wanting to stay here are keys to high-level performance, but that works both ways. I'm glad he (apparently) wasn't involved but I don't like the sound of it.

WTF... Fantastic reasoning for a mass brawl. :-/

You dont believe any of this do you? We all know the Sun is one of the worst tabloids out there and just one of many that make up lies and bullsh*t usually to destabilse our club as part of the media wide anti Saints agenda. I cant wait until the mirror runs the article, then we will know for definite that it really is all bulls*it.
