Colinjb Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Normal service now being resumed, so the innevitable question is coming. Who was your MOTM v Palace. If a mod can help with the poll, yes, greatly appreciated. Options: Davis Richardson Fox Fonte Hooiveld De Ridder Lallana Cork Schneiderlin Lambert Do Prado Hammond Connolly
saintbob40 Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan was more eye catching but Cork got through a lot more work........so Cork for me.
ottery st mary Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Cork...closely followed by Spiderman and De Ridder. Nigel is the star man though ....
Saint_Mabes Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan without doubt, best I've seen him.
S-Clarke Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan and Cork were both outstanding, but Morgan pips him.
Avenue Saint Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Cork was tips but Morgan yesterday truly showed the gulf between him and say what Hammond brings to the team. Brilliant performance and the quality from those two dictated the course I the game!
Mr Sparky Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan....... by far his best game in red and white, and probably the first time he has really looked proper quality. The position he was in suited his style of play, and he was always there mopping up at the back.
eelpie Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan easily. Guly got the goals, Cork grafted, but Morgan ran the game with beguiling passes around the pitch that confused the opposition, and sharp tackling that we haven't seen too much of this season from him.
Chez Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan....... by far his best game in red and white, and probably the first time he has really looked proper quality. he was great, but he plays like that (in centre midfield) pretty much all the time IMO. He's had better games too. Milton Keynes away (Lambert hatrick game) is the best I've ever seen him play.
Badger Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan easily. Guly got the goals, Cork grafted, but Morgan ran the game with beguiling passes around the pitch that confused the opposition, and sharp tackling that we haven't seen too much of this season from him. Agree about Morgan yesterday, my concern about him is whether he is able to produce that form consistantly. The only way of knowing is of course if NA selects him again for the visit of Bristol City, rightly or wrongly I expect Hammond will come back as the CM positions are rotated with the BHA match in mind.
Roger Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 he was great, but he plays like that (in centre midfield) pretty much all the time IMO. He's had better games too. Milton Keynes away (Lambert hatrick game) is the best I've ever seen him play. What about man utd home in the cup. At right mid he cant use his passing ability.
Jack Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan for me. Cork, Jos and SDR worthy of a mention.
Saint_Jonny Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan yep! He was brilliant yesterday.
ladysaint Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan for me love him in central midfield think he was a handful for palace and he took a bit of a battering from them.
Window Cleaner Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 he took a bit of a battering from them. without retaliation or haranguing the ref,new Morgan then(or could be just that he's on 4 cards thanks to sh*it treatment from lower league crap in the Carling and Nigel fines them a big wodge for getting suspended)
SuperMikey Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan and Hooiveld were absolutely amazing, it's a tie between them tbh. Morgan was more eye-catching and his passing was perfect, but Hooiveld looked so assured and I was never in doubt of him.
The Godfather Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan was our best player, with Richardson not far behind.
pingwing Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan a truly outstanding performance from the middle of the park, a real lesson on what he is best at and where he should have been played in the last few games (helped a bit by steve on the wing and guly having the confidence to come back towards the middle to make more passes)
Saint dyer Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 morgan was immense.closely followed by cork
Saint Fan CaM Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 De Ridder. Made the break through goal, was a constant threat to the Palace defence and his closing down yesterday was superb. Deserves a start on Friday f'sure. (Having said that, the whole team played well and most importantly played for each other).
Chez Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 What about man utd home in the cup. I was tempted to mention that game too. The guy is top quality and I simply do not understand those fan that don't see what he offers. The guy would look at home in the Premiership.
timb289 Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 It's hard to single one player out; but Richardson for me! Connolly looked a bit rusty when he came on, had a few stray touches. Lets hope he can regain his form asap. His link up play with Lallana and Lambert has been missed.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 3rd Scchneiderlin 2nd Cork 1st Guly
Jackie@home Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Definitely Morgan - absolutely outstanding today - ran the midfield & always found space. He looked like a Premiership player.
Painswick Saint Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan, Jack Cork or Jos Hooiveld. I thought Steve de Ridder had a good game , as well. Overall, Morgan Schneiderlin
corsacar saint Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Jos or Morgan and Jack Cork was magnificent as well.
SFC Forever Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan with Jos and Jack just behind. Steve showed that he may after all have a big part to play as well.
Lighthouse Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 he was great, but he plays like that (in centre midfield) pretty much all the time IMO. He's had better games too. Milton Keynes away (Lambert hatrick game) is the best I've ever seen him play. I've seen you say this quite a few times. I was at that game and I really can't fathom where you're getting that from. That was by far the dullest, most uncreative game we've ever won 3-0. The first goal was a long hoof from Davis which Lambert just nodded past everyone, the second was a penalty after a corner (looked like Fonte dived to me) and the third was pure brilliance from Lambert with that lob. Morgan played alright in that game, but we were largely uncreative throughout. Don't remember him making any telling passes which unlocked their defence.
Big_Bald_Si Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Quite shocked by the lack of Steve De Ridder's name on this thread. I thought it was a toss up between Morgan (midfield maestro yesterday - had a very Vieira-esque performance) and Steve De Ridder. Think that particularly impressed me was his willingness to tackle back - with his best moment of the whole game (bar the cross for the first goal which was fantastic wing play) was hammering it back to tackle Scannel when he had burst through, and he put in a crunching challenge. Legend. Also loved the chant for him too (na na, na na na na! Hey hey hey, Steve De Ridder!)
Alain Perrin Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 It's hard to single one player out; but Richardson for me! Connolly looked a bit rusty when he came on, had a few stray touches. Lets hope he can regain his form asap. His link up play with Lallana and Lambert has been missed. Can't agree about Richardson, I thought he struggled with the pace of their left back and they double teamed him on crosses (clearly knowing his assist rate). That said, the one time he did manage to get past his man - cracking cross, 2 - 0. For me though, Morgan was outstanding. Grit, sensible use of the ball. Ran the game, especially in the second half. Proves the Morgan doubters know **** all (but I think they've moved onto Guly now...).
dellgirl Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Morgan by a mile. Made Merrington look a bit silly on the radio before the match ,saying Hammond and Cork were his preferred duo.
Chez Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 (edited) I've seen you say this quite a few times. I was at that game and I really can't fathom where you're getting that from. Don't remember him making any telling passes which unlocked their defence.I don't recall any telling passes yesterday either, nor it being all that exciting or creative, but its not creativity that is Morgan's forte, its running a game, grabbing second ball and dictating the play. In both games he was absolutely everywhere and no one could touch him. Strength, pace and a tremendous ability to just coast away from problems effortlessly. Morgan is just one of those players that I love to watch. He makes the game look easy. I get the feeling that his skills are taken fir granted or that those that haven't played the game don't see what he does. His first touch is Premiership level. I've been saying that for three years. He's since added strength, pace and grit to his game. In the Franchise game he showed the lot. I think most were too busy applauding Ricky for his hatrick. Edited 27 December, 2011 by Chez
Chez Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Can't agree about Richardson, I thought he struggled with the pace of their left back and they double teamed him on crosses (clearly knowing his assist rate). That said, the one time he did manage to get past his man - cracking cross, 2 - 0. you're kidding, right? He had a great game and was never beaten or exposed. As for their left side it was terrible. Parr and Ramage are as bad a pair as I've seen all season. Pace, what pace? Oh, I see, you meant he struggled to beat the left back. Well first and foremost he is a fullback not a winger, so not beating his opponent for pace is hardly a crime, but I thought whenever he ventured forward he caused all kinds of problems and often had the beating of him. What a season he is having.
Wes Tender Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Cork by a country mile, then Schneiderlin, then Richardson and Hooiveld
View From The Top Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Nipper says Morgan and I'll go Jos.
Roger Posted 27 December, 2011 Posted 27 December, 2011 Cork by a country mile, then Schneiderlin, then Richardson and Hooiveld No way cork was better than Morgan IMO. Morgan ran the game.

What a season he is having. Is Parr the blonde bloke - no. 4(?)? If so I think he had the beating of Richardson for pace. He certainly worried him a few times with diagonal runs. That said, they had no end product and Richardson dealt with him and snuffed out the threat. I'm in no way saying that Richardson had a bad game, he didn't, he's been great this season (especially as he wasn't all that last season when coming back from injury). However, for me, Morgan was the outstanding performer yesterday.
