Crazy Diamond Posted 26 December, 2011 Posted 26 December, 2011 A few weeks ago we had the improvement of the 'grow faster lights' being brought in, now the club have decided to invest in some artificial turf for the perimeter of the pitch. It's been installed around half of the pitch, stretching from the Chapel to the Itchen, which means linesmen will have a better surface to run up and down and substitutes can warm up without getting their boots dirty. It's the type that has the black plastic or rubber bits that go everywhere. Apparently it's a high grade of artificial turf, but I know sod all about it to be quite honest. Just thought you'd all like to know!
Golden Balls Posted 26 December, 2011 Posted 26 December, 2011 Noticed this, don't really see the point

Matthew Le God Posted 26 December, 2011 Posted 26 December, 2011 Noticed this, don't really see the point The linesman areas were becoming muddy quagmires. Particularly noticeable in the heavy rain at the youth cup game a couple of weeks ago. This prevents it happening and gives them a good surface to run on without slipping.

Matthew Le God Posted 26 December, 2011 Posted 26 December, 2011 Nobody wants to see the linesmen slip on their @rses, do they?!! Well I don't if he then fails to spot an offside for an opposing team.

Or at least the other side of the pitch for the other referees assistant.
Thedelldays Posted 26 December, 2011 Posted 26 December, 2011 Well if that's the case why don't they just do the whole pitch? Or at least the other side of the pitch for the other referees assistant. probably because it is the side where the players warm up also....
Crazy Diamond Posted 26 December, 2011 Author Posted 26 December, 2011 Or at least the other side of the pitch for the other referees assistant. They might well do that. I saw three trucks carrying the new lights after a game a few weeks ago (forget which one it was), so maybe they installed the other half of the artificial turf after tonight's game. You never know. One other observation, they've got a big 'together we stand' thing like you see around town in the tunnel now. I say now, it was done a while back, I just hadn't thought to mention it.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 26 December, 2011 Posted 26 December, 2011 It was to please Andy D'Ar$ehole.
LGTL Posted 26 December, 2011 Posted 26 December, 2011 I wonder if those poxy black bits got into the boots of the lino all game like they do when I play on that surface? Does my head in.
