S4INT Posted 26 December, 2011 Share Posted 26 December, 2011 Firstly, we are fantastically lucky to have him as manager. Deals with the game so well in this league. Secondofall, does anyone know his W-D-L statistics since he has been manager of the club? They must be pretty impressive...

stardustonmyfeet Posted 26 December, 2011 Share Posted 26 December, 2011 I remember when people on here used to bring up George Burley's win percentage in an utterly lame attempt to show how well he was doing in comparison to the likes of Strachan and Hoddle. Never quite understood how that statistic got wheeled out so often when the managers were literally working in different leagues. Makes me so grateful to have Adkins on board. Who needs dodgy stats when the only stat that matters is the no.1 spot on the league table?

Who needs dodgy stats when the only stat that matters is the no.1 spot on the league table? Hoddle/Strachan had Premier League quality players at their disposal, Burley didn't. A comparison of managers across leagues is, in my opinion, one of the few cross-league comparisons that has any validity; it's why tables such as this http://www.leaguemanagers.com/managers/mpl-league.html are not produced for players. Top league, top players. Poor league, poor players. That said, I think Adkins is doing a better job than any other Saints manager in my lifetime! landford.saint Posted 27 December, 2011 Share Posted 27 December, 2011 Just had a quick look at that league manager thingey for last year. Fergie top, Adkins second (by only 1 point). Does that make therefore, Adkins as second best manager in English Football? There is a point for discussion over a few pints down the Ferret and Firkin.
