Android Phone Advice

I am looking to buy an android phone in the next few weeks, there are so many on the market that it's overwhelming if you don't know all the jargon. So, i'll tell you what I need it for and maybe someone can advise me of the best ones.

Basically:

  • It needs to be unlocked
  • Be under £200 (ish)
  • Be able to run a fair few apps, most of which must be OS 2.0 (No idea what that means)
  • Most use will be for text messages and internet.

I will be getting a Giff Gaff Sim card, I assume they are ok with android phones, It'll need to be reasonably fast but I won't need it for streaming, Youtube etc, just surfing the net, facebook and so on.

I have been told to get an HTC but these seem to be over the £200 for a decent one.

  • 4 weeks later...

Nothing is broken with it, I just think it's a rubbish phone and I'd happily get shot of it for £150 and buy an iPhone. Alternatively, I'll just take it to Carphone Warehouse and get a cheque for £105 unless they've recently reduced what they're paying.

Ok - I guess its not the phone then but the Android operating system you can't get on with. When the Desire first came out it was consistently at the top of reviewers handset lists. The biggest downside is the lack of onboard storage which means fiddling around to get the apps installed on the SD card

In case anyone is also looking, i just bought one of these and it is fantastic. Apart from a slightly poor camera it gets top marks from me for everything.

I have one too. They are superb value. Lots of pre installed bloatware though but easily rooted so you can delete all the rubbish.

The camera is ok but the software doesn't do it justice. Get the LG camera from the market and use that, makes a real difference.
