I think it goes back to the 2004/5 season when he gave a opposition player two yellow cards at St Marys, but forgot to actualy send him off. If memory serves on every subsequent visit he's been so awful some have gone so far as to question his integrity. How this man is still in employment as a referee is one of the great unanswered questions of English football.

Also (correctly) called off last year's game at Charlton after being let down by the home team's preparation / groundspeople. I'm sure this isn't what people want to hear but he's probably still one of the better refs at this level - and he'll need to be against DirtyCheatin'Brighton.

Tend to agree, I think he has been ok at this level. From memory it is Arsenal, not us, who have history with him. Seem to recall having a similar thread pre the Brighton home game, and he turned out ok (for us)

If so we'll be fine given their disciplinary record Yeah very card happy, so much so he'll book someone twice and not send them off. Blackburn at home, 2004. One of the few bloody games we won that season.

Did not realise D'Urso was the ref though.
