All this crap about not knowing they were on sale originally is just that, crap. When there is a big game a matter of weeks away, how hard is it to check the OS for 2 seconds each day? After all the majority of you are on here most days...Those who have them are rightly all sth's too, so all's well that ends well. Personally can't wait for it.

Just give up, you didnt get a ticket, stop blaming everyone else. Your argument is pathetic.

Not hard to work out is it...

We had an initial 2000 sell out in a matter of hours. Therefore an additional small allocation is going to be no more than a couple of hundred at the most. Even if you knew the number, the majority of people would still turn up and chance it.

Even if they told you earlier that they didnt have enough tickets you would still moan, christ!

You alright mate? Seems like someones a bit obsessed with all this.

I think you are missing the point. I go along with everything you have written, but the issue for me is why they let 500 people queue for two hours, knowing that they didnt stand a chance of getting a ticket - WHY?

I can't see what the problem is, the first batch were available for 6 hours when they were first released. Surely enough time to get yourself on the phone, online or down to the stadium to purchase one.

Not if you were at work in an environment where I cant use my phone freely. Sad disappointed face.

Brighton are such a poxy small club with a small mentality hence one of the most spanking new stadia in Britain having just 3000 capacity in an away end that will house the likes of SFC,Leeds,West Ham,Derby,Forest etc etc. Away day demand wise we badly need to be back in the prem.

Well myself and a few others missed the late Thursday night announcement and only realised they were on sale (and almost sold out) when I looked at my phone on the Friday afternoon.

Is it the norm for big demand games to have a late night announcement the evening before they go on sale???

Is it the norm for big demand games not to implement any sort of ballot/priority selling??

As for this morning, well they were always going to be overwhelmed, but they could have saved a few hundred people an unnecessary queue once it was obvious demand was going to out strip supply.

None of the above are rocket science and could easily have been resolved.

um, you are making out there is a deep lying problem..you missed out...unlucky really but many people are going to have to miss out.

plenty it seems knew pretty much what was going on and what it would take to get tickets......just a shame you never

I already have one but feel sorry for people that had to queue for several hours without being told they werent going to get one.

When Dave Luker was in charge he had the best ticket method which worked perfectly.

Give each category a few days and then no one can have any complaints.

Well there seem to be a fair few who don't think our ticketing arrangements are up to scratch (and the criticisms arent just restricted to this match). Personally I don't think they have been as proactive and as organised since Luker left, but that might just be a coincidence.

Certainly don't think just having a free for all with such short notice for a high demand game is the best way of distributing tickets.

Agreed, the point is why the club let hundreds of fans who clearly were never going to get a ticket queue. But hey Gemmel I'm not going to moan about it as many others haven't grasped that :-) the ticket office manager would have known that at least 80% of people in the queue didn't have a cat in hells chance.

I'll make the trip anyway, it will be a good day out and you never know might get one by off chance.

fair enough but many do come across with such sour grapes when even I knew about the ticket arrangements..and I am no where near the ground...a phone call and checking the OS was all it took....some are making out things are a "shambles"....really..?

Really? In grounds twice or 3 times the size of the amex we'll only be likely to get 3000? Genuine question.. I didnt attend many aways back in prem days.. A bit young and not as into it.. Are there not minimum percentage limits as proportion of stadium size? My bad if thats correct. I was just under the impression places like Emirates, Old Trafford, St James park would accommodate 5000 if necessary, still well under 10% of capacity..

What a lot of people on here don't realise is a lot of Saints fans don't have anywhere near as much access to the internet as many of us do.

is 10%, upto maximum of 3,000. 3k is the max you get at just about any premier league game

The rule in league games is the lower amount of 3,000 or 10% of capacity, with various caveats depending on how easy it is to segregate sections of the ground, etc.

For cup games, it's 15%, although there's been some sort of row between Man City and Man United about United's allocation for their forthcoming FA Cup game at Old Trafford. In theory, they should be entitled to around 7100 tickets, but City have restricted their allocation to 5500 on the grounds of "safety".

Or they do have access, but choose not to spend their lives surfing!!!!!

The original announcement and timing was not the best advert for how to communicate with your supporters.

Fact is the club don't give a sh!te, and why should they? They know they would flog all the tickets, it makes no difference to them if non internet users don't get any or if people queued for 2 hours.

We just have to accept that we are being run by a hard nosed business man, all that matters is the money.

Glad I didn't bother going down this morning, would missed out as I was going to get down there at around 7:15.

Seeing the thread, the ticket office should have made this batch of Brighton Tickets "one per person". It isn't fair that someone could get more than one just because they had more than one season ticket on them.

Nice one. So every prem away game if and when we get there is going to be a dog fight for tickets I guess. Cheers for the info.

I wouldn't necessarily say so. I for one won't be particularly bothered about getting a ticket at Stamford Bridge and paying £45 for the dubious privilege.

Certainly, when we were last in the top flight, we very rarely sold out away games as most of the away following had been to all the main grounds countless times before. I'd expect that to change for the first season if we go up, although there might still be some games where we struggle to sell very many. Places like Fulham and Chelsea are obviously easy to get to, but they'll probably charge a fortune. Fulham's away ticket prices vary quite a lot, for games against the likes of Blackburn and Bolton it'll be £20, but they charged both Man United and Man City fans £55 this season because they knew they'd sell the tickets.

You lot are hilarious...

Its always someone else fault when you dont get a ticket isnt it.

The ballots are done manually, everything manually! Do you really think they have time to do both the Pompey and Brighton games so close to Christmas?!

Majority of away games are on restricted sales, i.e. one per season tickets holder, this is one of the perks of having a ST.

People saying the tickets werent properly advertised... funny how I knew about them and managed to get 4 at 9am when the initial allocation went on sale.

If you want them enough, you search for the information yourself, it is there!

It took me 5 mins to get mine over the phone, can you not use your mobile for 5 mins at work and buy them?

And finally them not saying how many they have left and saying small allocation... Even if they said 150 left, majority of you would go down and try.

Anyway stop trying to blame others for YOU not getting a ticket. Tough luck. When theres limited sales, people will miss out, deal with it.

Rant over.

Well said, Neil.

What a load of sanctimonious guff.

It's not always possible for people to check the website every day, there wasn't even 24 hours notice so you could have checked the day before and still missed out anyway.

It really isn't too much to expect the ticket office to give a few days notice of tickets going on sale, especially given that's what people have come to expect.

I couldn't go to Brighton anyway but it's reasonable for people to be annoyed at missing out.

Whilst I'm sorry for yours and others' angst, I can't help but feel from a marketing perspective it's a cute trick.

There were several hundred disappointed fans today, some of whom have let many others know of their disappointment. Thus increasing the urgency with which fans will buy tickets for remaining fixtures.

"I don't want to miss out like those folks did for Brighton tickets...."

Ultimately, the club will try and sell as many tickets as possible. Anything that creates the reality, or perception, of demand outstripping supply, adds to demand....and happy days for ticket sales.

And before anyone jumps back with a "upsetting fans is a bad thing", football fans are notoriously loyal, it's not like changing your supermarket.....

So, whilst I can relate to the annoyance of the fans who queued without success, perhaps the club had some method in their madness.

(or probably more realistically, they just didnt give it a moment's thought!!!!!)

But before we hang the ticket office organisers, maybe we should wonder when the last time tickets went on sale and physical presence meant tickets for some and not for others? The internet and telephone lines has lessened the need to sell tickets by hand.......

You're gonna be even more disappointed then as the away capacity at the Amex is just a shade over 2,400. That's all the away end holds, so as we sold out in just a few hours the day they went on sale but they then found another 150 to put on sale yesterday you can only assume this 150 must have fallen under a desk or something!

The only grounds in the Prem that have given more than 10% to 'aways' for league games in recent years are the likes of Wigan, Fulham, Bolton, Blackburn, skates and other small clubs that just can't fill their grounds themselves.

To add insult to injury at missing out the first time round, I asked the ticket office if there was any chance of us getting anymore tickets and was told in no uncertain terms that there was no chance and that there was no point me asking again or checking the website with a view to seeing if some had been released.

Then I hear on the grapevine that there will be some more but that they're essentially only available to the unemployed or retired because you need to be prepared to go and get the bloody things in person.

All this after not getting round to checking the official website on a thursday, but logging on on a Friday afternoon to find out that an initial allocation of tickets have been announced, released and sold out all in less than 24 hours. And I have NO REASON to be at all annoyed according to some?

This is a monumental cockup by the ticket office. How hard would it be to have some policies in place that say there will be a minimum period of 72 hours or something similar between tickets being announced and actually going sale so that there is a chance for news to filter through?

2 people I know were in the queue on thursday morning andf didnt get a ticket. Then then had a right whige at the ticket office and have also emailed and Phoned to complain. They have been give tickets to the game. Despite not being season ticket holders and 1 of them has never been to an away game.
