captainchris Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 What is the bad attitude stuff based on? On the pitch he used to work very hard I always thought, and always wanted the ball. He certainly fits the style of play. This is just not true. Watch him closely - he stands in one place whilst the game goes on around him - he is a ball watcher. His shooting is terrible and he's not actually particularly pacy.............He is also disruptive so what is this clamour to bring him back? Yes we are short on the right but this guy is not the answer.........
Jonnyboy Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 His attitude is about as good as his English. If SFC were struggling he wouldn't be interested in the slightest in helping his team out of a scrap at the bottom. As soon as the possibility of a prem contract looks feasible he seems interested. Despite being good, and I do quite like his style of play, does anyone else just feel this is the kind of typical wannabe prem star attitude that could upset a steady ship in the 2nd half of the season? In short he comes across as a muppet in my opinion. This, although presumably any signings we go for in January will be influenced by our position as well. Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 Lets stick to Southampton shall we ? Why, we were the exception, not the rule? Same as Redcrapp. Considering how he has done at other teams you can't just judge him on his time here. That would be irresponsible and an irrational way to judge a manager. The lad has undoubted talent. Get him back I say and put the past in the past and move on.

Ok, lets judge him on his time at QPR shall we......and that's under a manager who really rates him.....!!! How many minutes has he played in half a season???? He is not good enough for our team and clearly can't step up to the premier league so what with all the other reasons for not bringing him back there's another.....A league one player with an attitude problem - we are now looking for much more class than this for our 'going places' team.... SNSUN Posted 23 December, 2011 Share Posted 23 December, 2011 He's a cock. BUT... he is a player with some talent, and plays in a position we currently lack. It's funny really, six months ago in the summer I was adamant I never wanted to see the big bummed bighead back in our team, and weirdly had we not started the season as well as we have done, I'd have said we could carry on without him. NOW though, in a position we've seen we're weak in, and on the threshold of being in the biggest league in the world, he's just the sort of player we could use. That said, if we can strengthen that position in January, then we won't need him anyway and he can **** off. To sumarise, right now he's a cockle, if he apologises and plays well he's forgiven - if he's the man to get us to the Premiership, then he'll be a hero. buctootim Posted 23 December, 2011 Share Posted 23 December, 2011 I wouldnt take him back. Yes he has some skill but a lousy attitude. The fact that QPR dont want to keep him after three months, depsite Puncheon (allegedly) paying for his own transfer should say something.

John Boy Saint Posted 23 December, 2011 Share Posted 23 December, 2011 yes it says we have already have SWP, Taarabat, Barton and Dyer ,plus more a few other, in midfield thanks................. Taarabat can leave whenever he wants, PSG were on the sniff Warnock said he would drive him there himself for the Mickey Mouse money being talked about. Dyers crocked long term. QPR friends of mine can't wait for the window to open as their squad is a bit light: they also said when JP comes on it is like a wasted substitution as he is not up to speed with the rest of the team. I think this little kink in his career is beginning to haunt JP, so the penny might have dropped to be a team player rather than the misfit he is becoming. St Marco Posted 23 December, 2011 Share Posted 23 December, 2011 The thing is Puncheon is a good player. Was in the PFA team of the year twice if i remember (once with us). If he was like how he was in the first year then he is exactly what we need on the wing right now. But the problem is his mind. One day he could be a good lad and the next a total mong. Those days could cause problems which fracture the team spirit. Is it worth risking that? The other thing is Adkins himself. How does he get on with him? There have been a few times recently where players have shown a bit of lair towards Adkins i.e Lambert and Fox. Which leads me to believe he is a guy players can clash with if they don't share his footballing decisions. For someone like lambert to be subbed is obviously going to **** him off. But the point is that it isn't personal. An hour later they will probably be cool again. Is Puncheon the same? If he does not agree with Adkins will he let it go or will he throw his toys out the pram? From what we know of him it is deffinatly the latter. If he can sort his head out, say sorry to the team/manager and fans then i think he deserves a second chance. But he has to realise he has to earn his position in the team not have it simply because he is Puncheon. Meaning if he is dropped for some kid nobody has heard of then he has to take it on the chin and try harder. If he can accept all those things and concentrate on playing football then he could become a very good player for us. But if he can't then we need rid of him asap. No point having someone who thinks they are better then they really are. Especially if they can't be controlled by the manager.

sammysaint Posted 24 December, 2011 Share Posted 24 December, 2011 Personally i would give him another ago has shown he can be a decent back up player for mid table prem teams, it also gives us a chance to save money and if he doesnt work out in the summer we can sign a top winger, if were in the prem. Everyone has dissed his attidue but from twitter hes taken time out to speak to saints fans, IMO seems a decent bloke.
RobM Posted 24 December, 2011 Share Posted 24 December, 2011 I will never boo a Saints player, nor will I do anything negative towards them while playing for my team, I will support Saints players because they play for Saints. But I do not want JP back. Even if he apologises and starts playing well, I fear he is one good spell away from getting his ego and arrogance back and starting this cycle again. We have money, we're in a great position and we're a week away from the Jan transfer window. If we need to fill a position, this is the ideal time to do so. Can't see how he has shown anything in the Prem, played a few decent games for a relegated team, and done nothing with Rangers and clearly isn't needed by mid-table (at best) team. Could be the worst thing to have around our dressing room, and NA has stated quite categorically that he will not play for us again. Can't see how anyone can come to a conclusion that he is a decent bloke based on Twitter, comes over as a complete knobhead if you ask me, but then most people come over as knobheads on Twitter. It really is just about the lowest form of communication these days, even teenager grunts are more expressive and intelligent.
