LeBenali Posted 21 December, 2011 Share Posted 21 December, 2011 Somebody behind me described Don Goodman as an ugly *banned word that Luis Suarez sort of allegedly used* before the Blackpool game a couple of weeks ago. I should have really reported it. Never got round to it though. True story.

Why is that the response everytime someone dares to question things like this? Don't agree with a black coffee being called a black coffee and call it coffee without milk? You must racist. John Boy Saint Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 Hmmmm how many of the jolly West Ham souls on the You Tube video filmed at brighton will be nicked. This has to be a Political Correctness flagwaving conviction, its football banter between 2 sets of fans, everyone knows its going to happen, yes some go over the top. Parents taking Children to a game know there is likely to be some choice language, and I am pretty certain that someone who turns up at a football who is homosexual is going to be fully aware that their is likely to be some refrence to the gay community spouted from someones mouth. When Brighton turn up it just gets more pronounced. So if someone has been done for chanting about peoples sexual leanings: how many Portsmouth fans obscenely gesturing and commenting in full view behind Saints players on national TV are going to get their collars felt by the OB??? Fan The Flames Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 The gay Brighton thing is pathetic, Brighton probably have as many gay fans as every other club, but that is beside the point; using homosexuality as a stick to beat people with is truly backward, it makes you sound like a 12 year old that cant get a girlfriend and frightened that big boys might think you are gay. Why are so many hetrosexual people scare of homosexuals.
saintbletch Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 I heard on the radio this morning that Spurs have warned their fans that stewards will be wearing head-mounted cameras ahead of tonight's game with Chelsea and will be on the lookout for racist or homophobic remarks/chants. I'm guessing we're in the middle of some sort of coordinated FA/PL clampdown.
Dan Johnson Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 I think its quiet prominent that even in 2011/2012 we don’t have any famous gay footballers… Max Clifford has mentioned recently that he advised two high-profile gay Premiership stars to keep their sexuality secret because football "remains in the dark ages, steeped in homophobia". There’s a fine line between banter and discrimination, just look at the abuse that Graeme Le Saux got from fans… and he wasn’t even gay! "I was like a bullied kid on his way to school to face his tormentors," Le Saux wrote in his autobiography. How many suicides has bullying led too? Where do you draw the line when it comes to “banter”? In my opinion it’s best to stamp it out altogether…

Joneth Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 That's because gay people dont play football and do theatre, hairdressing and beauty therapy instead isn't it? I know you're saying that sarcastically but to a large degree its probably true. I wonder how many potentially brilliant footballers the world has missed out on because individuals have turned to more gay friendly professions. If you're a gay bloke, why would you want to take all the abuse in football when you could just become a hairdresser or whatever and nobody would care less? corky morris Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 That is why football is so hypocritical though. The law of averages would suggest that a number of current players are gay. They wont come out though becuase of reprisals. My nipper trains up with Stoke's development centre & they have a player who is (allegedly) gay. He has (allegedly) previously been in a relationship with Will Young. Clearly cant prove any of it, but he has said he wont come out until all or most of the gay players playing professional football all come out at the same time. Why is the PFA not advocating this & encouraging all of them to come out together. IMHO people are less likely to abuse a gay player in the opposition if their own team has one too. If football wants to take this issue seriously then they need to follow the example set by the Welsh rugby player & man up & come out...........................
