All over bar the shouting...

"I know I am biased but you don’t see the vitriol in any other derby in this country that you do in this one." Take those South Coast tinted specs off my son, if you'd been to a West Ham Millwall, Brum Villa, or ManU Liverpool etc. game then you'd know that those levels of hatred are not exclusive to us.

Why couldn't this go on the post-match reaction thread? Does writing a blog from your armchair somehow make your views more important?

What a strange conclusion to reach. What have feelings of importance, (or presumably you meant self-importance) got to do with writing a blog and publishing it separately? These are still his opinions, carrying no additional weight just because they are in the form of a blog. I assume that George's intention was not to have it buried in a thread that is already several pages long and it also enables more of a personal slant into a deeper perspective.

I enjoyed reading it, as did others. Did you? Or are you just happy to criticise where it is posted rather than providing a critical appraisal of the content?

I agree. Sundays affair was fairly bland compared to some in the past. Compare that to the last West Ham v MIllwall game and it was like a church fete.

And compare those in turn to games in Brazil and Argentina where people are shot and killed every single Derby.

My personal view is to limit ticket sales for Pompey away to men only, ages 20-40. No women, no oldies with flasks of Bovril. We need a battlefield full of young men.

Thought bits of it were decent, but it contained nothing exceptional or of particular interest and no better analysis of the day than what plenty of others have happily put on the post-match thread. Just think some people certainly do love the attention of thinking their views are somehow more important than others. Even more strange when it was from soneome who watched it from their armchair. Apologies if that somehow offends some on here.

You know when you posted on the pompey thread about why were people still bothering, nothing would happen etc etc (Hours before their owner was arrested and the parent company stuck in administration)?

Stick this post in same "doh, i'm a fook up" pile

I'm not offended by having the blog as a separate thread and neither is anybody else so far, apart from you. So as far as I see, the OP's decision to post his blog as a separate thread is largely vindicated, unless you can gather some support for your view that it should have been buried in the matchday thread. I don't see the Mods complaining about it.

And for some reason, because he wasn't actually there in person, he is somehow not as qualified to express his opinions on the match as somebody who was there? Even though the close-up shots, action replays, slow motion, differing camera angles and pundits' assessments gave him a clearer view of what actually happened than somebody in a crowd some distance from the action.

My views ARE more important!

Seriously though, I just started a separate thread because stuff gets lost in the reaction threads. I would argue watching it from my armchair gave me a better overall perspective of the game than from one end of the ground though.....

I watched it at the ground and then again on telly. Does that make my views more important and a better overall perspective than yours?

Would say you'd have to be at the game to back up your point about the 'vitriol' and 'unbridled hatred'. Didn't feel that way from where I was.

that thread is full of blaggers who like to think they can analyse and predict what will happen to the skates, TOAST they all cried, and yet they are still going and drew with us on sunday, until they are actually punished i think Sour Mash's points were valid.

I don't have a problem with people commenting on a game that they watched on tv, some aspects you can follow better on the box, just there's nothing unique or exceptional about your experience or analysis of Sunday, don't see why you need to have your own thread apart from "look at my blog". Plenty of good, detailed posts from others on the post-match reaction thread, their posts might get "lost" as well, doesn't mean eaach one starts their own thread. Wouldn't particularly disagree about anything you wrote apart from the comparison to other derbys, yes ours is very intense, but as are plenty of others. Edited by Sour Mash

So you don't think that the Skates were punished by the points deduction, or the succession of increasingly comical owners who provide hours of endless amusement to us all? You don't think that it is valid to continue the Skate thread in light of the latest lot of owners being arrested for financial fraud on a monumental scale, the implications of that being that probably they will not be able to continue financing the running of the club beyond a few weeks?

OK. Suit yourself.

As for them drawing with us, we should not be so surprised, as they were playing their Cup Final at home, with a manager a bit more savvy than Cloterill and the second most expensive team in the division after Leicester. But of course, that is one of the main reasons why they will not be able to afford to keep going much longer with their low attendances and without the financing of the Russian Mafia.

I never said there was anything unique about it, generally people like me to post links to my blog posts so I do. Sorry if it offended you that I started a new thread.

I take the point about other derbies and I was being a little facetious, in that everyone only experiences the full hate of any derby if they support one of the teams.
