It was good where I was. Most of the home fans are on medication so maybe that got them out of the blue few sleep. Dont forget its thier Cup Final vs Saints and most turned up to see Lallana and Lambert. Skate support is poor and quiet for the season. You wont here much at that dump for the rest of the season.

We gave them more abuse from the coaches than we got! The place smells of **** and that affects your breathing down there!

-10 points and it will be very very quiet from the blue few....

Still seemed a little flat to me, but hey the whole game just seemed to lack something from past derby matches!

It had actually gained something, and that was the bubble. It will ensure all future derby games are as dull as dishwater.

So having some 12 year old pikey pr*ck spitting at you through a metal fence as you walk to the ground is supposed to improve the atmosphere at the ground somehow? I don't really see this link. I know having to go to St Mary's to get on the coach is a pain for a lot of people and the cost is a bit much etc. but I don't see how that stops anyone from singing when they get to the ground.

I think the atmosphere was a bit 'Rudi Skacel' if I'm honnest. People have been hyping this game up for about 6 months now, singing 'coming for you' about 20 times every game, talking about revenge for the last trip in '05 etc. etc. It was pretty good and the noise when we scored was deafening, it just didn't live up to the massive billing people have been giving it.

to those who say we werent loud our end i have to disagree, pretty good from where i was

Thanks for putting those up Rick, I wasn't there in the flesh but have total respect for those who did !

Whether they sang loudly or simply applauded, who gives a sh#t, you were there supporting the saints !

There were factors (ie. the bubble and lack of booze!) which no doubt kept the sound down a bit, but even on the crap telly coverage I could hear lots of chants from our end !

the atmosphere was better (from a saints fan view) at plymouth away last season.....that is from one of my good mates who was there on sunday

I was at both and not sure I'd agree with that. Atmosphere was good where we were and we never stopped singing but it was as edgy and nasty as I had hoped.

My 9yo nipper genuinely wondered what the fuss was about.

I was at Plymouth and was, unfortunately, sat in the home end (perhaps a bit like watching yesterday's game on the tele?).

There was only set of fans making noise and it was the Saints fans. However, as our goals meant we were vurtually promoted and Plymouth were definitely relegated, it's a bit hard to compare the two games.

I don't agree with that at all. Two totally different games and two totally different atmospheres. Plymouth away was a celebration but the actual atmosphere, although good, wasn't anything special. Yesterdays atmosphere is being blown out of proportion by those that didn't have the balls to go themselves so instead watched on the telly and gave it the biggy to a big screen in Varsity. Well every one of you's who wants to diss our support that actually went can f*** right off. It was a derby, it was tense and it showed, on both sides. When we scored it f*****g erupted and was immense. Not that we only sang when we were winning, because we sang the whole way through, but I think the occasion got to the atmosphere as both sets of fans certainly were feeling the pressure.

obviously those who watched on telly have bigger and better voices than us that went

It was hard to hear the Saints fans during the game, but that was surely more to do with the way the microphones were set up around the ground... At the end of the game, during the post-mortem analysis the remaining Saints fans were obviously singing loudly non-stop, but it sounded very distant considering the commentary box was relatively near.
