JackanorySFC Posted 18 December, 2011 Author Share Posted 18 December, 2011 I personally enjoyed the roar when we came out to warm up. Cork commented it on his twitter saying was an amazing feeling. Missed that to be fair, was busy drinking cans bought from a SO postcode so not to spend a penny in their yard! Was slightly lairier than the south stand at Bournemouth last season but worth it, watching the replay guly clearly bottled it and don't deserve to wear the shirt again, disgusting! Pleased to be there bus jealous I couldn't be in a covered milton end for a change! Will lay serious £££ on them not selling out a bubble trip to ours in April! Chez Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 about 50 either side with a few empty seats in their corners as well. Great having the whole end. Our away support has been good this season and we deserved those extra tickets.

What you say makes little sense.he did what he had to do to watch the game. Actually going to games is what being a supporter is all about. I have to tip my hat at anyone that sits in the South stand upper. Some wonderfully charming chaps in that part of the ground. I've watched Brum sat on my hands there myself. Personally going to these Derby games are what watching football is all about. The buzz of the two games are almost worth the rest of my season ticket put together. Simply do not understand why every Saint does not do everything in their power to be at them. They are on a different level. lordswoodsaints Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 I was sat in the north stand upper amongst the unwashed and inbred and I have to say I agree with the op,you lot were shocking. I can only guess that 'the bubble' did its job and cleansed the passion and fury from you lot. The whole experience sterilised the atmosphere IMO that is why I chose to sit in with the skates,I don't like to be dictated to by the old bill and branded a criminal in advance. dune Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 I was towards the right too. I don't understand, like i've said, we've been louder for Leyton Orient away. After we scored it was good yes, but you'd expect that. A factor for our poor support, and apologies I just watched it on tv and it looked very "family stand", was IMO the way tickets were sold. A fair proportion of our usual away support is made up of fans that are not local, but because of having to pick up bus tickets (i know that changed at the last minute) didn't go. Because of this I think there were proportionally more St Marys fans - probably from the Kingsland/Itchen centre and the Chapel.

Macey_J2 Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 Thoroughly disappointed with our support today. Why is it people weren't getting behind the team for POMPEY? We've been louder at Leyton Orient for f*cks sake. Too many blanket and flask types. I have to agree with the above. We were about 4 blocks from the left end of the milton. I had a mother and daughter right infront of me and two women in their late 50s/60's directly behind us. I was suprised to see so many women when we arrived, and tbh dissapointed because in my experience, most (not all) women dont make alot of noise. I'm not exaggerating when i say the only noise i heard from the four was a gasp of worry when pompey were in our penalty area. In fairness to them, there were also alot of men that didnt cheer or sing for large parts, contributing nothing to the atmosphere, apart from filling a space. I was trying to keep the (positive) noises coming loud and frequently, but it wasn't easy to get alot of people sat in the blocks around us chanting. I found this frustrating. Personally, i thought Guly should have come off at half time, and was annoyed De Ridder and/or Holmes werent allowed to run at them when we had them on the back foot in the second half, but i tried not to let him know this as he needed all the support he could get, and cheered him on when he actually did something half decent. Fair enough, alot of different people go to alot of away matches, but for this one match, where 90% of the crowd hate our team, call them whatever with the crowd in such close proximity to the pitch, throw the ball away from them in throw in situations etc, our away support needed to be rammed with people that do not stop singing and chanting to encourage and support our players. It doesnt matter if your young, old, male or female, just make some ****ing noise to support our team. If your not going to make any supportive noises, you as good as an empty seat. Do you not understand? Going to the game and sitting in the away end means giving money to the skates (not great) but in exchange for that we get a chance to cheer the team and help them to victory. Going to the game and sitting in the home end means giving money to the skates with absolutely nothing in exchange other than the fact that you have to sit with those inbred pikeys for an extended period. You should have watched the game on television and not lined the skates pockets for no reason. The fact you then want to criticise after having sat with them for a while and paid them for the privilege means that your opinion holds little weight I'm afraid. adrian lord Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 The BBC mic placement was favourable to Pompey. Nevertheless, the Saints end was not the seething, broiling 3000 + one would have hoped for. The bubble, early kick-off, limited or no booze, and ticketing were all cumulative factors eroding the passion.

Thankfully they didn't apply allowing a few more deserving fans a ticket...hopefully. The fact remains a large percentage of regular away fans are women, and senior fans - so not point moaning about them when they go to Fratton.
