JackanorySFC Posted 18 December, 2011 Author Share Posted 18 December, 2011 were you in the South stand? Very brave. The Saints fans on the right hand side seemed to be more loons than flask carriers. Yep, south stand - at least 20 empty seats around us as clearly skates couldn't sell out. Look, I've never missed a Fratton game but compared with around me we seemed quiet *****il we scored), typical skates, when things on top they love it but behind they are scared pussys in my experience! Deserved the win today but though our support should have been more loony (the 80% flask carriers, not the flare letting off lads on black) that's all. Saying that them at ours is always shocking.... JackanorySFC Posted 18 December, 2011 Author Share Posted 18 December, 2011 I have no idea what JackanorySFC is talking about....can someone please translate for me??!! I was sat 30 metres away and thought our support was 80% old men and birds in scarfs and 20% loons up for making noise and letting off flares. Bit like them at ours in hindsight. Is that ok with you? Sorry if I didn't spell that out earlier.
hypochondriac Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 Clown. Love saints. Brought up to hate the skates and never missed a game there. What has that got to do with anything? Not sure about anyone else, but if it was a choice between sitting in the home end or watching it at the pub I know what I would choose. I couldn't stomach it and I'm pretty sure most saints fans would feel the same way. You're a proper saints lad though because you didn't watch it at the pub with mongs. Lol. Look, I was there and they were loud (no louder than us at SMS though) but we were just as quiet as them at ours? The home fans sounded very quiet from where I was. I imagine it was where you were stood/sat. Genuinely don't know why? Was surrounded by skates "scumming" but after we scored they Were gutted and way way worse than us against them in the cup. Thought you might like to hear an unbiased view of the atmosPhere but clearly you dont give a s***. It's only a view of the atmosphere from someone sat in the home end. It means nothing. Up the saints that were there, bubble or no bubble! I'll never miss a game at Fratton - SFC no surrender! Up the saints who were in the away end and sang proudly. To all the saints fans who paid money to the skates to sit quietly in the home end and provide nothing towards the atmosphere I say you are idiots. hypochondriac Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 From a TV viewers perspective our support was very "family stand". Please don't call me names, i'm just saying it how I saw it. Just watched it on TV and it gives an extremely distorted view of the reality.

To all the saints fans who paid money to the skates to sit quietly in the home end and provide nothing towards the atmosphere I say you are idiots. You do realise Pompey got money for the away tickets sold as well...? No problem with Saints fans sitting in the home end if it's their only way of getting a ticket. Done it myself at a few London games but don't think I'd fancy it at Pompey I must admit!
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 It is a shame Jackanory that you didn't bother applying for a ticket in the away end. Not only could you have come and levied the charge of being an apparent homophobe to my face, but also you could have lorded it about the place directing people in how to support their club. I said to all those who paid the skates money and then sat in their home and and contributed nothing to the atmosphere. London games are utterly different. By all means sit in the home end at some games but this is the derby game. It's completely different.

BEING IN AN AWAY END GIVES A DISTORTED VIEW OF THE GAME FFS Look, I genuinely don't think you realise this but I've never missed a derby game since 87, not sure about you ? Just thought I'd add from the home end our support was 80% boring, 20% quality, which is 20% than them ***s at ours (Inc eng v mac in wc qlfy), breath, read the posts and calm down before waving your arms left and right only for your mate thorpie to spit anti gay abuse in your face! Look, I genuinely don't think you realise this but I've never missed a derby game since 87, not sure about you ? What has that got to do with anything? Chez Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 (edited) I honestly didn't hear the ****ing bell once during the game yet on TV that's all you could hear. Our away support does have a large percentage of ladies and older generation. I've been to many a northern game and if it wasn't for them there'd only be a few hundred there. That's just the way it is. Not scary, often not all that loud, but they are Saints. There were plenty of lads today though on the right hand side. Does it really matter though? Have to say I do like the hostility of the crowd. It creates a good atmosphere...when we come to town anyway. Boy do they ****ing hate us. The abuse of Saints players taking throw ins and corners right through the game really worked in 2005, less so today. But it can get into players heads if they are not right on their game and maybe our fans could do a bit more of that. This is the sort if thing jackanory might be talking about. We possibly have too many polite fans down the middle of our ground. Come the return leg let's get into their heads... shurlock Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 The right side was very good - some right weirdos in the north stand e.g. the one with the pink rucksack Deadwood in the middle stopped things spreading across the whole stand. Doesn't help that the OWTS is one of the only songs that lasts more than a few bars and gives others time to join in.
