Channon1976 Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 Sorry if it's already been posted but does anyone know how close Chaplow us to coming back - I don't think it's a coincidence that we haven't picked up as many points we could have since he's been out
CWD Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 He is hopeful to be back for Palace. Fingers crossed!
S-Clarke Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 Should be back in the squad for Boxing day. I'd expect he'll be a sub though.
ManorHouseSaint Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 I agree. I think the same with Connolly. We miss his intelligence and movement. Lallana in particularly misses that movement off the ball.
beatlesaint Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 As per J Sibley's tweet Connolly is very close (in other words back for Palace), Chaplow is training (ditto Palace) and Barnard is out for 2 months
London Saint Posted 19 December, 2011 Share Posted 19 December, 2011 Definitely need Chappers energy, drive and commitment. He sets a good example on the pitch for the rest of the team and I agree we dont look as strong when is not playing...
Leicestersaint Posted 19 December, 2011 Share Posted 19 December, 2011 Looking forward to Chaplow coming back - hopefully he will be his oldself and give the whole team more bite and change of pace. Also looking forward to Connolly's return.

Wes Tender Posted 19 December, 2011 Share Posted 19 December, 2011 Personally, I actually believe that had Chappers been fit enough to play against the Skates yesterday, we would have won that match.

Genk Posted 19 December, 2011 Share Posted 19 December, 2011 I think he will probably be looking at Brighton away for his comeback game. He tweeted yesterday before the game 'I've joined in the warm ups with the lads this wk but can't fully kick a ball yet due to the ligament still on the mend!Running is cool tho'. Dr Who? Posted 19 December, 2011 Share Posted 19 December, 2011 I agree. I think if we defended that corner better, and took the 3 chances just before that, we would have won yesterday. Should not rush him back, but looked ok in training last week, with his movement and running, just not match fit... whatever that means!!

So match fit could mean, being able to kick the ball without pain....so I am match fit then brilliant!!

You could say that for other matches he's missed too! He was on good form before his injury, it was noticable that no one else could add the drive and energy that he brings to the team. Chez Posted 19 December, 2011 Share Posted 19 December, 2011 Our dip in form has certainly coincided with his absence, the shear fact we don't get the ball back as often or as quickly without him has meant we have not been been able to exploit our patient passing game. But Lallana's injury has also been factor, up until yesterday he has been off the pace and defensively a weak link. He looked much improved and perhaps his foot problem has been overcome?
