How was the 'Bubble'?

Apologies if this is being covered on another thread, but if so I couldn't find it, I was just wondering how our travelling fans found the policing tactics etc today. Were the police stopping drunk people getting on the coaches? Were the travel club coaches as dull as usual or was their a bit of fun for once? And did the Pompey fans try to break the bubble at all?

Sounds ok then, seems like the day was relatively trouble-free, compared to our previous visits there. Presumably it's a lot easier for police to escort coaches to the ground (I nearly wrote stadium until I remembered which cess pit I was writing about!) on time than fans on foot from the train station. Nice to see our skint friends have actually got round to putting a roof on their away end too!

A slick process (on the day) by the police/stewards. Being on the bus was a bit of a laugh, especially when rolling through Pompey. It worked excellently in terms of keeping the sets of fans apart before and after, just a shame that it makes you feel like a criminal, being constantly surrounded by police. Not to mention the amount of cameras that filmed us.

Thought it was a very slick run operation once we finally got going. Can still see why people who have to travel miles are against it, and the ticket office could have made it easier if they just posted the bloody tickets out, but that aside well done to Hants police.

We had to have our names ticked off on a list when getting on the bus for both legs. The list of passengers was not in alphabetical order which was crazy, and 2 people sat in our seats on the way back which meant i couldn't sit

next to my 9 yr old - minor blips.

According to the BBC South news the 'bubble' operation seems to have been a outstanding success, with only one arrest (for the flare) and a pleasing lack of rioting among PFC's over excitable fanbase. Like it or not, this operation will surely become standard practice from now on I'd have thought.

The pictures did show however some local parents hurling hateful abuse at our bus convoy while cradling little babies in their hands - displaying all the class we have come to expect from our fishy friends.

Thought it was very well run. There did seem to be a bit of a holdup before leaving, which made us a bit anxious, but had we realised that we would have an escort the whole way, including jumping every red light, I wouldnt have minded. Took about an hour from "door to door". Going back was even better, couldnt believe how quick it all happened, was expecting to sit there for at least an hour.

All in all, a great success. (but £18 for that, seriously?)

Worked perfectly in terms of ease of getting in/out Portsmouth, much smoother than the last two trips on SWT! Will still argue the toss that £12 was too much, but other than that no complaints - probably helped by the fact that after the aforementioned train hassle, I was gonna get the coach/bus anyway.

TBF I don't think you could have predicted how easily it actually was. We were quickly in and out with no holdups.

... or they could at the very least now concede that it was a good plan executed well. I doubt it though, I'm sure they'll slip off quietly into the darkness, awaiting the next "drama" to unfold, returning once more to offer their pearls of wisdom.

Well done the police btw.

I do think some of it was over the top though. Quite a few of the police were just hanging about not doing anything and things like the helicopter were just pointless.

Worked OK, only drawback apart from those inconvenienced by the extra travel was people having to p!ss in a bottle and empty it out the window.

One of the guys on bus 29 did this on the way into Skatesmouth and managed to pour it over one of those runners in lycra. Pretty rank but rather amusing.

Quite why they couldn't go an hour without having a **** though was beyond me...

Overall I thought the bubble took the edge off the away trip and made the whole thing feel safer and thus more muted.

I was on bus 30 and saw the bottle of pee being lobbed at the jogger from bus 29, had to admit it was funny at the time, albeit not for him obviously. Shame it hadn't been lobbed at some of the mongs hanging out of their front doors near the ground giving the usual signs.
