Saint_Randell Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Who did BBC give it to? No-one really deserved it tbh, I would go for Lambert, constant threat for the whole game. Lallana would probably be up there.
S-Clarke Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Joel Ward got the MOTM I believe, quite simply just because he equalized. My MOTM is Lambo, followed by Deano who showed a real desire.
S-Clarke Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 I think the fact that there doesn't seem to be a stand out winner shows that we played well as a team today, quite easily our best away display in a while.
sambosa75 Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Lallana? You have to be joking to give him a mention. Some nice little dribbles but time and time again he slowed down our attacks and didn't pass it quickly enough. It's no good dribbling the ball past someone if you are going to let them get back in to position afterwards. He kept doing it all game. I'd go for Cork or Hooiveld.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Can't disagree with any above really. I know Guly's getting stick for the corner, but if Fox was still on would he have been marking that post instead?

Haha, you clearly know nothing about football.
niceandfriendly Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Lallana played brilliantly today. Did I really just read someone saying otherwise?

Roger Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Lallana played brilliantly today. Did I really just read someone saying otherwise? Played well but should have shot when through
St Matty Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Lallana played brilliantly today. Did I really just read someone saying otherwise? You did , strange view from a fan to criticise our most talented creative player..
sambosa75 Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Haha, you clearly know nothing about football. So what did Lallana contribute today apart from a few neat turns and runs that went nowhere? All he did time and time again was go past his man, and then let them get back in to position. Exactly like Fabrice Fernandes use to do.
FreemantleSaint Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Lambert did the business again, Lallana was pretty dangerous, all the other midfielders did well too, but I thought Hooiveld was a rock today so he gets my vote.
sambosa75 Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 You did , strange view from a fan to criticise our most talented creative player.. He is, I totally agree and rate him as much as the next Saints fan but today was not his best day. He slowed our attacks down time and again.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Hooiveld was brilliant all game. Dominant, assured, and great decision making.
CWD Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Hooiveld was brilliant all game. Dominant' date=' assured, and great decision making.[/quote'] Yep, closely followed by Fonte
vindaloo Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 w@nkers slating lallana. what a bunch of mongs. cork, hooiv, hamm and lambo fair play to you all
RobM Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 He is, I totally agree and rate him as much as the next Saints fan but today was not his best day. He slowed our attacks down time and again. You see it as slowing down our attacks, I see it as bringing others into the game. Lallana was always a trick and a few yards ahead of the opposition which give him time and space to bring others into it. Once or twice he should have had a shot, the rest of the time he was spot-on in controlling play. MOM goes to Jos today, IMO. Such a composed game and linked up well with midfield. Not spectacular, but vitally important.
View From The Top Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Five folk in the car driving north and our MOM are 2 x Hammond, 1 x Jos, 1 x Cork 1 x Lambert.
swannymere Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 I thought it was between Thorne for them and Jos for us.
Avenue Saint Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 toss up between jos, adam and lambert! mentions for cork, morgan and hammond too. no lack of drive and effort. unlucky today...
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 It certainly wasn't Harding. ***:...
madruss Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Hammond for me, quality spirited performance. Him and cork ran the midfield, jos a close second
Ashley Grute Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Deano, Jos, Rickie, Cork and Lallana were all really great- Jos probably pipped it for me
Saint_clark Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Thought the two full-backs were superb today.
carljack Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Cork for the engine and passion, Adam for the sheer quality especially when he went past three Skates out on the Left.
Saints foreva Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Thought the two full-backs were superb today. Especially Richardson in my opinion. Been so surprised with him this season, honestly thought we needed a new RB in Summer.
jimbojones10 Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 our best player today by a mile was deano
harwellsaint Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 lambert must be proper fooked tonite, he put in an incredible shift
ulstersaint Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Hooiveld was brilliant all game. Dominant' date=' assured, and great decision making.[/quote'] Spot on.
Lighthouse Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Hooiveld won everything that came his way. Fonte had a few moments and didn't quite look so good. Hammond, Richardson and Lambert also looked particularly good IMO.
SNSUN Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Hooiveld gets my nod today, I thought he was very solid and even the commentators sounded impressed. Honourable mention to Lambert.
Lighthouse Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 I thought Cork, Hooiveld, Lallana and Lambert were all excellent and could have been man of the match. Definitely no pompey player, given how saints controlled the second half. MOTM for a late header seems a bit mental. Aren't these things all to do with club sponsors though? As such a home player always wins it because none of the Pompey fans will care about the ACME Man of the Match award for a Saints player.
Legod Third Coming Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 So what did Lallana contribute today apart from a few neat turns and runs that went nowhere? All he did time and time again was go past his man, and then let them get back in to position. Exactly like Fabrice Fernandes use to do. Did you turn your TV on at all?
S-Clarke Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 I don't get the criticism of Lallana, he was a real spark in our attack today. The problem with him at the mo is that it's not quite happening in the final third, he's not making the right calls as he was at the start and he's lost the confidence to have a pop at goal for some reason, but he's still a joy to watch on the ball.
forever a red and white Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Not suprised Lallana has split opinion. At times he showed real glimpses of his quality, great ability to beat his man, great vision but one again his end product let him down. Having said that, he is slowly returning to the form he showed at the start of the season. He is our David Silva, when he plays well the team plays well and the opposite when he is les involved. MOTM? Would have to say Jos or Rickie. Thought Jos won almost everyhting, gave Kitson some proper hard challenges and displayed a real dominance and passion for the cause, was fantastic to see. Lambert was again outstanding I thought, great hold-up play and just wish we got the ball into the box more for him from out wide because he was always a threat and nobody could really deal with him. Another goal against the Skates I love this man. Richardson also had a very good game. Hammond very decent second half.
krissyboy31 Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Lallana for me, gave their full-back a torrid time all game. Richardson was a close second and the midfield 3, Jos and Lambert all deserve a mention.
Roger Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Lallana for me, gave their full-back a torrid time all game. Richardson was a close second and the midfield 3, Jos and Lambert all deserve a mention. Lallana was not better than lambert? Footy is about end product. That's what Matt le tiss had.
LGTL Posted 18 December, 2011 Posted 18 December, 2011 Jos was superb today, that ginge didn't get a kick. Mentions to Hammond, Cork (who had a right rough time of it first half) and Lambert.
Wade Garrett Posted 19 December, 2011 Posted 19 December, 2011 I thought there were a lot of decent performances. Difficult to single any one person out. Thought Hammond and Cork were superb in the middle. I'll go for Cork. As an aside, I hope we get Billy Sharp in January.
dubai_phil Posted 19 December, 2011 Posted 19 December, 2011 We get a different commentator to you lot with the Beeb, but the same pictures (and krap crowd mikes) Our 'tater gave it to Hammond, and would have to agree with him. Agree with both sides of the Lallana argument, he held the ball up well and brought players in, but he did also on occassions appear to make the wrong choice when he could have moved the ball on quicker. That said, his run down the left in the 1st half brought a few cheers from the massive down the pub.
