I think the fact that there doesn't seem to be a stand out winner shows that we played well as a team today, quite easily our best away display in a while.

Lallana? You have to be joking to give him a mention. Some nice little dribbles but time and time again he slowed down our attacks and didn't pass it quickly enough. It's no good dribbling the ball past someone if you are going to let them get back in to position afterwards. He kept doing it all game.

I'd go for Cork or Hooiveld.

Haha, you clearly know nothing about football.

Agreed, Lalana was prem quality today - more skill than the whole pompey team together.

Lallana played brilliantly today. Did I really just read someone saying otherwise? :?

You did , strange view from a fan to criticise our most talented creative player..

So what did Lallana contribute today apart from a few neat turns and runs that went nowhere? All he did time and time again was go past his man, and then let them get back in to position. Exactly like Fabrice Fernandes use to do.

He is, I totally agree and rate him as much as the next Saints fan but today was not his best day. He slowed our attacks down time and again.

Hooiveld was brilliant all game. Dominant' date=' assured, and great decision making.[/quote']

Yep, closely followed by Fonte

You see it as slowing down our attacks, I see it as bringing others into the game. Lallana was always a trick and a few yards ahead of the opposition which give him time and space to bring others into it. Once or twice he should have had a shot, the rest of the time he was spot-on in controlling play.

MOM goes to Jos today, IMO. Such a composed game and linked up well with midfield. Not spectacular, but vitally important.

It certainly wasn't Harding. ***:...

Hooiveld gets my nod today, I thought he was very solid and even the commentators sounded impressed. Honourable mention to Lambert.

I thought Cork, Hooiveld, Lallana and Lambert were all excellent and could have been man of the match. Definitely no pompey player, given how saints controlled the second half. MOTM for a late header seems a bit mental.

Aren't these things all to do with club sponsors though? As such a home player always wins it because none of the Pompey fans will care about the ACME Man of the Match award for a Saints player.

Did you turn your TV on at all?

I don't get the criticism of Lallana, he was a real spark in our attack today. The problem with him at the mo is that it's not quite happening in the final third, he's not making the right calls as he was at the start and he's lost the confidence to have a pop at goal for some reason, but he's still a joy to watch on the ball.

Not suprised Lallana has split opinion. At times he showed real glimpses of his quality, great ability to beat his man, great vision but one again his end product let him down. Having said that, he is slowly returning to the form he showed at the start of the season. He is our David Silva, when he plays well the team plays well and the opposite when he is les involved.

MOTM? Would have to say Jos or Rickie. Thought Jos won almost everyhting, gave Kitson some proper hard challenges and displayed a real dominance and passion for the cause, was fantastic to see. Lambert was again outstanding I thought, great hold-up play and just wish we got the ball into the box more for him from out wide because he was always a threat and nobody could really deal with him. Another goal against the Skates I love this man. Richardson also had a very good game. Hammond very decent second half.

Lallana for me, gave their full-back a torrid time all game. Richardson was a close second and the midfield 3, Jos and Lambert all deserve a mention.

Lallana was not better than lambert? Footy is about end product. That's what Matt le tiss had.

Jos was superb today, that ginge didn't get a kick. Mentions to Hammond, Cork (who had a right rough time of it first half) and Lambert.

I thought there were a lot of decent performances. Difficult to single any one person out. Thought Hammond and Cork were superb in the middle. I'll go for Cork.

As an aside, I hope we get Billy Sharp in January.

We get a different commentator to you lot with the Beeb, but the same pictures (and krap crowd mikes)

Our 'tater gave it to Hammond, and would have to agree with him.

Agree with both sides of the Lallana argument, he held the ball up well and brought players in, but he did also on occassions appear to make the wrong choice when he could have moved the ball on quicker.

That said, his run down the left in the 1st half brought a few cheers from the massive down the pub.
