Yeah I've been a season ticket holder there for the last 5 seasons while Saints have been sh!t. Decided to return to St Mary's this season though because I had a feeling the mighty saints would finish above them this time round. coyr.

One of the non-Derby games attended was to "support" Danny Wallace in his début for Man.Utd, didn't go down well with locals (BTW - player stats nerds, I think I recall was also Paul Inces's debut for Utd). Remember Colin Clark getting a couple one year.

100% win record !!

Are you going Sunday? ;-)

This is my 3rd or 4th trip - plus once as a nipper to watch an England U21 International.

Been to the last two there which we've lost, so we're due a 'third time lucky' result Sunday!
Likewise.

Cannot begin to explain to those who weren't there what that 4-1 felt like.

4 times for me. 1987 I believe, league match 2-2 sat in stands with my dad and being told by dad to keep quiet as we were in with the blue few, although my childhood holidays used to be with relatives who lived 10 minutes walk from their ground. A couple of mixed supported families were sat with us. Twice in Fratton end to see them against Cambridge Utd with my second cousin and once with cousin who's a true blue, and once in family stand terrace. I still don't believe how I ended up not being a skate, although back then for me it was an activity to do when holidaying down there as a youngster - cheap to get in, pay on the day - and not always fun going to Canoe Lake and the seafront everyday. Used to buy saints bits and bobs from the football shop in the tricorn and wear my cloth saints hat through the precinct. Get called a scummer by my relatives - even my dear old aunt who's 80 - but all good natured. Holidaying down there when growing up, however did open my eyes up to the general feral nature of the kids down there, who were always willing to fight - me living in posh Winchester.

Twice 1963 when we won 3-0 Paine, Chivers, Sydenham and following year ON MY BIRTHDAY 5th Feb when we thrashed them 5-2 with Norman Dean hatrick and Chivers two. What a birthday present that was !!!

Twice before watching Saints lose (1-0, 4-1)

Also randomly in the away end for some hilarious games:

Pompey 1-4 Orient (FA Cup. The one when their Japanese keeper had a shocker)

Pompey 1-2 Tranmere (FA Cup. Last minute winner from a Dave Challinor long throw)

Pompey 2-4 Palace (Championship game near the end of the 00/01 season, both teams at the bottom, Pompey fans throwing shirts and season tickets on the pitch)

And one game when they beat Barnsley 3-0 with a Claridge hat trick. That wasn't so good.

The Norman dean hat-trick was in 66 and was my first ever away game. Following year we drew 2-2 in a friendly(??) arranged as both sides had a free saturday, not being in the FA Cup 5th rd. I also went in 74, 76, 84,04, and 05.

I also went and supported Sunderland in 76 in an evening game with a mackem mate and the following season after we had relegated them to Div 3, my cricket team had a match called off down there, so we went along and joined 50 or so Chesterfield fans in celebrating a 1-0 win.

Due to my family connections I have been there well over 50 times, mostly between the age of 3-7.

Fortunately my Dad also took me to a few games at the Dell, we only lived about 500 yds from there!

My uncle was a fanatical Saints fan and he saw to it my football education took the right line.

My first game at the Dell was in 1947, and I was hooked!

From then on my only interest in Fratton was when my father was playing.

I haven't been to Fratton Park, unless it involved the Saints since 1950.

1984 FA cup won 1-0

1988 League Drew 2-2

1995(?) Alan Knights testimonial won 5-1 i think.

2004 League lost 1-0

2005 League lost 4-1

Time for another win I think.

Alan Knight's testimonial

Last 2 league games there

Also as a neutral a couple of times in the away end (once while openly wearing a Saints shirt - I survived, just)

Gutted I won't be there on Sunday - need some closure on that 4-1 shame.

Twice so far. Alan Knight's testimonial, and england under 21 game. Now looking forward to the third on sunday to prove there really is only one team in 'Ampshire.

I've never even set foot in Portsmouth, let alone Fratton.

One time my GFs old man was having his 50th birthday dinner in a skate hotel and I had to fake a sudden illness to get out of it. Other than that I've found it fairly easy to avoid the sh!thole.
