Gambol2K9 Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 If the worst comes to worst and Bialkowski starts on sunday, can we ALL just get behind him. His confidence is going to be in shreds and another nervy performance from him will cost us the game I want to hear every fan chanting his name from the start and giving it all they can to boost the lads confidence at kick off. Anyone who boos or jeers him will simply act as Pompeys 12th man. Come on - let's get behind him!!
Nexstar Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 I can imagine not getting behind him would cross anybody's mind. Singing his name would probably only add to the pressure in his head. Hardly the easiest name to fit into a song, either. He'll probably have the game of his life.

ant Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 Didn't hear any booing or jeering from the Northam on Saturday, just piercing, deadly silence. In fact there was a lot of encouragement for Bart after his mistake (well, the biggest one). I have faith that even the most moronic quarters of our fanbase will get behind the whole team for this one.

LGTL Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 I'd play Kelvin even at 70% fit. If Bart plays we'll lose as I'd fully expect him to make mistakes. That's not getting on his back, just stating opinion as to how he'll react to Fratton Park.

It's not as if Davis even kicks the ball these days. Just roll it out to Fonte as usual and everything will be fine...
Golden Balls Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 Strange. Before last week I think most were confidant that we had a brilliant 2nd choice keeper. NA knows by now who will be playing I would have thought, and if it's Bart I get the impression NA will be preparing him well. He'll know what to expect. Plenty of abuse and plenty of low, hard shots. One thing is for sure, when Henderson is at our end we must get right on his back. Much like we did with that MK Dons keeper. Mowgli Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 Cue debate Monday - why did we play an unfit KD. Even Bart would have been better. Bart will be fine if called upon. Of that I have no doubt. Having said that, it's starting to look like KD will be fit to make his delayed 25th appearance for the club.

a1ex2001 Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 If he plays I will just cross my fingers and hope that he's pt last weekend behind him and moved on. He had shown genuine ability as a keeper before and I'm sure he will again, people are saying we will definately loose if he plays which is rather amusing given that he is unlikely to make such a costly blunder again and even when he did we still didn't loose to a side that are easily as good as pompey. fez Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 They got lucky last time that Blackpool seemed reluctant to shoot or cross the ball when winning. Quite. I was amazed (and mightily relieved) that Pool took so few shots from distance at a keeper whose confidence was clearly shot to bits. If Bart's in goal, the Skates might not be so reticent. 100%Red&White Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 Whoever's in goal is going to take a lot of sh*t from their end but we've got 3,000 behind the other so just make sure we give it to him. For the first time ever we've got a roof above us down the sh*thole (if the Thurs/Fri gales haven't peeled it off) so we can give it back a bit this time. No let up. SFC Forever Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 The sad thing is that De Ridder should have passed for us to hammer home the winner. Then Barts performance would not have had as big an impact on us or the team itself. We have the squad to beat Pompey but only if the other ten show up and play as they can. Ken Tone Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 However poor against Blackpool, we didn't win because we let them back in it with a very soft goal when we should have gone 2-0 up. Gave them hope and they came out to take the lead, even if undeserved. From then on our finishing was poor. So while a practical own goal doesn't help, it wasn't exactly a last minute howler when winning was it. If people would rather have a half fit Davis, then Bart's career here is over. But I have a feeling if Bart had played well and kept a clean sheet Saturday, people would be talking about him being no. 1. Either way, it's 1 game and daft to read that much into it. If Kelvin isn't fit and Bart plays, good luck to him. If after 4 or 5 games in the side he hasn't shown his ability then maybe we can write him off, but I'm uncomfortable about the reaction to one game. Especially when he's been good in the past. Maybe it'll help him having a week to prepare for this one, or not having that perfect home record to defend. Maybe just getting the worst error out his system will help. Or, perhaps he'll make more. It'll help if the defence don't give away plenty of chances. They got lucky last time that Blackpool seemed reluctant to shoot or cross the ball when winning. He didn't just make one mistake leading to a goal. He was **** poor throughout the game, which meant our defence lost confidence in him, avoiding pasing back when they should etc ..and his kicking when he had the ball was shockingly poor , so he gave possession away many times. His play affected the whole game. Having said that, if he is best we've got on Sunday of opurse we should back him, and he has played well in the past so maybe it'll be ok. Gambol2K9 Posted 15 December, 2011 Author Share Posted 15 December, 2011 I think Bart is a very good keeper, but pressure and lack of confidence is going to be a concern. Any other game and i think he'd bounce back fine, derby atmosphere can get to even the best players.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 Kelvin has to play Sunday, even if half fit.Anything else and were ****ed.......... We have to nurse Kelvin through the next 3 games and then get someone in on loan as cover for him.We have to face facts. We are going to be involved in some big games in the next few months. Saturday was not any where near the tension levels that'll come as we arrive nearer and nearer to may,yet Bard blow it. He blow it so bad that I'm afraid for all Adkins kind words, they're just that, words. He can not risk him again, until he's gone out on loan and shown it was a one off. Harsh, of course, but the prize is there for the taking and if you're not up to it, you're not up to it. It wasn't about one mistake, it was his overall performance. It was one of the worst displays I've seen from a Saints Keeper in 40 odd years, in a run of the mill home league game. Pip Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 So we'd rather risk losing Kelvin for a large chunk of the season by risking him when he's not fit just to avoid playing Bart in one game? Not sure I'd agree with that one even if it is against pompey.

VectisSaint Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 you do realise he was probably of roughly the same standard as Tommy Forecast don't you? Thats a terrible slur on NA. You do know that he played over 240 times for football league clubs (Wigan and Tranmere). TF has 4 league appaearances to his name so far. NA may not have been Premier League but to write off his playing career like this is scandalous.
