doddisalegend Posted 14 December, 2011 Share Posted 14 December, 2011 Just seen that Phil "the orange" Brown has been given the heave ho by Preston I assume if they're not already back our loanees will be on their way home. Considering our lack of strikers is Forte likely to get on the bench as impact player? (I know, I know he's crap shouldn't be anywhere near the team blah blah blah). Don't think he set the world alight at Preston did he?
Window Cleaner Posted 14 December, 2011 Share Posted 14 December, 2011 (edited) I don't know;Guess we'll find out on the build up video unless there are any photos on the OS of the team's hospital visit yesterday before that. Hoskins and Forte went to Preston for a month, that period has elapsed now so unless it's been extended they should be back with us. Forte played in 3 or 4 games with Preston I think Edited 14 December, 2011 by Window Cleaner

Noggin Posted 14 December, 2011 Share Posted 14 December, 2011 I personally dont think De Ridder is much better than Jonno Quick. Not sure what De Ridder has given us that Jonno didn't. But then again we signed Jonno from S****horpe and not some dutch outfit. Also Jonno didn't have a couple of youtube videos for us to splatter our load over. And to cap it off, if we all shout "Jonnnnnno" it wont give us as much stiffy's as shouting "Steeeeeeve"

Noggin Posted 14 December, 2011 Share Posted 14 December, 2011 Its just my opinion that De Ridder has not been much better than Jonno. has certainly not lived up to the over hyped expectations on this forum. Seems to have alot of pace but doesn't really know what to do with it, quite often tries to do too much and ends up tackling himself. Last min on Saturday being a classic example. I didnt say that Jonno was any better than him, just that he is not much worse and that peoples judgement may be clouded by the fact we only signed Jonno from S****horpe and also the fact that people don't realise how many times De Ridder loses the ball as they are too busy shouting his first name. De Ridder has made a decent impact in a fair few games this season off the bench, whilst Forte is quite simply one of the worst players I've ever seen. Which is sort of what i was saying on the transfer targets thread earlier on. To play for Saints now you have to be bloody good and consistently at that.We can find loads of players who appear to be good enough based on 1 game but on a consistent basis...not so much. disconnect Posted 14 December, 2011 Share Posted 14 December, 2011 Personally i'm not a fan of Forte, as he doesnt seem to have much skill, ability to hold up the ball or be particularly creative. Yes, De Ridder is pretty raw, and has a tendency to make poor decisions, but his skill is fairly obvious, he just looks a bit rushed on the ball sometimes, probably due to not being settled in the team and usually being used as an impact player to inject some pace and directness into the team near the end. I'd pick De Ridder over Forte every time, but would say both are decent options from the bench as at the moment we suffer from a bit of a lack of pace. Fonte also on 4,so we need to get through Xmas without any more. Not to mention your personal favourite. All these yellows are going to cost us with another 3 games before the amnesty. Can't see any of those 3 going 3 games without a yellow so we're going to have to hope Chappers is soon back to fitness and even then make do and mend a bit. To be honest the thought of Jos + Martin in CD against Bristol City gives me the shakes so it would be best if Fonte gets a yellow against Skate rather than Palace. De Ridder...don't really care and Morgan will always be a great loss in any game .

Crazy Diamond Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 The De Ridder thing is a mystery, it has to be said. Adkins initially said he hadn't settled in yet, but that was a while ago now. I'd never criticise a manager who has taken essentially someone else's team and taught them well enough to get a promotion and to the top of the table, but I would like to know why Adkins doesn't pick him more often. Then again, Adkins doesn't have to justify himself does he. We may never know.

hypochondriac Posted 18 December, 2011 Share Posted 18 December, 2011 you're a bell end! you big up de ridder coz in your words he's influential.... He has been in a number of away games. In fact, many are questioning why he did not play today. then we dont see him. In one game today he did not play. What has that got to do with other away games where he has been influential? you still havent even mentioned why he is so great. I never said he was 'great.' I think he has changed games when he has come on with his pace and direct running and I think he has won us points. I'm sure there are others who have been to away games and felt the same. Reading is one clear example. some other matey mentioned 2 games...in my eyes that isnt good enough in 20+ games so far this season. In my opinion, Steve has been decent in more than two games this season. He has played 15 games in total this season so your comment about 20+ games is rubbish. He has also been introduced in many of these games late in the game or as a substitute so full games I think he has played a very low number. It's actually quite difficult to establish yourself when you have a limited number of starts and considering that I think he has done well. hypo you are a mong. i dont bother posting usually coz i cant be f*cked to argue but you are a f*cking clown Why? Because I think De Ridder has done alright this season? Because I use the evidence of my own eyes from away games I have been to make my own assessments? Not sure why I'm even bothering with you because you are basically saying you are right based on the fact that de ridder did not play in one game. Tool.
