Pompey predictions

Unfortunately I am struggling to see anything other than a win for them. They've picked up a bit whereas we are in out worst run of form all season and have several injuries.

The optimist in me says 1-1, the realist says 2-1 to them.

This

3rd game in a row I can't watch/listen to.

Would be a lot more confident with Chappers in the side. Bart to do a Claus stare of terror as they come out on the pitch

I think this will define our season. We win and we'll get promotion. We lose and we'll crack and slide down the league. A draw and no real damage done.

To be fair, if we don't beat them we probably don't have the necessary determination and strength of character to deserve promotion anyway. This will be the Blue Few's cup Final (along with their trip to St Mary's in April). We HAVE to be up for it.

We're top of the league, but they're at home.

We'll be hurting from Saturday's result. They'll be confident after getting their 1st away win.

NA will have the lads well prepared and highly motivated (Especially if West Hame beat Barnsley to draw level on points)

Could be a cracker, and I think our "togetherness" will see us through.

1-2 to Saints.

Cant believe how negative some people are on here. Do they really support Saints or are they skates in disguise?

3-1 to Saints

What a ****ish comment...this is a forum where people are expressing how they think the result will go. We all want us to win but some of us are realistic given our away form, injuries and the fact thet the Skates are in decent form and tough at home.

I have been a fan since 1963 and travelled home, away and abroad and dont need anyone calling me a skate because I am concerned.

Why are there so many people saying why are there are so many people predicting a Saints defeat? I can only guess you are blinkered and cant see the wood for the trees. Look at form, look at recent results, yes we're top of the league - duh - but are you all saying we're playing the free flowing football that we played August thru to October, the football that got us to the top of the league? No chance are we. We're playing alright, creating chances at home but look at the last few aways, when did we last play that well? Coventry. Before that was a ropey draw at Reading, since then defeats against bottom 3 clubs.

Of course I want us to win, every Saints fan does. I just dont think we will. I reckon 1-1

I don't disagree, but what i think people are frustrated about is the need to guard against what happened in 05'. We don't want to lose this in our minds before the players walk on the pitch. Tough game yes. Saints win, i hope so. Get behind the players and outsing those ****s for 90 mins- it needs to be a ****ing certainty.

This. We need positivity not all these negative thoughts, thankfully Nige will be be putting the right vibes out and ensuring there is no repeat of the spineless '05 performance. If Bart plays he'll probably have a blinder, save a penalty and everyone will forget last week......

Saints 2v1

I think a lot will depend on the West Ham and other games. If we go into the game still top with 3 points clear then pressure will not be as bad.

But if we are joint top on gd then the pressure could become huge.

Our recent form is not great, our away form is dire. In theory this is the worst time to play them.

However i got a feeling Adkins will get it into them how important this game is. Lose it and our season could fall apart. Adkins knows a defeat here will get people on his back. A win however really could kick on our season. The confidence from it would be sky high. The main concern i have though is for the last 5 games we have turned more into a longball side. We don't want to play like that as it will suit them fine. They will be like other physical teams who we seem to struggle and run out of ideas against.

If we go back to our slick passing and moving we could rip them apart.

So i think we will show why we are top, best place to end our bad blip is at that ****hole, it will give everyone a boost.

1-3 to the mighty Saints

The pitch will be crap and Saints cant play hoof and shoot at all. Saints will pass, pass pass so with our away record and the fact Skates have won a few at home they will be favs, may be a 2-1 loss.

I am hoping for a few Skate players to be sent off and if we can get a draw then I will be very happy. You got to look at the away performances and the last Blackpool game which was awful. Saints have been very lucky at home but away you have to make your own luck and we are NOT attack minded nor Defensive savvy enough to not let stupid easy goals in.

The ice on the cake would be for the ground to catch fire after the game due to electrical fault, if so I dont care if we lose 10 nil.

Garbage that both have a striker we'd love to sign. Assuming we should go anywhere and win isn't that sensible in this league. Bristol City have been anything but garbage recently and Donnie have absolutely nothing to lose at home to the top clubs.

They are both rubbish sides and their league positions reflect that. Assume you weren't at the Doncaster game? They could barely string a pass together.

Against Bristol City and Doncaster we had most of the play and they defended like the away team, hitting us on the break in both matches. I don't think Pompey's crowd will allow them to do that and they'll have to attck. That should suit us and allow us to create more opportunities. If NA has got the psychological preparations right I can't see us losing. I'd take a draw now but believe we can win 2 - 1.

With their disciplinary record, we need to get our passing game going early on frustrate them & the crowd. I can see them having at least 1 sent off & a comfortable 3-1 win for the mighty Saints. Been nervous coming up to this with our away form decidedly dodgy, but a strange calm has come over me today, all nerves have gone & I expect absolution/retribution & justice for 2005 on Sunday. Stand tall, stand strong & our skill will eventually tell.

Portsmouth 1 - 3 Southampton (Hammond 33, Lambert 70, Barnard 90+2).

COYR...

It always amuses me when people not only predict the goalscorers, but also give the time of the goal too.

Having said that, is anyone aware of somebody ever guessing correctly the goalscorer AND the time that he scored?
