It would seem that commercial salvage work is now being undertaken on the wrecks of three Royal Navy cruisers that were sunk by a U Boat (with a heavy loss of life) during WWI, and there's absolutely nothing we can now do to stop it:

1459 were lost, mostly reservists and cadets. The ships were so outclassed by the Germans they were called the 'livebait squadron'.

 

Why on earth were these wrecks ever sold ?
