Should be a good evening against last season's finalists, lots of very promising players in Jason Dodd's under 18 squad.

Pay on the turnstile, unreserved seating in the Itchen stand.

£5 for adults

£3 for concessions

I may, but depends how long it takes to get home when I leave in a min. The Basingstoke to Southampton drive has been taking an hour and a half in the evenings recently!

I see you MLG offering a match report then withdrawing with a cheeky edit.

I just got FM2012 on the iPhone... where the fook is all the Chamberlain £££ I was looking forward to spending???

How much do you have? How much were you expecting?

Hahaha taking this thread off rails a bit, on starting the game I've got £325K we're like £100K over the wage budget.

Where's all the money gone NC??? Lowe out!

Any news on whether the official site is offering twitter commentary or anything on Saints Player? This should be a good game - Sheffield United were in last years final and looked ok although they have had to sell their promising striker (Jordan Slew) to Blackburn.

Well that certainly isn't how I set it in the database, nor how it is in the PC/Mac version.

I imagine there will be limited Twitter coverage and brief highlights on Saints Player soon after.

Guess it's a glitch or something then. It's all good though, Peterborough are buying Forte for £1m

No, I have the same things. 325k transfer budget in both career and challenge modes. Was a little puzzled by it!

Saints U18s: Steve Mowthorpe; Luke Shaw, Jack Stephens, Jordan Turnbull, Matt Young ©; Sam McQueen, Corby Moore, James Ward-Prowse, Calum Chambers; Joe Curtis; Jake Sinclair. Subs: Chris Johns, Conor O'Sullivan, Harrison Reed, Fraser Colmer, Domininc Gape.

Official Saints Twitter feed is updating too. Sounds like a tidy performance, wish I'd made the extra bit of effort and gone across now, even if it is bloody horrible out there.

wow, that's a pretty impressive result to say the least! Sheffield Uniteds academy is highly rated and has produced some decent players over the years...

Just got back. Weather horrendous, swirling wind and torrential rain. SFC were a class above Blades. No Saint had poor match. Good team effort, could tell used to playing together regularily. Ward-Prowse generalled midfield, and was probably my MOTM. His goal was also cracking shot from about 25 yards. All in all good performance.

Just got back, had to walk so got soaked.

What an amazing performance that was! All those that didn't go missed a great game. Quality all throughout the side against a Sheffield United side that were finalists in this competition last season. Joe Curtis playing as a second striker was everywhere, Jake Sinclair with his pace caused panic all through the game, James Ward-Prowse and Corby Moore controlled the midfield and Ward-Prowse's goal was superb. I could list them all really.

Cortese's dream of 8 academy players in the first team XI in the Premier League may not be as unbelievable as it seems...! ;)

Dan Harding and Kelvin Davis were sat close to me and there were two scouts from Cardiff City sat behind me making notes throughout. Listening to their discussion they were extremely impressed with Saints, as you would expect really given the scoreline and one sided nature of the game.

Give us a full run-down on Jake Sinclair, MLG. How good could he be?

.....SEVEN-NIL ? ..!!!!!!!

.....How on earth did we let them get.. NIL ?

Nil is another way of saying zero, so they didn't get any goals at all (i.e. Southampton got 7 goals, but Sheffield United got 0).

Considering our vaunted youth system we don't have a very impressive record in the youth cup: one final in 50 years and never actually won it. Maybe this group can put that right!

What sort of crowd was in tonight?

Hard to tell with it being spread out over a few blocks in the Itchen Stand, was well into the hundreds. Mixture of family/friends of the players and Saints fans. Would be good if more started to come to these games if they progress further in the FA Youth Cup and play at St Mary's again.

Has many of the same qualities as his brother. He looks like he has a chance to be a decent Premier League player but always hard to accurately predict at that age.

MLG please can you do player ratings/comments?

Steve Mowthorpe - Didn't have a lot to do as you might expect in a 7-0 win. Made a few good saves with good handling on a very slippery surface.

Luke Shaw (Conor O'Sullivan 64) - Shaw posed an attacking threat from left back. Lots of width, pace and good technique. O'Sullivan did okay but didn't really shine.

Jack Stephens - Right footed centre back signed from Plymouth for £150k. Assured on the ball and made a few great runs from the back with the ball.

Jordan Turnbull - Left footed centre back, looked assured and comfortable on the ball. Scored from a corner.

Matt Young © (Fraser Colmer 73) A steady performance from the captain. Marshalled the team/defence well.

Sam McQueen - Left winger posed a threat all game, fullbacks found it hard to cope.

Corby Moore (Dominic Gape 73) - Along with Ward-Prowse Moore dominated the centre of the pitch, both look very good players. Gape didn't have a lot of time but did okay.

James Ward-Prowse - See above, plus his goal from distance was superb.

Calum Chambers - Right winger posed a threat all game, fullbacks found it hard to cope. Took his goal well.

Joe Curtis - Played behind Sinclair and dropped deep often to get the ball, creative player that covers a lot of ground. His goal was a little lucky as the keeper made a mess of it.

Jake Sinclair - Pacey small striker, always a threat when in behind the defence and took his goals well. Sometimes swapped with Curtis and the wingers.

MLG - Will you be updating the FM stats for the young guns?

Yes. for the January update.

I know its hard to predict. But what players do you see pushing for the 1st team over the next couple of years MLG?

You could make a good case for a large number of them. Sinclair, Stephens, Shaw, Ward-Prowse, Moore and Reed in particular, along with a number of others.
