Two essential improvements

We cannot complain of our current league position, however we do seem to be less invincible than earlier in the season.

 

So what is the ONE player signing that could make the difference, and why?

 

And what is the SINGLE most effective tactical improvement that, in your opinion, could make a difference?

 

Contribute one sentences each to describe two essential improvements that need to be addressed if we are to be promoted.

Mine are:

 

NEW PLAYER

We need to sign Maynard BECAUSE we are now relying too much on Lambert and lack a direct speedy striker, Maynard being the best available out there, imo.

 

TACTICS

Saints need to improve tackling/interception BECAUSE Blackpool and other teams are now enjoying too much possession and are stringing together long sequences of uninterrupted passing, one sequence of which led to Blackpool's first goal.

Teach the bloody defenders on the back post to look out for the opponent stealing in behind them instead of ball watching. Jutkaweicz because he could play with or without Lambert because Maynard would be daft not to see his contract run out in June and make a lot more money.

Sorry to add to the Bart hate gang but the ball was crossed into the 6yard box so where was our stationary keeper when headed in.

 

 

Snodgrass because we need a replacement for Hammond.

Push higher up the pitch because then we may stand and watch less.

Connolly and Chaplow fit.

Sign a quality left winger, with real pace and guile - not sure who.

 

Play Lallana as the supporting striker.

 

He scored plenty when played there a year or so ago.

 

That'll leave us still able to play Chappers on the right and benefit from his superb forward runs.

I would like to see us play at a higher tempo like we did at the start of the season when we were playing superbly.

The last few weeks we have played at a slower tempo and I dont think its coincidence we have gone off the boil since doing so.

assuming your defence is solid (not certain in our case) you should ALWAYS have the best strikers you can afford.

 

So buy the best striker we can get.

A quick striker is essential for us in January Maynard for me as has the pace that will help tactical for us to push their defence back. At the moment teams can push us up the pitch as we don't have the pitch to run past defenders with any pace.
