Nigel Happy with a Point.

If that's true he must be part of a very small minority. Personally, I don't believe him. I don't think what he said is true and it was just said to avoid being critical in public, at least I hope so.

A 4-match sequence of LWLD, 5 points from 12, (edit - that should read 4 from 12) must be worrying Nigel but his public statements don't show it. In a sense, thats OK, because its what influence he has on the players that matters, not what the fans think of him, but the fact is we are only top because West Ham have unexpectedly lost 2 games they should have won, and we can't claim any credit for that.

Adkins has rightly pointed out injuries, Chaplow for a run of games by the look of it, Rickie for one game, Kelvin, hopefully just for one game, but on the other hand, Nigel has always said its not about the eleven, its about the squad. Now he says its about the injuries. If thats right we need some new blood in the first 11 and in the squad, two or three players of genuinely higher quality who can carry through to next season.

The pack is getting closer and there are some tough games in the New Year. Whatever Nigel says to us in interviews, I hope he is really angry about 2 dropped points and about the team's poor performances away from home.

At 2-1 own in the 93rd minute I'm also happy with a point....even though is SDR had picked the pass after that we'd have won. The season is about 46 games, not 1 (or even 4). We're simply not going to win every single game we play, whether you like it or not. We've had a 4 game 'blip'(?) where we've taken 4 points out of 12, and we're 3 points clear of 2nd and 5 from 3rd (plus GD). Yesterday we drew because we only converted 2 of our 20 efforts on goal, Bart threw one in, and the ref failed to see a blatant penalty (I also thought their first goal was offside but would need to see it again).

Don't get too excited by the great results, and don't get too depressed about the poor results. Maybe you need to get a little bit of perspective on how far we've come in 12 months. It's hardly the end of the world.....

'' Only drop because West Ham have lost two games they should have won?''

Sorry, total ******. We are top because over 21 games we have accumulated the most points. End off. The fact that WHU have ;ost two on teh bounce shows that ALL sides will have bad spells and all sides will find they drop points when not expected to do so... surely its what keeps the game interesting?

I have no doubt that Nige would have looked at the last 4 games when he had a full fit squad and gne thats 8-8 minimum expected return, but with key players out and a dip, the fact we are still top is ecause over 21 games overs have had these momenets too, and we made hay while the sun shined - Made sure we GOT the points when we we had the chance.

What is important now is quite simple: we need everyone fit and to rediscover the form we showed over the first 16 or so, if we want an auto spot - and if we get a coupel of decent signings to refresh things, then we should be in good shape to give a bloody good shot.

I dont think Nige will be happy, but he wont be too miserable about it either - we showed some good form yesterday with around 20 chances created... luck could have meant the result go eiether way, but at thats the nature of the beast.

Believe and keep the faith in the Bus

A voice of reason. I actually thought we played ok yesterday, and carved out a heap of great chances.

How can NA be angry? With KD in goal we clearly would have won that game. Can't get angry with the team over an individual error which cost us today. On another day, that would have been a comfortable win and we kept going all the way until the end. I'm not sure what the OP expects but the more he posts threads, the more he shows that he's clueless about football.

I think you should consider changing your Username.

Nigel coming out and criticising the players ahead of next weeks game isn't going to help, and he was never going to because he's a positive person. On another day we could have won that yesterday, but also could have lost it. I'll take the point and move on. The players have clearly had the Pompey game in the back of their mind for quite some time now, so hopefully they live up to the build-up. Please win lads, I can't stand having to take stick from them until April at least.
